That's crazy...so, where do you guys get the answers from? I pretty much remember what I said for most of the answers, so I think I'd be able to give myself a pretty good idea of how I did.

I marked mine down. I missed three. neutral My teacher says that's borderline gold, depending on how hard they think the test is. I was hoping for gold this year, but I'll be happy with a silver if I get it.

Same here. I'm probably gonna get a silver but I really want a gold. If my friend Alex (a first year) gets a gold, I'm so going to take it from him for a day, just so I can feel special. I did that first year.

In my first year, I was the only one to get a medal, period. My teacher in first year was not the best (because in that district, there was only one class of Latin per year (a first years' class, a second years' class, etc.) and half of the kids never focused, so my teacher needed to do crowd control.
This year, I moved to a new school district with a new teacher, and he's much better. Part of it is that I'm in an honors class now, which moves faster and is more full of people who are willing to sit down, shut up, and learn.
Since, back in the old district, the teacher I had for first year was quitting anyway, they hired a new one. When some friends of mine discovered a blog she had on the Web posting horrible things about her students (apparantly they all hated her), she got fired. They've been having to teach the Latin themselves this year, and next year they'll have to be bussed to another school to take it. Unfourtunately, they never got the opportunity to take the National Latin Exam, so I feel kind of sorry for them.

That's sad. I've had the same teacher all three years of Latin and I love her. She's a very good friend, and I think she's a wonderful teacher. Sadly, she's retiring this year but she deserves it. I just feel bad for my friend (Alex). He loves Latin as much as I do and he really likes Ms. Goodell so he's gonna be sad with a new teacher. Only thing that he might like is that the teacher is going to be a guy, we're just not sure which one yet. The interviews are happening next week or two. Doesn't matter much to me though, since I'm graduating this year. *scared* I'm going to college to hopefully get certified as a Latin teacher. gonk

I'm really fond of my teacher this year, Mr. Kelsh. He's absolutely awesome; learning from him has just been really enjoyable. He's always interrupting a lesson to give us an interesting tidbit on etymology, and in fact that's how he teaches us to remember our vocab--through etymologically related words. (Mind, he usually won't let us use homonyms on vocab tests. This was a problem when we got to, say, religio, religionis and he insisted that we all try to define religion.)

Latin Convention is coming up in my area! I plan to absolutely dominate the mythology and the derivatives tests, then attempt to do a good drawing of a molossus.
Is anyone else planning to do something?
Oh, and I just got the info on how low they're handing out medals on the NLE this year--missed four or less, you get a gold! I'm so thrilled!

Can someone help me with volcabulary? Mine is rather limited. I suggest Henle Latin which was written by a preist so you know it's likely to be right. If you are really going to stick with it and will use it a lot I suggest Rosetta Stone. It's pricey, but it's well worth it. If my computer wasn't so old and everything, I'd be much further in Japanese. I tried the demo for Latin and that really helped me some.

Spanish Nerd Can someone translate this for me? Is this latin? Salve regina mater misericordiae Vita dulcedo et spes nostra Salve salve regina Ad te clamamus exules filii Eva Ad te suspiramus gementes et flentes O clemens o piaIt's the Hail Holy Queen prayer in Latin. Sadly, I don't know it or enough Latin to trasnlate.
