After Sukotto had finished briefly speaking with Shinichi, the students began to respond to the words that the Kage had so formally announced. The Uchiha's bright red eyes drifted over to a boulder that seated one of the students who seemed to have been ignoring the person who was so eagerly talking to him. Upon further inspection, Sukotto realized that the student on the rock was in fact the young Orochi, who he had met under strange circumstances. While it hadn't been the best encounter that he had experienced, the genin remembered that the boy seemed to have had his wits about him when he first entered the village. For the time being, Sukotto couldn't tell if his silence was a result of deep thinking, a method to stifle the little gadfly that was buzzing around his head, or a combination of the two. Just moments before he allowed his eyes to fix on another candidate, the Orochi spoke to one of the other students, condemning her for having a lack of interest in learning a new jutsu. The boy then demanded that the Kage of Shimagakure take time out of his day to teach the technique. Such a forceful statement required either extreme confidence or stupidity and the boy really didn't come off as dull. Sukotto smiled as an idea formulated in his mind, causing him to intercept the Orochi's question before Shinichi had a chance to respond. "Kage-sama, I'll teach the jutsu to the boy. I imagine that you are quite busy with the festival and I could use the practice training one of the younger ninja."

Sukotto still needed to spar with Maya before he would be able to train the boy, so he would give him something to do if Shinichi accepted his proposal. He figured that there was a strong possibility that the Orochi resented him in some way or wouldn't be willing to wait to learn the techniques from him, but if that was the case, the Uchiha would have to consider alternative means to get the Orochi to cooperate.

As he awaited the situation to resolve, Sukotto continued his search for more prospects for his future ambitions. Shinichi had spoken to a girl who appeared to be slightly older than most of the others in the area, so Sukotto figured her for a low level genin or at least very close to that rank. She definitely didn't have the build of a taijutsu fighter, but the Uchiha could sense that a lot of power was hidden beneath her exterior and figured her for more of a ninjutsu or genjutsu user. The Kage seemed to trust her enough to give him information about something, so Sukotto figured that there was most certainly something to this female shinobi. His Sharingan even revealed a chakra flow in her unlike any he had ever seen before, leading him to believe that she possessed some sort of special clan ability or trait that he was unaware of. He would definitely have to keep an eye on her in addition to the Orochi.

"Even if Im far away, and alone, I can be sure that youll find me there. This I know." Eri stopped on her right foot, stretching her leg up and placing all her weight on her tiptoes while her left leg folded up. She stood like a crane gazing over a field, taking in a breath as she took a moment to observe everyone. Her voice was perfect, just as she had expected, but the time for practicing was over. Now that her voice was warmed up, she could use her subtle tones more effectively.

It spoke!

Eri flinched when the adult took notice of her, dropping her leg down. Her arms loosened around her chest just so she could take her stuffed dog in her hands and hold it in front of her face.

Food... festival... dorms... that person was definitely the leader on this island. Not to mention, the boy in front of her called him kage. This was very interesting. The only thing hiding the devious plot forming in her mind was the long, floppy eared brown dog still clutched in front of her. This kage was speaking directly to Sukotto, and he even responded as to being able to teach another boy. He definitely had some skill, perhaps she could use him. It was very fortunate that she encountered him first.

"U-um, oniichan?" Eri's voice whispered innocently, somewhat muffled by the stuffed animal. It was a high pitched note that at first notice belonged to a much younger child. She peeked her eye out from underneath the dog's right ear, appearing to be intimidated by Sukotto's presence. Acting timidly was always the best way to get boys to fall for her charm.

"I-I don't wanna get lost. C-can I go with you?" Eri could hardly contain her smile. If this boy was going to teach the younger boy a jutsu, she'd learn it as well. She couldn't have planned such a situation any better.

Maya shook her head - "I thought you wanted to," she said simply, and rolled her shoulders, stretching out the kinks that had gathered there. Maya, however, turned her head when she heard her name and the word 'spar' in a sentence. Xyn she would never hurt, but Sukotto..? A small smile tugged at her lips, and she took a step towards the Uchiha teenager.

