"Then you're saying we're all losers who should be killed except for Ichi-sama?" Orika bit back, frowning. Sometimes Shisei had a tendency to think so black and white it irritated her to no end. "See you," she muttered, turning to Karite, "Did you hear what I said about deer calls? They're not that tough, really." She tried to make another call, but only ended up with a croak. Crap, she must be down with a cold! Orika shivered and blew warm air into her hands, but the effect only lasted for a few seconds. "Hurry up!" the girl whined, waving her hands in an outward motion in an attempt to get Shisei to go faster. Why wasn't he running off already? Couldn't he see they were all freaking cold in the middle of a forest with wild animals all around? Okay, so it wasn't really that scary, just COLD! Orika took in a deep breath, wincing as the dry air burned into the soft tissue of her nostrils, and tried to make a really loud deer call again. It sounded more like she was trying to shout in a whispery voice...

"Shisei you got a thicker head then a rhino during mating season." Karite said shaking his head with a smile. Always smiling it seemed the Reaper was. "I dont want you dead snake eyes. I want you to relax, your just a kid if you keep acting like an adult your going to send yourself to an early grave. If your going take Kore with you. He has good senses and can smell Hamma a mile away. He wont hurt you so don't hurt him. He isnt suppose to leave my sight so I am trusting you enough to watch over my friend. If he gets hurt you have lost my trust." With that Karite clicked his jaw and Kore came to him. Picking up the cub and whispering his instructions to watch over Shisei in his ear the cub agreed and went to him. "Watch over him he is my family Shisei." With that done he looked to Orika and smiled. "I can try I am not promising anything is going to sound very good coming from my mouth right now." Taking in a deep breath and cupping his gloved hands over his mouth he grunted a few times emitting a sound of a very horny doe. "That was ok, dont you think Orika?"

The boy soaked in Orika’s words and began to walk off. “Ichi… the former leader? Didn’t he get killed in battle with my clan? Guess he must be the biggest loser. Feh. Whatever you want to think.” As he began to walk out of the forest. The ghost colored child’s stride is interrupted by his other colleague. He listened as the green haired boy asked his lion to aid him. “This pet is his family…?” the Orochi individualist thought to himself. How could someone relate a pet as their family? An animal ranked with men? Then again considering the families Shisei has seen the lion was probably the best thing. After all it only took one event to destroy the goodhearted family of Tenmoki. Once a loving family and now not a soul touches the house where they once lived. At least with animals they’re truthful to their feelings. People on the other hand… In the end it was probably better to not have any family. That cut many troubles off. Still Shisei would return the reaper his cat. The dread hair didn’t reply and only walked off with the lion child.

Kore did not enjoy the command given to him by Karite. Understanding Karite would not let him get hurt again still putting so much trust in this thing was a questioning move indeed. The cub did not falter though. he moved with the boy towards the weapon shop doing as instructed keep his nose out for Hamma. It would not be hard with him smelling as fierce as he did. Walking Kore would also keep an eye out for the boy, he was not to be trusted that was for sure.

Karite shook his head at Shisei, maybe one day the boy wold learn that everything did not come down to a battle of strength or minds. That sometimes losing was the only way to win and sometimes winning was just a different form of losing. "What does is gain a man to rule the world if he loses his soul?" Karite uttered loud enough for Orika to hear but not Shisei. Then cupping his hands around his mouth he tried his best to utter a sound that would make any male buck in the entire forest come. Breathing in deep and trying to muster a loud enough groan or grunt all he got in return was the sound of something dieing. Coughing and laughing at himself he looked at Orika and smiled. "Who knew attracting deer would be so hard." He smiled again letting his silver eyes almost disappear behind his veil of green hair.

Karite could not help but flop back into the pit and just lay there for a moment. His mind was clear for once in a couple of days and now he was doing something he enjoyed more then anything. He was using his skills to the best of his ability he was testing himself. "Orika, do you think Snake eyes is going to be ok? I know the guy is a pain sometimes but he grows on you after awhile." Karite looked at the sky as he thought about it what he was saying. He was caring about Shisei, but he was falling in love with Orika. "I am going to try this lying down. I dont know if it will work but I am in less pain down here." Karite explained as he began to breath deeply and huff trying to get a deep elongated grunt. Nothing came out again. "What is wrong with this damn hunt? Everything is going wrong."

