Christopher wound his way through the school's hallways, still heading towards the library. His head still felt like it was in a vice and he just wanted to sit down. As he approached the library entrance he saw a fellow student leaving and stoped short. It was a short girl with long hair, and it didn't take a detective to see that she was hiding something. He didn't really care and just wanted to go read. He gave the girl a slight nod the walked past her into the library.

After about ten minutes, it became clear that the girl was in her own little world and that Hal wasn't welcome there. Hal's face fell for a moment, then she shrugged and walked out of the room. If she wants to be by herself, let her be, Hal thought. She kicked at a nearby wall. Sucks that my first attempt at making friends fell flat.
Stretching, she walked back to her room. It was silent and cold. Hal stood in the doorway for a moment, images from her distant memory overlapping this one.
A warm golden glow. The smell of paint in the air. Hal hadn't wanted to paint her room at first, but her parents had convinced her. The furniture was clustered in the center of the room, covered by a plastic sheet. Spatters of paint dripped down the side. Her parents at the wall, laughing and flicking paint at each other. A small golden handprint in the middle of the wall...
Hal shook her head and the reality of the room swam up from the images. "Guess I'd better get to work," she said.
There wasn't much to unpack. Hal put up her posters – one Lord of the Rings and one optical illusion – and found a plastic sticky cup to hang her stained-glass sun on the window. She noticed as she was hanging it that the glass was bulletproof and run through with many fine wires – the kind that wouldn’t give you an opening even if you broke it. The crystals were scattered around various surfaces in the room.
“There we go,” Hal said, sitting back on the bed. She’d just hung her dreamcatcher above the headboard. Hal looked around and nodded approvingly. “Not exactly homey, but getting there.”
Hal stretched and yawned. Her stomach growled and she put a hand on it in surprise. I didn’t think I’d be hungry so soon after tossing my cookies… ah well. Who can account for the mysteries of the bottomless teenage stomach?
Hal left her and looked around, wondering where to go. That room we were in earlier… it looked like a cafeteria. Maybe I can get something to eat there?
Hal was heading towards the stairs when she heard a girl scream. She jerked to a stop. Visions of Dr. Gerard with surgical equipment ran through her head as she pounded on the door from which the scream had come. “Are you all right in there?!”

((Sorry, TeHsChNoZbErRy, but I got tired of waiting for you. I’m moving on now.))

Alice heard some one at her door.
"Are you alright in there?!" A girls voice called, Alice untangled her legs from her sheets and went to the door. A small girl with short blonde hair stood in front of her looking a little unsettled.
"Um, sorry if I disturbed you..uh bad dream..." Alice said sheepishly. She glanced briefly down the hall and saw Jack grab Dawn. For a second Alice was torn between who to protect. But brushed it off and ran towards the two.
"Jack!!! Let go of her!! Dawn listen to me..." Alice said as she approached, she could see the power building in Dawn's eyes. Alice used the power she could muster to throw Jack from Dawn. He hit the floor and looked at Dawn then to her. There was something in his eyes, but Alice had to get to Dawn before she lost it.
"Dawn close your eyes..." Alice said as she neared Dawn, the girl threw an arm out in front of Alice as she approached.
"I wouldn't if you wish to keep that arm..." Alice said, her voice was calm but with a hidden edge. She ushered Dawn into her room, looking back at Jack apologetically.
"Dawn..stay in here ok?" Alice said once they where inside, she sat Dawn down on her bed, and gave her a slight encouraging smile. Dawn nodded, looking distant.
Alice returned to the hall way to see Jack gone and the girl from earlier talking to the girl who was protecting Dawn.

Thorn made it to the third floor without any interactions with other people, other than a slight nod from a new face she didn't remember seeing much of before. Gee, how many people did that stupid Doctor coop up in here?! the young lady thought to herself as she finally got her edgy personality back, her dark hair trailing in the pigtail-like style behind her as she went in her usual confidence.

As she was heading back towards her "room" to finish "decorating" (if one could call it either of those things; this was no school, after all) with a few more things in the boxes, she noticed by the many people all about and looking angry, that she had just missed a near fight. There were two girls; nope, three, and one guy, all looking on edge. She smirked; so she wasn't the only one losing yet, but yet on the outside was keeping her cool. Good, she thought as she walked past them without looking at any of them in the eyes, her book wrapped tight in her crossed arms as she passed through the middle of the group.

Cause the last thing people need to do here is mess with me; they don't know my strength when in rage, and one foul insult and I'll knock their lights out! Simply because, I, Thorn, am not one to be messed with like some innocent bullied child.

