"Feng... not a word," Kara murmured to her daughter noting the confuse and curious expression Feng's face.
The family could keep a secret and this was a family matter after all. She had already gotten the impression that it was a secret originally Lin had known about besides the Aldrich family here that is.
"Actually, I knew already, Elrohir let it slip at the breakfast table the last time we were here," she smiled, "Lin was quite horrified of course."

"And appropriately so," Aliya nodded. "The last thing he wants is to be shipped back to the Southland and made to take his place as their King ... he knows of the troubles that Queen Atalya is having, but his presence, or even just the knowledge of his existence, would only make things worse, not better. Sir Valdemar came here to ask him to return, but he refused, and Sir Valdemar only left when we discovered the truth of Aragost's identy."
Shael looked chagrined. "I really didn't mean to say anything," she repeated softly.

Kara understood, it had to be pretty bad still if they were willing to forgo a Queen, which had been the tradition she understood. She thought, perhaps she should also visit there too someday, maybe.... someday.
"It is alright," Kara murmured, "I guess I shouldn't be surprised you hadn't realized."
"I won't tell," Feng smiled, "I'm a nut, but I'm not that nuts. Ah... but it explains why Lin stopped searching, she calmed down after the whole thing. Well, calm as she'll ever be trying to do everything."

"But it's best not to talk about it on the ranch, either," Aliya added softly. "While there are ... a good number of hands who do know, many of them also don't, and Aragost did ask that we not make the knowledge widespread."
She paused, one finger at her lips, and looked thoughtfully between Feng and Shael.
"By the way," she added casually, folding her hands in her lap, "Feng, has anyone told you yet about Shael and Adonai?"

"Ah..."
Feng's mind switched gears as she was trying to figure out what Aliya was saying. One would think this would be quite obvious seeing as she did see the two dance with each other.
"About.... well no one has said anything, but Ryu and I headed straight for this place as soon as we were told after we caught the two dancing in the clearing."
It clicked, it was hard for it not to click seeing as this was the mer who had embarassed Amdir about Aliya.
"Oh."
"And she gets it..." Kara smiled at the look on Feng's face, "Feng don't pounce please."

Shael blushed faintly and smiled widely at Feng. "As soon as our house is finished, we'll be moving in together," she murmured, the tips of her ears a bright, bright red.
Aliya grinned. "No need to be shy about it, Shael. You're finally going to be my real sister, even by blood."
Alyse finally looked up from her book. "Does that mean she wasn't really our aunt before?" she questioned curiously.

Kara thought about it and didn't really know how to answer that. This had never happened to her before, she couldn't say yes, but she couldn't say no.
"She was," Feng replied, "It's just it makes your aunt even closer than ever before!"
Leave to Feng to come up with something like that, but then again she was an aunt technically speaking. Even if Feng acted like a child still sometimes.. sort of... she's growing out of it.

Alyse smiled brightly. "Oh, good," she murmured; and she promptly returned to her book.
Aliya laughed, shaking her head slowy as she looked at her daughter. "Ah ... she's more like Adonai than me," she grinned. "Always with the books."
Shael giggled. "You make it sound like a bad thing. She reminds me of Shiro, actually ... Elnara's boy. He liked reading, too."
Aliya grinned. "Yes ... give him one book and next thing I know, he's read all the books in the house."

Kara giggled at that, "Thank goodness his father is a librarian, though it wouldn't surprise me if eventually Shiro will have read all the books there as well. I'm waiting for the day he tells me or his mother that he's run out of things to learn as it is."
She chuckled at that, it wasn't a bad thing, it was just a challenge that was all.
"I think the two would get along very well, though Shiro didn't come this time around..."

"I would ask if you could take him next time you come," Alyse spoke up, flipping a page and continuing to read, "but Adan said that if he does, then he's going to go with him and Aragost into the mountains again, so I still wouldn't get to spend much time with him."
She lifted her eyes from the page momentarily. "But I'd like to," she added.

"I'm sure he can't spend all of his time up in the mountain," Kara smiled, "I'll go do that then. Shiro did seem to his stay here, though if he comes Kaito would have to come too...."
She mused on this, at least she was pretty sure Kaito would want to come.
"On the other hand I'm sure just a day back home without Shiro wouldn't make him too fidgety..."

Aliya smiled. "Kaito was much better behaved the last time he was here than the first time," she agreed. "I'm sure he would be fine for a short while withou Shiro. I suppose though that Ura would come with him ... they seem inseparable, I have to admit. Is there some ... particular reason for that?"
She had found it strange, to be honest, the way the demon had followed Shiro around as if Shiro was his mother.

"Ah...." Kara chuckled a bit sheepishly, "Ura... is a magical mishap, the reason why people do not read aloud from magic books. Though to be fair, someone's Shiro's age reading aloud normally would just not work, for reasons of butchered pronouncation or not enough magic."
She shrugged a bit, she had no idea how it happened.
"Ura was summoned... I think... since Shiro was the one who did it, I think that's why Ura sticks around him so much."
Though the resemble between the two suggested more than that, but she was certainly not going to suggest that Shiro was a creator, though it was quite possible.

"Now that's interesting," Shael commented, her brow furrowing thoughtfully. "I don't think even Aragost could do that ..."
"Wasn't that how the dwarves were created?" Aliya asked her.
Shael nodded. "Through the pride and arrogance of one of the Valar ... I don't remember which one now, Aragost would know."
"Considering he was there," Aliya agreed.

"Since from the sounds of it, it's not the accident you're referring to, but the act of bringing something forth by words?" Kara asked.
Since she was familiar with those type of spells the most, even though they they were troublesome.
