Ashe had watched two more people enter the inn and ask for a room at a lowered price. They looked to be young couple, but their clothes told a different story. This is starting to get interesting, she thought to herself. One of the dogs nudged her leg with his head and whined. The water bowl was empty and they wanted more. "Jeeze, you all have bottomless pits for stomachs," she complained. She got up and paid for the ale. She left the bar and walked to the small alleyway beside the building. Looking around to make sure no one was near, she climbed the stack of boxes to the roof, nearly bumping into the man she saw come in. "Oof."

Riley, who had his back turned at the time, jumped and fell forwards off the roof. Luckily, his fast reflexes saved him because he grabbed the edge in time. "Hi." he said before pulling himself over the edge. "Now here's a more important question: Who are you? Or better, who do you work for? Yourself, or the authorities?" he asked, a small flash of silver near his sleeve as his blade slid down between two of his fingers. Riley was quite certain standing like this would get some people to see him, but he didn't care much yet.

Ashe was in an odd situation. She was on one knee with both hands supporting her on the roof, with a small knife aimed at her throat. Yep, real interesting... she thought to herself. "If I worked for the authorities would I have bumped into you? Or would I have snuck up and arrested you unawares?" she asked. "I work for the highest bidder, and right now that's none your business." Below her the dogs started to stir and bark. A warning. She heard the clink of the patrol's armor and used it as an excuse to grab the man's hand and pull him down to hide the both of them. Pushing her head over the eave of the roof she watched the patrol leave and the dogs calm down. "Now, would an enemy do that?"

"Noted." Riley said simply, shaking his sleeve and moving his hand to get the blade back into position. "And to answer your question, if you where the authorities, I probably would have expected a lot of sharp objects tossed at me from below, instead of a sneak-attack arresting like you suggested." he added, grinning slightly at the thought. "So, when you say highest bidder...you mean you're a mercenary? Because if so, you can tell Phil that I don't owe him any more money." he asked after a moment, frowning.

"Aye, you can call me that. But I'm more of a thief-for-hire, than a fighter." Ashe pulled back from the eave of the roof and sat facing the ship. "As for talking to Phil: I'm no messenger. You tell 'im yourself." She studied the ship and frowned. "That's odd," she said to herself. "Where are the guards?"

Ezekiel exhausted slumped down against what looked to be an abandoned in near the port. He'd walked the city all night before looking for a place to rest, but between the look of his ripped and dirtied clothes and slightly blood shot eyes it was apparent that sleep wasn't something he'd had much of. All of the Inn keepers he'd dealt with so far had either been full, broken into, or too expensive. He let his head fall back tiredly against the stone he was resting on; the sun caused his eyes to strain painfully. He quickly raised a hand to block it out; in the shade of his hand he'd noticed the top of what looked to be a relatively well kept inn, his eyes slowly wandered down the front of the building stopping on the sign that bared its name.
The rotten apple? Doesn't seem rotten to me, at least there's no stumbling drunkards pouring it out of it not to mention the lack of wenches.
The promise of the inn was enough to prompt him to his feet. He brushed what he could off if himself and made his way in. He did his best to mask his fatigue and make it to the bar with out bumping into anyone. He made it most of the way with out bumping into anything except a few old women gossiping about the death of a guard at the port by the name of Garvin. He apologized profusely and made his way to the inn keeper.
"Sir, I've been wandering this city looking for a place to sleep for all of two days. If you have a room of any kind I'll give you what little I have for it, and if it's not enough I'd be willing to work it off after I've had some rest." he said as he removed the small bag of silver coins from his jacket and plopped onto the table.
Opening the bag slightly the inn keeper peeked inside and nodded satisfied with the amount there before handing him a key. Ezekiel thanked him and bowed before heading upstairs to his room where he quickly removed his sheathed sword and small backpack from his person along with his heavier outer garments and boots before drifting to sleep on the cot in the room

Riley looked over at the ship. "Yeah, I noticed that earlier...the usual deal of 3 above, 2 below seems forgotten...I was stopped by a guard earlier but I can't seem him anymore." he said, frowning. "This ship is odd...such a big ship, yet there is no activity or guards aboard...this makes no sense at all."

Mattias opened the door to his "house"...if you could call it one. It was merely an abandoned house in the slums that was not in the realtor's possession...and Mattias tried to keep it that way. He walked down the messy streets and farther into the city, until he came to an Inn & Bar. He decided to stop inside, maybe he could find a little change someone left behind or carelessly left on the bar. He stepped inside, the door almost falling off its hinges. They should fix that... Matt thought bitterly. He moved slyly, as to avoid the other people's attention and went to the inn keeper. He coughed to get his attention, "Sir, could you spare some coins fo' the poor and abandoned?" The bartender looked at him judgingly, before shaking his head and turning to fix someone a drink. Mattias rested his head in his arms on the bar, then sighed and stood back up, moving towards the door. The bartender looked to take the man's coins when he noticed they were gone! He looked around the bar for them but they were gone.

Ashe shrugged her shoulders and said, "Maybe inside?" She got up and whistled, the three dogs below stood at attention. "Split up," she said to them. The ran out of the ally and each went their own way. "That should keep the patrol from getting suspicious." She looked over at the man, "Ready?" She then jumped to the roof of the building next door, and hurried towards the ship.

Mattias moved slyly through the inn and slipped out the door before the bartender got a chance to think he was the culprit. He looked in his pouch, found the coins refreshing and guilt-inducing. He shook his head, I need this... he thought as he moved through the streets. His brown robes allowing him to gently melt with the crowd. He decided it was a nice enough day to keep his hood up, he heard a sharp whistle and looked around. He couldn't find its source so he shrugged and moved through the crowd, letting his hands reach out every once in a while to slip a few coins into his own pouch.

"No." Riley said simply, sitting down on the edge of the roof. He wasn't going to go at it until later in the day, around dusk, and only after he knew the going-ons of the ship like the back of his hand. So he watched...seeing little movement through the portholes. He figured a little excursion would work. That, and he was tired of sitting. He leaned sideways, looking upside down into the room. "Hey there, Jessica. Just headed out to the ship for a moment, look around, see whats up." he said casually, flipping back on to the roof and following the girl's movements to make it on to the roof.

Mattias exited the massive crowd surging through the streets, his hand was in his pouch as his secretively counted the coins. 87 earned, a small amount from the bar he had taken it from. He sighed, knowing where at least half of it would be going. As he passed the cobblestone streets and into the humid air that marked the residential slums he paused at a few places. To many, it just seemed like a flattened tuft of wild grass or a strewn set of broken logs but to the homeless of the slums, it was the one place they could rest. He dropped some coins in to everyone, knowing much of it would go to waste. When he passed as many as 7 he stopped to count them, 42 coins were left. He sighed again as he headed back through the streets and to the shipping lanes and dock. Mattias.rested against the wall, looking for something new and exciting to do.

Ashe ran silently across the roof tops of the city, getting closer to the ship. When she reached an abandoned warehouse near the dock she stopped. This looks like a good spot to watch the going ons, she mused. She swung herself into the building via broken window on the second floor. Making her way carefully towards the dock side of the building she past many abandoned crates and barrels. I'll have to come back to check this place out later. Reaching the other side, she set herself up near the window that offered the best view of both the dock and ship. "Ok. Now show me what your going to do."