"Say wha, Suko?" she purred, interested. A new style of taijutsu? Would she be able to learn it too? "A new style? Can I learn? Is it Uchiha-style?" The words fell from her mouth faster than she could stop them, but she was eager to know what sort of thing Sukotto had in mind. She turned back towards Xyn, a smile on her face -

"A new taijutsu, Xyn!" she chirped, almost the polar opposite of how she had been a few minutes ago. The thought made her giddy, and it showed very clearly on the girl's wild face. The tears in her sleeves from where she had ripped them only served to increase the feral look, though Maya, had she known, probably wouldn't have minded. Baki growled next to her, headbutting Sukotto and pricking his ears, the lion's question silent.

'Do I get to fight too?'

Karite watched as Orika petted Baki and smiled. Maya was wrong sometimes but to say Orika was no family of hers if she meant so much to him was kind of wrong. It seemed her and Xyn were pretty close as well. His thoughts as always were cut off by the energetic girl. He himself calming down just smiled as Orika dragged him in close. He just breathed in deeply admiring all that was her. As he was yanked again in front of Ero-sensei he looked very blankly at him. His silver eyes peering onto his brow like heavy laden hooks of some sort. Looking back at Orika Karite just watched as she licked her lips removing the salt water from them. In his mind he played over a wonderful night in the hot springs and the perfect taste of her lips. Even a perfect view upon a perfect moon and even then he could still see her in all of it. She was perfect beyond even nature it seemed. Then it rang in his ear louder than war drums on the horizon and burning villages in the distance "I don't like jutsu. Are you sure we have to learn them to graduate?" The reaper had completely forgotten one of the most important things for his graduation. He still had four jutsus to learn and still had to impress Maya somehow to get into the Tategami clan. "Anything is fine with me." Karite spoke lightly his silver eyes seeming to look at the stars so far off that they were having a secret conversation of sorts. Something was playing in the Reapers head that only he could see and only he would know of. Something was in tugging at the magical chords in his heart that caused him to look like a zombified pretty boy.

As if petrified or frozen to his spot, the snake child made no movements. His slow breathing was all that divided him from a sitting corpse. Even when the little gadfly had landed upon his head the maverick made no movements. The little insect crawled down his forehead onto his eyelid. Because of the boy’s black makeup it seemed as if the insect disappeared into his eye socket or into a shadow. Shisei kept his thinking to himself. While his mind was on something prophetic and sinister a small trace of his brain was trying to identify the growing number of people around him. It seemed like only a few minutes ago when he just had to put up with Brassa’s banter. Now the rest of a happy-go-lucky band was around him. His ears had first taken in a person singing, most likely a girl by the sound of the voice, and a familiar voice near it. Where had the child heard that voice before? It was the voice of someone Shisei had heard before yet it seemed so long ago that his ears picked up that distinct tone. The loner’s mind partially processed all the faces he had seen on Shima and some of the people before he came to the island. Finally his skull came up with one possibility. There was a decent chance, exactly 73.54% in the snake’s mind, of who owned that voice. “Is that the rude boy? Shouldn’t you be off somewhere doing promiscuous things with the woman in the grass skirt? Besides what can you teach me that Ero-sensei cannot?” Shisei stated firmly, but with his body remaining in the same position. His eyes remained clothes to the world allowing his ears to evaluate his surroundings instead.

