Desert looked at the Alpha female in a bit of surprisre, though not as surprised as he would have been if he had met her only five minutes ago. He thought about questioning her offer, as it was not instinctual for him to eat at the same time as the older and higher ranking wolves. His stomach, however, had no interest in arguing and with a wag of his tail, and a flash oh a grin in River's direction, he dug in.

 Koenshan nearly glowed at the unspoken praise: the sureness of their success on the hunt that came from River's casual acceptance of their buck. Even as he thrulled in her permision to eat, instincts of waiting for the alphas to eat first bore deep. Deeper than his empty belly. She was alpha too, he reminded himself. It was hard knocking against his upbringing of male alphas. Still, he could not ignore the commnd of an alpha. He settled down to eat carefully, keeping an eye on the others to see that they ate too.
He would nibble, but only when Diego joined them would he feel free to enjoy the flesh with gusto. It was his way of keeping peace within himself in his new situation.

 Diego waited for the pack to return back from the hunt for what must have seamed like forever. Something in him felt rather bad to take his share when he didn't even hunt. Shaking his head and howling back he made a terrible alpha. He was supposed to show his leadship- instead he was left babysitting the pups like an Omega, then when the food was here he would just take his share before the other hard working members? It didn't sound fair to him. If they hunted for it- they should eat it.
But the thing that still bothered him inwardly was that he was still allowing himself to be walked all over, not by his pack- but by himself. Now within sight of the other pack members he held up his head and took his own stance of Alpha. As his mind raced he wanted to do something that proved he was capable of leadership. But what? Standing next to the kill he smiled being his old cheary self.
"You guys can eat before me...I don't mind. If you killed it then it's your right to fill your bellies first."
With that he sat and watched gaining self control that he really hadn't had before.

Sitting next tot he kill once they had stopped, Inazuma licked some of the blood off her lips hungrily. She still had the taste of the meat in her mouth, but she restrained herself. She didnt want to travel along again, so she stayed wehre she was, not wanting to anger the alpha's by doing something she wasnt supposed to do. At the alpha's nodd though, she dug in with the other two, filling her empty stomach.

Blinking, the blue & green wolf cocked his head at the rainbow hued alpha, not quite sure he had heard correctly. His eyes flickerd back & forth between River & Diego as his thoughts percolated uncomfortably in his head. While the strange orders collided with his "known" rules Koenshan coninued to eat tentatively. It was just so different. It was not that he did not like this way, simply that he was having a hard time digesting the differences and integrating them into his thoughts and actions.
The alphas seemed to be smiling their encouragement for the hunters to eat first, and the former scout gave in to his hunger with a quick thankful smile. I still don't understand... but perhaps understanding will come in time.

 River smiled and turned to Diego with a cough and then a nudge of the head she smiled and turned to Ren. "May I talk to for a while?" It was time to get the two wolves they wanted to be betas to know. If they would agree to it then the rest of the small pack would be told, from that it would be anounced that the Betas had the same amount of control as the alphas. The alphas however would punish the Betas if they were being too harsh or something of the sort. River was happy to be finally doing this, she had watied for a while and it would take the pressure off herself.

He paused, confused as River adressed the injured female. First they want us to eat before they do, now they're pulling Ren away from the kill? What's going on here? Still, until he was called away Koenshan would continue eating.

Ren had been eating somewhat vigorously, desperate to fill the hunger that had been gnawing at her stomach the past few days. It was only when River called to her that she raised her head, still reluctant to stop feasting.
She stepped away, licking at her maw before gazing around at their little group.
"You may talk with me." She agreed.

River smiled and led the femme away, "We will find more food if you still wish to eat though I have a question for you." She lowered her head slightly as she sat down a little away from the group. She glanced back at the group and rolled her eyes at Diego, he was so silly sometimes. Turning back to Ren she smiled softly. "You are obviously the most dominant of the females here. I would like to ask if you would think about being the Beta. You would have as much power as both me and Diego though we can if we wish punish you if we feel you are being to harsh, though I doubt that you would." She paused and her smile widened a little. "You don't have to if you don't wish, though I think you have the potential more then the others, as well as experiance." She smiled at her still, hoping that she would agree to it.

Ren was surprised, she was very, very surprised. The last thing she had expected was to be asked if she wanted to be of beta position. She straightened her posture and twitched her ears thoughtfully.
"You wish me to be a beta? It seems a strange request of a wolf as...as old as me." For she would not deny her age and the slight greying of her muzzle. "I shall accept...but on one condition."
She paused and let her eyes focus on the horizon, "you must turn a blind eye to the things I do beyond our pack borders." She wanted to say no more on that, for to word it was to make it real. For now it was just her sick and twisted dream and that was that.

She smiled again and then looked back towards the rest of the pack, "Condition accepted, just I trust you won't endanger any of the pack." She smiled at her and looked back towards the pack, "Go on then. Unless you want to say anything else to me? I need to go and lay down, my neck still hurts from where I rescued Desert." She stretched her legs and turned to go slowly, just incase Ren had any more to say on the subject.

"Just that your trust in me is strangely comforting." For the first time in a long while Sirena felt a sense of calm settle over her mind, the wolf that had been her mate haunted her less and less and though she still had the intention of deploying her revenge, her lust for it was deadening.
She turned silently from the alpha and slipped once again over to the meat, chewing thoughtfully.
Her future had turned out quite differently from what she had envisioned it.

River just let a small proud smile cross her face before she turned to head back to the den, others could join her once she was finished if they so wished, but she needed some rest for now, her new Beta would look after things.

Cinder yawned and sat near the edge of the pack, she had spent a lot of her time by herself and know she thought it came to be that she needed some company.
Marquis padded his way though the woods until coming upon the pack of wolves, he had been in the mood for some playful fun. Terrorizing others was always his type of fun. He let out a howl that ended in a growl and grined hiding himself in the green follage

River suddenly turned as she heard a howl, "What the?" She turned and ran back to the others stopping at the rest of the pack. She trotted to Ren and whispered something in her ear that the others couldn't hear. "Look after Desert, someone is here who hasn't been before. If I call send the others back to the den and come please?" She smiled at the female and ran off. She needed to rest but then again being an alpha meant that sometimes it wasn't an option.
She got to the edge of the packlands where she saw Cinder. "Cinder!" She smiled and walked over to her, nuzzling at her head. "Awwww girl, there is food back by the den if you want some?" She smiled and sat down next to her. River's ears were perked up still listening there was another wolf around somewhere.
