Kane was now so close that he could see the depths of the waters with all the rocks and moss and plants. No fish, of course. Kane didn't think that they particularly wanted to be under where he was at the moment. A split second before reaching the water he realised that despite having paid special attention he'd completely missed most of the colours and everything of the journey from clifftop to lagoon pool. It really was a testament to how quickly he'd fallen and how limited his brain processing skills really were. Kane found it quite humbling.
As he entered the water Kane made sure to keep his entire body ramrod-straight. He could deduce how a slight mispositioned limb could result in much pain. He was also glad that the pool was relatively deep, because getting your head bashed in on a rock after having fallen so quickly and efficiently wouldn't be a fun thing at all.

After the sheer thrill of cutting through the water quickly evaporated, Kane remembered that they were in a competition and that he would have to act quickly. He pulled up with a medium amount of effort and started to pump his legs. His khakis billowed around his legs as he surfaced for air and then dove back down again, and Kane found himself having to readjust to the different lighting within the pool. Why Shinichi wanted pearls he didn't know, really. Maybe it was just the whole glamour of the thing. And maybe pearls were good for money. Kane hoped to keep these as souvenirs of the day, though, to give his mother and Hana-chan and all. With that thought in mind he resolved to find her the best pearls and dove down deeper, where the water turned murky. He kept his eyes peeled for the distinctive rippled dull sheen of oyster shells.

However, the darkness of the water made it difficult for him to see. However, he did spot Maya loping amidst the waters, looking for all the world like she was on a hunt. Kane hadn't really spoken to Maya in ages, and he felt quite awkward being in the same pool as her, wet and partially clothed. Even though he knew she wouldn't take it that way. Anyway, BACK TO THE PEARLS.
Deducing that maybe the lack of success in this area was due to Maya having looted the lot already, Kane decided to move away. He pumped his legs and pushed himself through the water to the other side of the pool. Since his first breath ahd been taken hastily, he was quickly running out of oxygen and would have to surface soon. However he decided to take a quick look at the depths to try his luck.

[lol everyone either wants to kill me or seduce me.]
The silent recluse watched as each contestant got ready. Maya was the first to strip, revealing her tanned muscular body. Her form stayed within a sleeveless shirt and shorts. A few battle scars here and there, but the girl could be considered attractive, if her attitude wasn’t either to kill to retreat away. Shisei was more interested in the fact that the crow of her affections was not there. “Is she doing this alone?”. Why hadn’t Xyn followed? The youth could not come up with an answer, but there was one thing certain. This must be the first crack in his protective shield.
Maya leaped off the edge without any type of form to diving in the water. Only at the last minute did she do what Ero-sensei had stated. Her body quickly disappeared underneath the water. Next to go was Karite. Silver eyes first had to say a few wooing words to his lover and give her a small peck on the forehead before getting ready. “Give me a break…” the snake watcher thought, slightly rolling his eyes. Ero-sensei better release his imprisonment soon. Shisei had better things to do than to watch a growing romance novel. The child also stripped his body similar to Maya’s. Tanned and scarred although his were much more evident. Especially the one garnished on his cheek. Not something Shisei cared for. Many warriors saw scars as a trophy of great victories and battles. The snake saw them as imperfection. After all the greatest warriors were the ones who could go through consecutive battles with the least amount of wounds. The grass hair youth then leaped off of the edge, his form better than the amazoness he looked up to. It showed that he was more used to swimming. Perhaps.
Finally there was Kane. His team already taking the last start. The pretty teen was slightly shocked that he did not know how to swim. The serpent was not ashamed of this. He had always planned to learn on swimming. It was just something that never came up. When he went on his year of vagrancy, his path never carried him to places where much swimming was needed. Or at least the jobs he was given did not have to do with ocean diving. There once was a time where his class was carried to swimming. Shisei had gotten most of it down. His major weakness was not being able to tread water. Of course Shiu got it all on her first try.
With not much practice after that event the snake boy had forgotten how to swim. Still he showed no fear of the water. The dread head only nodded when Kane said he’d teach him. Not that he really wanted to, but it couldn’t hurt to learn. The blonde remained in more clothes than the rest. The senior looked slightly restless to Shisei as he went to the edge. Then his cream form leaped and like the others he performed a decent dive. He and Maya were off quicker than the poet and already searching for deep treasure. The boy did not learn much from this. His efforts would prove more bountiful while the three searched for pearls. “Come on Kane-sempai. Show Maya-sempai and Karite just how strong you are.” the snake shouted loud to boy, but his voice still devoid of enjoyment or exhilaration. “Also show me how strong you are Kane.”. The snake was already plotting.
+1 Kane

Maya turned her gaze upon another body in the water ...
Kane!? Maya jerked sharply, losing her concentration for a minute. Stupid..! She was being stupid - why should she care about the feminine boy? She scowled at him underwater and followed him. If he found an oyster, she'd be close behind him, ready to grab the next one and keep it from his slender form. She swam easily, following him at a 'safe' distance, but still close enough to yank at his leg...you know, in case the oysters bit him or something. Maya lurked behind the pretty boy, watching his every move.