The Uchiha fixed his concentration on the youngster who had previously been singing as she addressed him. While she appeared quite shy on the surface, Sukotto concluded that it took a great deal of courage to approach a larger individual who brandished red eyes, and this fact won his acknowledgment of her for the time being. "I don't see why not, I could probably show some jutsu to you as well if you'd like." At that moment, Sukotto wondered what Senritsu was up to. She hadn't taken him up on his offer to join him at the training grounds and this caused him to wonder if she still wanted to spend time with him for the rest of the day. After his mind snapped back to attention, he realized what he had just agreed to and felt the need to set a condition so that his own training wouldn't get bogged down. "However, I will not be a babysitter for Shimagakure's youth, so you'll have to find someone else to tag along with after a while because I'll need to return to my own training eventually. Sound good to you?" With that said, Sukotto smiled and blinked his eyes back to their normal hazel color while forming the Ram seal and concentrating on his chakra a bit. He noticed that his talk with Shinichi had taken hold of Maya's attention and realized that he'd want to be at full strength if she agreed to spar.

"Indeed, a style of my very own making. I call it Phoenix Form." Sukotto had forgotten that Maya's clan had been notorious for learning multiple styles of taijutsu. It wasn't necessarily because of a special kekkai genkai or clan trait, but the Tategami always seemed to have a wide arsenal of physical attacks. "It isn't really Uchiha-style, but it definitely suites my body better than regular taijutsu, extra powerful taijutsu, and acrobatic taijutsu." He smiled broadly as she barraged him with questions; it was good to see someone so eager to learn about something that he had worked so hard to create. "To merely begin developing the style, I had to do a lot of running to make my body fast enough to handle what the taijutsu required of my body." It was quite a feeling to have someone request to learn something that he had made, so he couldn't resist trying to tempt her into wishing to learn it even more. "But if you managed to get yourself up to speed, I would definitely be willing to teach it to you sometime!" As a low rumble reverberated from Baki's chest as he touched his head against Sukotto, the genin couldn't help but wonder how he could have ever referred to the animal as a pet. The lion probably had more personality than many shinobi in the village! While he had planned to fight Maya alone to test out his new taijutsu, the Uchiha didn't have the heart to deny the beast. "I was thinking that the two of you could take me on in a taijutsu match, keeping weapons and the damage-dealing kind of ninjutsu off limits so the three of us don't injure ourselves for the upcoming exams." Sukotto gripped his hands into the Ram Seal a little more tightly as he awaited the pair's response, eager to test out his creation against the mighty Tategami and her lion partner.

Finally, the genin turned his attention on the Orochi boy who had already seen fit to bring up the events of the night that had occurred during their first meeting. Sukotto knew that he had been quite rude and didn't yet deserve the respect of the student, but if the Orochi had what it took to aid him in his future ambitions, he would find a way to gain the boy's favor. "Well if you wish to continue to be treated like a child, then I'm sure one of the adults could babysit you for a while. However, if you come with me and I see a fair bit of potential in you, I would be willing to help you achieve a level much higher than you could get to by chasing around the busied older shinobi and asking for help." There were many other strong students that Sukotto could train, so he felt no need to beg the boy for anything. He realized that the Orochi and himself would have to climb over the wall that was constructed during their first encounter and that took a bit of tact, but he simply wouldn't waste his time if that barrier was too difficult to ascend. He continued to focus on his chakra, as he spoke to the boy once more before waiting for everyone's response. "The offer stands, you may take it or leave it."

Shinichi merely nodded at the information Serena gave him, silently processing the bizarre news. He played with the coarse hairs on his chin, wondering what kind of jutsu Mizugi cast in order to fuse his body to the waters. As a ninjutsu expert, he regretted to see such a powerful jutsu lost forever. "But that bloody fool forgot to account for winter and so he suffers every year," he mumbled, more to himself than anything. "I'm guessing since you stopped talking that you didn't find any more information, like how to stop him? Great... Well, it's your mission, kid. What do you suppose we do?" the Kage asked. He had a few ideas in mind, but he was hoping to see just how smart and creative the Raiken really was.