I don't take kindly to foolishness.

Jack stared at Alice in disbelief as she helped the girl into her room. He picked himself off the floor and gave a cold look to the other girl, the one with the long hair that had been so threatening. This wasn’t over. He stormed into his room, gripping the door and slamming it behind him, waiting to hear that satisfying bang that let everyone get a good idea just how pissed off you were.
But it never came. The door closed softly, carefully. Jack’s eyes twitched. “Alice,” he hissed. “I don’t want to hear what you have to say. I’m not even going to listen to your damn emotions so don’t try.” He didn’t turn around. He was standing across the room facing the wall. In a normal, comfortable room there might have been a window there, but here there was only cold, stale white.

Hal nodded sagely. "Ah, bad dream... I can see how you might-" But she stopped when she saw that the girl had run towards a small knot of their fellow experimentees down the hall. It looked like the guy was mad at the dark-haired girl.
"This is ridiculous," Hal muttered as she started towards them as well. "Five minutes in here and they're already..."
Hal trailed off and stared incredulously for the second time in as many minutes. The red-haired girl had just thrown the boy to the floor - without touching him.
It was one thing to hear about supposed 'special powers' and quite another to see them in action. Hal tumbled through a multitude of emotions before she settled on curiosity. But before she could ask the girl about her powers, she'd ushered the dark-haired girl into a bedroom and the boy had stormed off.
Hal shrugged and approached the remaining girl, who still had a slightly murderous expression. "What just happened there?" she asked. "What kind of power does that girl have? Name's Hal McGee, by the way," she said belatedly, scratching the stitches on her head. "What's yours?"

Christopher ran his finger along the spines of several books as he walked down the corridor formed by a couple of shelves. He was starting to feel at home amongst all the books, and the pain in his head was finally starting to ease up. The library was empty, the way he liked it, and took up a large portion of the "school". His foot steps echoed as he paced down the aisle. He took a book off the shelf at random and sat down in a quiet corner. Leaning his back against the wall, Chris flipped the book over and read its cover. The Red Badge of Courage and other short stories, by Stephen Crane. "Meh" he said with a shrug and began to read.He had been reading for a little while when he suddenly let out a yelp and dropped the book. A spark had lept from the book to his finger and left it feeling numb. Cautiously he picked up the book and began to read again. Chris stopped again suddenly and frowned, he already knew everything from the page he was on. He turned to the next page and began to read and his frown deepened, a look of concerne passing over his face. He knew everything on that page as well. He flipped over every page and each time it was the same story, he knew the words to every page before he ever read them. Breathing heavily, Chris threw the book aside and tried to think. Whats going on here? he wondered, The doctor has to be behind this. He sat in his corner for a few minuets trying to calm down and make sence of what happened. Finally, he decided to test his half formed theory. He stood up slowly and waked over to the neares book shelf. Slowly he reached out towards the nearest book, Darwins Origin of Species, and wispered "I wonder...". As he pressed his hand against the books spine light blue tendrils of energy linked him to the book. Excited and startled in equal measure Chris refused to let go of the book,. "Woah" he muttered with a small grin. After mere moments the energy disappated and Chris pulled the book off of the shelf. With deliberate slowness he opened to a random page and began to read. His grin grew into a full blown smile as he realized that he knew everything written on that page. In fact he knew everything on every page! Every picture, every word, even the meaning behind the words, it was all burned into his mind! He looked down at his hands with a mixture of awe, fear, and elation. Infinite knowledge was at his fingertips, literally, and he let out a laugh of pure euphorea.

((I am going to assume that Hal is talking to Brynn Syvra and hello everybody I'm back! ^-^))

As soon as Dawn and Jack left her sight, the murderous desire to hurt left her. Brynn Syvra was calm again, but as she looked at her hair which fell down to the floor, she knew that she would never be normal again. Her hair was dark purple now, nothing like the brilliant pink it used to be. I wonder what else about me is changing?
As she pondered this, she noticed a girl coming towards her. She introduced herself and asked a few questions. Brynn Syvra didn't immediately answer them. Only moving her eyes, she looked the girl, this Hal McGee, up and down. She circled her to get a good look. She stopped directly in front of her and looked deep into her eyes. She searched them, searched them for importance. Something clicked about Hal in Brynn's head, so she decided that Hal wasn't stupid and that she would actually deign to talk to her. Her voice came out in barely a whisper and she never broke eye contact with Hal. "I, honestly, have no idea, I believe she has the power of telekinisis, and," Brynn paused, looking her up and down once more, "is Brynn Syvra." She searched Hal's eyes again, seemed to be satisfied, and walked around Hal to her room, her hair making a rustling sound as it dragged on the floor.