Karite saw a shadow of a man pass him on the way down. It seemed he was having to much fun and forgetting to concentrate on the task at hand. Streamlining his body the boy entered the water with not so much as a distant drip. As he began to slow himself he looked around and could see Maya and Kane were slipping further ahead of him. He would need to speed things along if he was going to beat both of them to the finish line. Competition was his thing and he hated being second best. He would be stronger and he would be better than anyone else ever to graduate the academy. Starting her and now with this task.

Karite was going to be fine now he was in the water. It was colder than he thought which was good cause it would slow down his body now and he would be well on his way to finding something. Noticing that shadow that passed him and Maya were swimming close to each other the boy decided he would do something different and swim closer to the bottom. That way it would be easier to swoop in on the unsuspecting prey. Why he was hunting for pearls at the bottom of this damn cliff was beyond him but it was all he had to do today that was better than burning up chakra. Swimming along the bottom Karite began his search for the pearls. He hopped he was faster then Maya or the blond haired boy.

Karite swam through the water making good time. He had to keep swimming though because he hadn't seen anything yet and Maya and Kane had a lead on him already. Swimming closer to the floor he began to see a flicker of light. Shaking his head as quickly as the water would allow he saw it wasn't his imagination. Under the water was the first pearl and it seemed the other two so called gennin missed it. Grabbing the pearl Karite kicked off the ground to quickly push forward and see if there was anything else he could find that the other two missed. He had one, but he needed two more and he was sure how much longer he could hold his breath.

Karite continued his search in the murky waters of the deep. It seemed there wasn't much down here left. The gennin seemed to have better eyes than he first thought It was hard to tell but it seemed that anything worth taking had already been taken by the others. Trying to swim harder he figured if he could just get in front of the two he would have a better chance of getting the pearls before them. With such a large lead he didn't see how he was going to be able to get past anyone. This might be were he lost his momentum in this competition.

(As much as I would like to use both rolls ignore the second one.)
Karite was determined and it showed in his strokes now. He was swimming not to find anything just yet. He was swimming to pass his competition. He was from the wave country and he wasn't about to let anyone from who knows where best him in the water. Pushing himself harder he began to move ahead of the two seeing them from below. Then as he neared a distance close enough to call a lead he bean to slow. He had made a gap which meant the first pickings where his. Now all he had to do was find the next pearl. As if he thought it into existence there was a shine of light like the last. Slowing down enough to sink to the bottom the boy snatched the pearl and kicked off the floor leaving a swirling dust cloud. One more and he would clam this competition for himself.

Karite held on to his spoils of what as if they were his life and cause of death. He would need to speed up if he had any chance of winning but he couldn't bring his body to move. His shoulder was still aching and his chakra had drained of his energy He would need to hurry this up much longer and he would began to lose air which would cause him to lost more than just the competition. Maya was successful - she jetted by Kane's form, spotted Karite, but swept in to grab her target: a fat oyster just begging to get cracked open. She hammered at it easily, popping open the small mouth and stealing the tiny moon from within the darkness of the oyster's night. With a grin, she popped the second pearl into her mouth, that, too, held beneath her tongue. It was slightly awkward, but Maya preferred feeling awkward to accidentally swallowing a pearl and having to find another one. Maya decided that maybe she would play nice - she left Kane's side and swam over Karite, back towards the way they had all come. Maybe she'd have better luck going back, since they were sure to have shifted the sand beneath the water just by swimming by it.

There! Perfect! Maya dove immediately, fleshing out the last oyster and popping it open, ridiculously happy with herself. She stole the small prize from the shell and dropped the oyster back on the ground, popping the last pearl into her mouth and clamping her teeth down, holding it between her teeth and her cheek. No way was she taking the chance and swallowing one, not with Kane and Karite down here looking for the same thing she was. Kicking hard, Maya broke the surface of the lagoon and inhaled deeply through her nose, treading water easily and then swimming to shore. She made her way back up to where Shinichi stood, spitting the three pearls into her palm and setting them on the ground. She got dressed again, shivering slightly but glad that her clothes were dry, and when she was dressed, she somehow, magically (because for some reason all women have the inborn ability to do so), took off the bottom layer of wet clothing and dropped them on the ground. She picked the pearls up and put them in her pocket, reaching for Baki, who had come to her side, and scratching his ears. She had no partner for the last 'trial', since everyone was already paired off. In any case, that was...kind of fun.