After listening to Sukotto glower about his new jutsu, Shinichi was enthused to see what kind of technique the boy had invented. He said it would suit his fighting style in a way Goken or Capoeira couldn't, but what exactly did that mean? Shinichi examined the boy, trying to judge his strengths from what little he knew about the teenager. Sukotto was Uchiha, yes, and knew fire jutsu, plus had the potential to learn way more devastating fire attacks. Shinichi absentmindedly touched a spot on his upper back as he mused about how taijutsu could possibly be combined with ninjutsu. Well, Sukotto did mention something about the Phoenix, an animal renowned for its control of the flames. Was it possible that he invented a sort of fire dance, a taijutsu style that relied more on the strength of his ninjutsu than on speed and strength alone? Interesting. "I'd love to see your new jutsu, Sukotto, but I'm afraid I have other matters to attend to. A word of warning, though. Keep your emotions in check and don't let the excitement of this jutsu overpower your judgment. Do you really want to show everyone here, or anybody in fact, a secret weapon that might be better used in a surprise attack later on?" Who knew when these kids would spark a dispute where they'd be inclined to fight each other?

The glare he gave Orika when she yelled that she hated jutsu was enough to stop a charging bull in its tracks. "Jutsu may very well save your life one day, kid," he growled. At least she had the sense to want to learn a jutsu that though little used and little learned, proved to be greatly useful in combat. He'd have to coerce Serena to learn Rope Escape one day. In a little better mood with this realization, Shinichi replied in a slightly softer tone, "Though I can see where you're coming from. When I was a child, I thought jutsu were stupid too. All I wanted to do was concentrate on swords. Ha, look where I am now. But anyway, learn those jutsu, Orika, if not for the joy, then at least to graduate."

Shinichi's scarred, stern face turned to grimace at Shisei. "At least try to use sense when you're annoying people," he snapped, "No one in their right minds would even associate with that brainless, whimsical, good for nothing stoner. Didn't your mother teach you to respect your elders, especially if they're about to teach your something? God damn it, Shisei, you've just proved that you need even more time with Maya. I sincerely doubt you three have settled your differences and lifting my ban would just be an excuse for you to run around unchecked. Who knows what damage you three will do?" The Kage shook out his head in disgust at the incredibly distasteful brat. "Sukotto, teach them whatever you wish. I'm pretty sure you can pull off teaching and sparring at the same time with all your energy." In fact, the studious teen could probably add in a love affair at the same time if he wanted.

SERENA:
A. Burn Mizugi with torches so he evaporates and hopes he lives a better life as water vapor.
B. Research a spell to turn him back human and please Shinichi.
C. Move Mizugi to warmer seas where he is happy, but continues to violates Nature's laws.
D. Something else?

Orika giggled. "No way!" she gasped, between fits of laughter as she imagined a young Shinichi swinging around a b*****d sword twice his height. "That's real funny cause you look at your ninja-to like it has fangs and claws. Okay, I'll learn the jutsu, Ero-... I mean, Shinichi-sama. But Sukotto's gonna teach Nawanuke, right? Wouldn't it be scary to be tied up at your enemies' mercy and be subject to whatever horrible, terrible torture they have in mind?" She looked a little too happy discussing the topic. "I really don't want to learn Bunshin cause it sounds like too much effort for a stupid clone that everyone can see through and uh, Kawarimi sounds like it takes up a lot of time when a simple duck and weave would be enough," she concluded, trying to sound reasonable. Orika hummed the creepy tune she heard from that new blond girl as she fiddled around some more with the wire in her pocket while waiting for an answer. A little twist here and a little bend there... and her fingers hurt, both from the cold of diving into an unheated pool and from smashing into one of Baki's enormously powerful kicks. She smiled over at Karite. He was so easy going all the time that sometimes she had to wonder what was really important to him. There was her, of course, and Kore, but was that it?