Thorn chuckled as she continued down the hallway; ha, they were actually not killing each other. But then she thought deeper on this aspect as she walked. After all, nothing better to do. so anyways, they were trying to piece the puzzle together like little rats inside a cage.....that's what tehy all were anyways. Mutated rats in a cage, trying to escape this heck-hole that was built by a mad scientist observing them all in an evil chuckle. The world had gone dry.

But yes, it was strange how people were trying to get along. Aw, but where's the fun in that? That would not be enough to satasify a human long enough to be able to last, such friendships. Such odd creatures, human beings. Believing to do whatever their instincts and decietful minds told them to do. Help a guy one minute, then betray him in the next. It was all very pointless, and the young lady didn't really understand where the good in the world was. After all, if you couldn't trust anyone around you, what fun is it being on your own? Besides, one of these idiots would
betray another to a torture in a heartbeat, so there was no friendship. No love, nor compassion. After all, the trustworthy ones are the ones that end up dying at the end of it all! Just like her only friend....

These were thoughts that swam through the head of the girl, and she could feel something deep inside of her move. Was it anger? Rage? Mistrust?

..... lonliness?

Whatever it was, something in her moved, and her calm nature was gone. But she always channeled her emotions of sadness, to rage. Because one cannot cry on the outside.

But her thoughts were interrupted, for a guard suddenly came up to her. He had no good intentions, for she had been doing nothing wrong, while he had just sat back and watched a near-fight go on.

"What are you doing?" he asked, stern and yet, so stupidly. This made Thorn chuckle a moment, and it faded quickly as she just looked at him as if talking to a monkey.

"Heading back to my room; why ELSE would I be on the floor JUST FOR ROOMS?! Idiot..." she sighed and stormed forward, but felt something coming up behind her at a fast pace. The sound of a weapon being drawn....he was not done with her. Which meant-

HAHAHA, the fight was back! It had been so long since she defended herself in the streets, it was time to get rolling. Make the Red Skies proud!

But all she had done was twirled around and glared, right into the mans beady ugly little eyes, when something..........happened.

Thorn cried out in pain as her eyes suddenly changed with a charge running through them, and they were now dark blood red. She had dropped her book as she clutched her eyes for a moment in severe pain. As the pain suddenly stopped, she peekd through the fingers and looked about, finally moving her hands down off her face. But what shocked her was the fact that the man suddenly dropped down in surprise like a statue, not moving, not breathing, as if stung by a bee. The expression of a surpressed scream on his face.

"W-What the hell?" Thorn looked at the man surprised for a moment before she realized the opportunity, then ran down the hall with all her might and speed. Gang time had been good for her agility and running skills. She had left Crimson Tales on the floor without realizing it.

((Welcome back, My Pearl Angel! And Sora Kitty, I know the power has nothing to do with bee stings, I just found it an accurate description.))

Hal blinked as Brynn stalked off to her room. Her door shut with a tiny click. Then a slow grin began to grow on Hal's face.
"Cool," she breathed.
Another girl with black hair, this time in pigtails, brushed past her, running as if all the guards in the school were after her. "Whoa!" Hal said, stepping aside. "What's the hurry?!" she yelled to the girl's disappearing back. Then she thought to look at what the girl had been running from.
There was a lump of something at the end of the hallway. As Hal came closer, it resolved into a guard lying face-up on the floor. Hal paused and eyed the man. He wasn't even breathing. Was this some kind of trick?
She cautiously stretched out a hand and poked him. It was like touching a bee-sting wound - a bit of soft flesh covering hard, inflamed tissue. Almost like a living statue...
As she prepared to poke him again, the guard suddenly sprang to life. He immediately sat up, coughing, his eyes wide and wild. "Th-that... b***h..." he gasped. "Didn't she drink the damn serum?!"
Hal sat there watching him. So one of them could paralyze people? That was good to know...
The guard noticed her sitting there and his eyes narrowed. "You," he choked out. He grabbed Hal's shoulders and shook her roughly. "What the hell you lookin' at?! You know that b***h?! Huh?!"
Hal recoiled, startled and a little scared. "Let go of me! I don't know nothin'!"

((That's cool! It does sound alot like what paralyisis would seem like, doesn't it?

Was sick of seeming like Thorn had no powers, so I got them to show finally.))

