Ian shut the door as she swept by him.
"I'll just be a moment, just wait here." He gave the woman his best charming smile, because he remembered that look she had given him, and stepped into the bathroom closing the door behind him.
Ten minutes later he appeared out of the area wearing a pair of khaki cargo shorts and stoll toweling his hair off, somehow managing to get around his antlers.
"Sorry to have kept you waiting madam," he sketched a bow and looked at his dresser with a grimace. He had no clean shirts. In fact, most of his shirts were worn to the point of destruction. The shorts he was wearing were a last resort, Ian did not like wearing shorts.
"I hope you were not too uncomfortable?"

Emerwyn sat on the bed, patiently waiting for the dirty king to finish. For some reason or other, she felt strangley compelled to walk in on him, but to the relief of that worrisome voice in her head, resisted the temptation.
She rose as he emerged, watching impressed as he dodged his antlers with the towel. "No trouble at all. I was perefectly at home, thank you."
"But, if you feel uncomfortable, I will gladly give my cowl." She began to unfasten her cloak, to offer it to Ian in place of a shirt.

The deer lifted a hand to halt Emerwyn's movement. "I am quite alright m'dear." A song started playing in Ian's head. This one was even more bawdy then the one he had sange in the jungle. He tried to shut it up, but it grew in volume until it was so loud in his head that he wanted to shout to be able to talk.
When he spoke again his voice was a little strained with what the song lyrics were and with trying to speak softly despite his urge to shout.
"Glad you were alright." he started to sweat a little. Why did that song have to play. He wasn't going to do anything. He wished he could shut it up.

Emerwyn nodded, and redid the clasp.
Something was wrong with Ian. He looked dreadfully uncomfortable. Why did men always get so uncomfortable? It was just like Zach. Why didn't they simply say what they felt?
"Of course, I'm fine." She walked closer to him. She looked up at him with innocent eyes, and wrapped her arms around his damp, furry torso. "Now that I'm here with you."

Great, now why did she have to go and do that. Ian was feeling more uncomfortable by the minute and he didn't know what to do.
Gently he pushed her away. "I don't think you should be doing that," his voice was a hoarse croak.
He knew the songs, and he knew exactly what they described. But he had never really understood why some of the stuff in them happened. Now he did.
He had to control himself. But how, the songs never told him anything about that.

Emerwyn backed away slowly and hesitantly. There was confusion in her eyes. "What's wrong?" She sounded genuinely concerned. What was wrong with him? All she wanted to be by his side. Nothing more. Perhaps he was trying to protect them both.

His green eyes were nervous. "The songs. . ." he whispered. He backed up and he could feel the door behind him.
Moving a hand behind him he grabbed the doorknob hoping it would open properly if he decided he would have to flee
"The songs won't go away." The sweat was pouring down his face and sticking in his fur now.
He couldn't stay around.

The songs... ? Like the one he'd sang in the jungle? A slow comprehension came upon Emerwyn's face. She could see, as much as it was possible for her, what was happening.
It pained her so. She knew, she knew those were not her intentions. And yet...
"Ian..." she started to say, her hands raising. But then, she stopped.
"If you wish it, I will go."

"You do not need to go." His hand started to turn the doorknob. "It is my fault." He would never sing those songs again. "I was the one singing." But would he be able to forget this ever again, around Emerwyn? "It is I who should go." He felt the door opening behind him. "You have done nothing wrong." He had forgotten that this was in fact his duplex. "I love you, remember that." The picture of him and James when they were younger stared at him from the nightstand accusingly. "Farewell until later, maybe." And he slipped out the door, running when he had closed the portal behind him.

Emerwyn started after him, but her cluttered mind, and his saddened gaze stopped her. She stood silent as he left, hardly blinking.
She stood, alone, in the room of her beloved. Though he had placed the blame upon himself, she felt the guilt swarm around her. The ecstasy she'd felt not moments ago had faded. Faded with the image of Ian, disappearing behind the door.

When they arrived at the duplex, Emerwyn felt a strange sort of apprehension came over her. The cause was a mix of things, different emotions and concerns. But, there was one she did not expect, and so she did not recognize it right away. Quickly, she pushed it away. Not now, when everything was so perfect.
She detached herself gently from his arm, and stood back for him to open the door. She couldn't do it herself. Not yet.