She had all this wire left over and nothing to cut it with. If she risked taking the heart out now to snip the wire, Karite would find out about his secret present and if she tried to slip in a pair of pliers to snip the wire, Orika was afraid that she might cut too deeply and wind up destroying all her hard work. So what was a girl to do? Orika slipped a piece of the wire under her hard, crusted nails and bent it towards her, then around the large, main wire. The piece of wire that she'd found was thicker in the heart part where she'd folded it over repeatedly in the fire and thinner in the extra section. It made working with the wire much easier. Orika conceived a pretty image in her head of the final product and set to realizing her vision. She would wrap the long, long extra wire mess around the thick part over and over again so the ugly, charred piece she worked with in the fire would not show through. If she was going to make something for Karite, it had to be perfect! Orika bent and twisted the wire to her heart's content, slipping her other hand in her pocket so as not to look weird and unsymmetrical.

Sukotto narrowed his eyes at the man who took a harsh tone against the youth. While it was important to instill a high level of obedience in those that were under the Kage's leadership, the Uchiha felt that the situations with the people that the man had addressed could have been handled with much more tact. However, the genin wondered if he was being too naive in his analyzation of Shinichi. He figured that perhaps the man knew exactly what he was doing with the way he treated the younglings of Shimagakure and was incorporating a strategy that was too complex for the Uchiha to grasp at his lower level. Sukotto kept this in the back of his mind, but stuck with his original conclusion that Shinichi simply didn't know how to handle underlings as well as Ichi had. He had handled the one known as Serena well enough, presenting her with a feasible challenge that would test her mind on a level that was controlled and safe. But the way that he cursed at one of the others and failed to see the youthful nature of the girl who was opposed to learning jutsu said quite a bit on its own. If Sukotto's future ambitions were truly realized, he would definitely strive to handle situations with more grace than the Kage of Shimagakure had demonstrated.

If he had been any less mature, Sukotto would have allowed Shinichi's comment about his emotions bother him. He knew better than most higher ranking shinobi that emotions could be even more lethal than an enemy's genjutsu. The Uchiha supposed that Shinichi hadn't known him long enough to realize that he knew this fact well, so he didn't hold any sort of grudge against the man for this reason. When Shinichi lectured him about keeping his technique a secret, Sukotto couldn't help but speak up. He was planning on remaining silent and agreeing with everything that the man said, but if he were to ever command any sort of respect for his opinion on things, this would be the time. "Perhaps I've mixed my thoughts and confused myself a little, but I don't think that revealing a technique in this location would be a bad thing at all, Kage-sama." He spoke in a soft and confident tone in an attempt to prevent Shinichi to feel as if he were acting like an arrogant child arguing a fruitless point with an adult. "I believe that sharing my technique with Shimagakure shinobi is a much more powerful weapon than keeping it to myself. To further strengthen his point, Sukotto wanted to demonstrate to Shinichi that he had really thought this opinion through before voicing it, so he added one more point that he felt was important. "Even if one or two of them turned out to be rouge shinibi, most of them would benefit from learning about my jutsu." With that said, the Uchiha continued to restore his chakra, wondering if Shinichi would even bother to consider his words. As for Shinichi's suggestion about teaching the youth while sparring, Sukotto hoped that the man was joking. If not, he would simply disobey and do each of the tasks separately. The final stage of his taijutsu training was the most important and required a great deal of concentration and training the students to learn jutsu was something that he didn't want to do second rate, so he would put it off until he could give them his full attention. After feeling his chakra levels top off at their maximum saturation, the Uchiha looked back over at the Tategami and her partner with a smile. "I'm ready whenever the two of you are if you've chosen to help me out."

((Cracks knuckles))

Xyn tried not to react too harshly to Maya's enthusiasm. A new taijutsu... Xyn's lips twitched nervously, not knowing whether to give a slight smirk or an overwhelmingly dissatisfied frown.

"That's..." Xyn's face slightly shrank underneath the tall collar of his cloak. He felt as though his entire body was starting to shrink under the power of her enthusiasm. He should... at least give it a try...?

"... interesting." The boy tried not to leave too long a gap in his words. His hesitation to answer was only made worse by the rapid movement of his eyes, not knowing who to target for some type of escape from the situation. He finally turned his attention to Sukotto, since the majority of the group was now focused on him. It was true he needed to work on his physical strength, but learning a new taijutsu was a bit of a stretch. He still needed to work on some of the basics.