Thorn continued to speed down the never-ending hallway, or so it seemed, with a extreme panic inside her mind, although on the outside she kept her cool look. She'd gotten practice on it on the streets. However, if one looked into her mind:

OhGodwhat'sgoingonI'msogonnadieforsoemthingIdon'tevenunderstandsomethingthatdoctordidsomethingandI'mgonnadienotgoodnotgood!

She knew she was gonna die, but it was for something she didn't understand. What had happened to the guard? Why did her eyes keep hurting? She could see through a quick flash in a mirror nearby that they were still bloodred instead of nearly blackish blue. It was that a-hole of a doctor; he did something to her that made the man freeze in his tracks. Was it paralysis? It looked like it. She could hear hte man awaken from his state and scream at another girl. Her fault for butting in, but at least she was keeping up a distraction, cause the guard sounded angry. NOT HER FAULT, again; he asked for it!

She had no solitary clue where she was going; just away from here, away from whatever sick torture the man in charge was probably thinking. Well, they'd have to be quick to catch her!

Charlie had been growing bored with her pool game, so once she finished, she reracked the table and decided to walk back upstairs to her room to see what little she could do to decorate it. She switched her mp3 player back on and let the music wash over her again. She wandered around the second floor for a while before getting to the stairs. Slowly she climbed, eyes half closed, paying more attention to her music than to what was going on around her. As she neared the top of the stairs, a shout made it past her earbuds. She quickly switched the music off and looked around.

There was a guard chasing Thorn. Charlie didn't know what Thorn had done, but she guessed that she had discovered what was wrong with her--and she had used it on a guard. So. Yet another has discovered their power. So what's wrong with me?

Charlie continued pondering as she walked down to the third door from the end--her room.

Alice didn't need his powers to feel his emotions rolling off of him like waves. Anger, disbelief, hurt...it was all there. Alice wasn't used to having real friends. She hadn't had any since she was 14. Dawn was more like a younger sibling to Alice, and it was hard to talk to her about certain things, like Dr. Gerard. But Jack was her friend, or to her he was. She couldn't bare to see him mad at her. She walked up behind him and hugged him. She felt his muscles tighten, and heard his sharp intake of breath.
"I'm sorry, but if I hadn't gotten her away, bad things would have happened. Please believe me." Alice whispered, she focused her emotions, so that he knew her apology was sincere. Then let go of him and turned to leave the room. She had a feeling he might just tear it apart once she left.

Christopher staggered out of the library, his head swimming with his newly aquired knowledge. He had access to so much knowledge, and was still grinning as he walked back towards his dormatory. His mind was raceing as the tried to figure out what to do next. I need to figure out the extent of my newfound ablilities he thought, giddy at the prospect. I need to get back to the library much more often to conduct experiments. He began to tap his index finger on his bottom lip as he tried to think of a way to get back to the library more often. Its such a long way from my room after all He climbed the stairs to the third floor and walked towards his room, thinking How can I get my stuff in there without anyone noticing? He stopped just short of his room, a strange sight pulling him out of his thought. THe girl he had seen leaving the library ealier was now rushing down the hall, clerly very distraught and deep in thought. Whats all this then? He wondered.

Thorn was getting sick of running, and now she heard the sound of three PO'd guards. Just great, I can't keep this up much longer; haven't run this much in forever. CRAP I need a freakin workout-

As she turned the corner, she was surprised to see the same boy from before walking towards the dorms. However, this realization also gave her the realization that up head was a old pipe overhead the direction where she was going; it was attached to two machine-like operating systems for somethign on either side, neither one of them working. The ceiling here seemed to go off into a point too.

Great, she just might accidently flash this guy, but better than the three guards catching her.

Since the men had yet to turn the corner, she increased her speed, and jumped up and grabbed the handle bar with both hands. She did a couple of flips to grab momentum, then launched herself into the air. She flew striaght up, and nearly hit her head on the ceiling. As she began to fall, she quickly put a foot on each side, doing a midair splits. Another gang trick: "When you're in trouble, you gotta Split!"

She also used her hands to hold herself (so she couldn't really cover her skirt.........oops.) up at the narrow part of the roof, and watched in inner evil glee as the three men looked about confused, then they all headed down the stairs. HA! They thought she was actually stupid enough to go down the stairs.

After waiting several moments, she released herself gracefully from the wall and grabbed the pipe again as she was falling. After a couple swings to keep her speed down, she landed quite nicely. She chuckled to herself. "Oh yeah, I'm good! I am SO good!" she chanted for a moment, then remembered something.

"Ah man, dropped the book! Arrrgg, now I'll never get any further in it; chances are idiots took it." she sighed and sat down against the wall, noting the boy still there but not saying anything.