The snake child watched in silence as the three raced in the cold water. He was not envious at all. This type of weather swimming. Someone’s liable to catch pneumonia from it. Then again that was probably Ero-sensei’s plan. He’d be the type of sadist to get off on watching this type of torture. It seems like his partner with maize hair was quickly becoming third in this contest. Perhaps his partner was too girly for the contest. Although then Shisei would have to go in and then he would be cold for the rest of the day. He could not take off his shirt for certain reasons, so this was the best way. Kane would have to do it. Peering to the right slightly, the Orochi could view the shadowy form of Maya below the sea. She looked to be returning to the surface. Could the female be done already? Her body was definitely prime example of physical fitness. First one in. Despite the irregular leap she still clutched the pearls. And in her mouth too. Even if jutsu could not be learned from her, silent snake could learn a lot of physical fighting techniques from her. That is if Xyn did not get in the way. In this competition though she was probably the main threat out of all the teams, despite not having a partner. The boy continued his surveillance when a loud and odd speaking voice with that accent made itself present. The gold eye tilted slightly over his shoulder to see the creator of that noise. “Him?”. The amber suns were surprised to see this figure.
“Oi! Oi! I knew I’d find you here! That I did.” Freckles and smile with a gap in it in full glory, came the boy from the playgrounds. A smile on his face despite the tragedy from yesterday. The day before he and the band of children had almost met the grim reaper if it was not for the Anbu savior. They all stayed in the hospital for the rest of the day. Brassa had woken up early to check on his friends and then left the hospital. After what had happened he wondered about the shinobi students in the village and what may have occurred. When he made his way through the village, planning to get some fruit from the playground, his ears picked up of a festival. It’d be some fun to do while Mia, Lia, Fay and Sevvi rested. The boy left a note just in case they got up and felt able enough to be adventurous. Now that he was at the lagoon, freckle face saw one of the few students he interacted with. “Shisei-kun! I knew you would have been here.” his voice yelled as his feet moved him closer to the serpent youth.

Orika couldn't help but gawk as Maya took off her outer clothing to reveal the perfect female body. Her skin hugging tank top revealed powerful muscles that rivaled the jounin, perhaps even surpassed them to an extent. In close combat, she was definitely someone to fear. As Maya leaped into the waters, Orika leaned to the edge and watched the scarred girl fall faster than a stone, faster than she'd even thought was possible. It wasn't until the last third that she really got into the mood and finally hit the water with a dive worthy of the Olympics. Her admiration was interrupted by a tight hug from Karite, then a kiss to the brow. Orika giggled and replied with a jubilant "You got it!" before Karite let go of her and tore off his mesh shirt. Even though this was the second time she'd seen him half naked, the girl still felt the excitement heat up. She longed to trace those scars he had, evidence of the fun-filled life her boyfriend had led while she'd been stuck on a secluded farm. His cry of sheer joy sent shivers down her spine and caused a smile to creep onto the girl's youthful features. Out of the corner of her eyes, Orika could see Kane and Shisei making an alliance. They weren't friends or even partners, words reserved for relationships where the people didn't use others solely to advance themselves. However, it was interesting to hear that the dreaded dreadhead couldn't swim. Orika stored that piece of information away and glanced back down the waters. surprisingly, Karite's drop was even faster than Maya's, his body looking more natural in free fall. Next to take the dive was Kane, who seemed clumsy, even inept at falling, if that were even possible. Orika watched the scene play out in mild amusement, at least until Karite started grabbing pearls for himself. A look of surprise crossed her face, which rapidly turned into disgust. With as loud a voice as she could muster, Orika bellowed in rage down below, her voice easily carrying to the traitor's ears, "We're supposed to be a team, Karite! Well, you can forget about that now cause I quit!" With a huff, Orika shed her jacket and shirt, then kicked off her pants to reveal a loose orange cami and hugging shorts. With a furious cry, she took a running start and pushed off the cliff wall towards the pounding water below. The winds hit her face like a slap as Orika tried to flip her body around, ever cell of her body fired up as the adrenaline surged. She was powerless in the air and if the girl didn't do something quick, she'd hit the water the wrong way and give Shisei the ultimate weapon to humiliate her with.