Munin once again edged forward on Xyn's shoulder to try and get a better handle on the commotion. Everyone seemed to be gathering toward the older human with the weird eyes. The raven wondered if this creature had something that attracted the other humans. Those eyes seemed to have some type of power, maybe it was a human lure. They certainly more attracted than normal eyes. Although considering flying over to Sukotto's shoulder, it was best not to venture near other humans unless Xyn was speaking to them directly. For all Munin knew, Sukotto might swat him away the moment he flew close. Even so, this human definitely had skill, it was most likely he had an even better treat than any of the others could give.

Victory!

Eri tried to contain herself while she inched the toy dog away from her face, but then that comment came.

Babysitter?

All his strength went into keeping her composure. Even if she was acting innocent, to refer to her as if she couldn't take care of herself, it was infuriating. She gripped her dog tightly, nearly ready to tear it in half, but she took a deep breath once Sukotto's eyes changed back. What was that? Eri's curiosity overtook her temper. A jutsu to change appearance? But why just the eyes? There had to be some secret...

"I-I won't be a bother to you, Aka-niichan." At first Eri was only acting timidly, but the other people in the area approaching was starting to make her nervous. If she went to Sukotto for protection, it might seem too sudden. He wasn't under her control yet, so she had to be careful what she did around him. She also had to be careful what she did around the others. Finally lowering the dog to show her face, Eri looked at everyone's eyes and cleared her throat.

"H-hello. I'm happy to meet all of you." Starting to relax a little, the girl moved her lips slowly into a smile as she spoke, her tone getting higher but lighter as she went.

"Please accept me as I make my way to becoming a great shinobi. I hope to one day be a shining star in the night, the last angel on Earth. You can call me princess." Eri giggled softly once she finished, keeping her eyes fixed on everyone's expressions to gauge their reactions.

His ears listened to the words of Ero-sensei as the older man reprimanded him for his words and was steadfast in his decision to keep the trio together. The man also made comments on the jungle drunk. “No one would associate eh? Feh…” the serpent stated while his posture and formed remained. The new Kage did not know of everything that went on apparently. That was something nice to kniw, but not necessarily important at the moment. The dread head's mind did wonder what the perverted male would think if he knew the position he had found the two in with a 'special' beverage. The little gadfly had returned from the pit of blackness on Shisei’s eyelid, making an unhampered walk down to the bridge of the boy’s nose. The loner’s mind was split in two in attention. One maintained a prophetic conversation that only he knew of while the other half continued its detection of the people around. The newest person wanted to be called ‘princess’ which could only mean it was a girl…. or a flamboyant boy. A child no doubt. It just maybe as rude boy put it, ‘babysitting’ that one. Sly smile seemed to be missing from the group. Of course the Kage and Maya were there. The anbu being the closest to him and the Tategami warrior being the furthest way. Apparently the uncouth youth wanted to fight her. That was the most important part. This person, Sukotto, not only knew jutsu. Apparently he also had one that none of the others had. It seems where Maya, and perhaps Kane, had failed this person could be a benefit. Until Shisei could finish think of a way to eliminate the crow from this existence it was a disadvantage to be around the lioness. The blonde poster child of male beauty was nice and all, but nothing seemed to stick out about him. Last there was Ero-sensei, but judging from his past behaviors the man would probably find some pre-teen street walker to molest and abuse. So by order of the least annoyance, the once drunk boy maybe the best choice. If he could prove himself. “Well Rude-sempai, depending on how well you do against Maya-sempai will depend on my decision.” the snake kid said. He had no fate in the second person he met on this island to win, but if the boy could do anything special that would be enough. As interested as Shisei was getting about the genin battle, his form remained in its position with his eyes still closed off from the world.

Other Voices
So many voices all around. People have intruded on the peacefulness of Shisei’s spot. With just his ears he’ll detect how many people are within the area.