Orika listened intently, expecting the deer to come in at any moment. "It sounded alright to me," she replied with a shrug, not sure why there weren't any deer yet. Maybe they were too far away from a pack? "Keep going, Karite!" she said with a smile, encouraging him to continue their silly game even if it didn't seem like they were attracting any deer. For all she knew, they could be telling the majestic animals to keep away! Danger, danger! Orika choked on her next attempt when Shisei made a crass comment that even she, his enemy, didn't expect to hear ooze out of his throat. By the time she recovered and spat out the bile she gagged on, he was already gone. How dare that imbecile call Ichi-sama dead AND a loser?! "You're the biggest idiot in the world!" Orika called with tearing anger to empty forests, then glanced over at Karite with her rusty eyes, wondering how he could be so calm. Everyone knew that Ichi was only turned to stone and that one day he'd be back to take the position from Shinichi-sama and everything'd be alright again. He could reverse the man's cruel decision so she wouldn't have to live with stupid Shisei and be away from her mommy at night. Orika turned away from Karite, brooding and furious that Shisei would act so carelessly against their great leader. Ichi deserved his admiration and respect!
+1 to Karite

"Except in his case, Shisei'll just lose his soul," Orika muttered, grounding her teeth so hard it hurt. There were a lot of things she didn't like about Shisei. He held other people in such contempt it was as if he were proclaiming himself a god in his quest to retain his solitary maverick image. He would do anything to remain independent and alone save in cases where his life was at stake. Only then would the boy grudgingly bend towards the acceptable medium. Orika could see herself once again squeezing the life out of the snake boy, watching his eye bulge and hearing his dying scream. Then out of nowhere, Shisei's dying scream erupted in the forest, causing the lame Orika to jump three feet in the air. She was supposed to be the one to kill him! Oh, wait, it was just Karite. "Hee hee," Orika giggled at his attempt to call a deer, "It's like this." Instead of instructing Karite on how to do a perfect deer call, only a belch escape from Orika, followed by thin raspy noises that sounded like the wind rushing down a fireplace. "Guess I don't have it down yet either," she said, rubbing the back of her neck with a gentle smile. The girl was glad to be away from the topic of Shisei. He always seemed to upset her, but it was partially her fault for letting the brat get to her too.

The happy mood was soon to past as Karite asked her a question about the boy who had dominated every conversation topic. Orika looked over at Karite, trying to meet his eyes, but only getting the green hairs that covered more of the silver orbs than she'd like. Even as he lied down, stretching out, the annoying locks still held like a curtain. Orika looked over the boy's build, noting that although they were exactly the same height and around the same weight, most of his muscle was in his legs while her strength came from her upper body. Her coppery locks and red-brown eyes radiated warmth, which matched with her fiery personality, but clashed with Karite's combination of cold, metallic eyes, smooth hair, and mellow persona. The difference made things exciting! "What are you saying?" she asked, reaching over to brush his forest green hair out of the boy's bright eyes with a soft hand. Orika had to scoot into the pit in order to reach that far and now her leg bumped up against Karite. Her brow was furrowed as she tried to get the gist of what he was trying to say. Was Karite... worried about Shisei, even after what he said? And his comment about them becoming more familar with Shisei was... disconcerting.

Why did his words bother so much? There was no argument that they did have a big effect on her, that she loved to listen to the ebb and flow of his sentences, but that was because Karite was a poet and poets sounded like that. "s**t-face will be alright," she replied hollowly, mechanically. What was wrong with her? Orika looked around, then into Karite's beautiful eyes. There was something about those perceptive orbs that made her feel so comfortable she didn't have to act like anyone except who she really was. There was no reputation for her to uphold; She just had to be herself. "I see your point," the girl said slowly, thoughtfully as she formulated her next words carefully, "I guess I don't really hate Shisei as much as it seems. But don't tell him that. He's a smart guy and a good, rational leader. I'm jealous of how easy he makes everything seems. That's why I hate him... because I'm not used to listening to other people, because I'm always used to being right and when he came along... I wasn't the best one anymore. I know that we're equals and that's what bothers me, that I can't stomp him to the ground so easily. He's just too intelligent." Orika grinned and laid down next to Karite, feeling the cool mud on her backside. Now relaxed, she made a perfect deer call and turned to Karite, grinning. "Don't be so pessimistic!" the girl chirped, throwing her hands in the air, "I can almost hear those tasty meatbags coming our way now."

Karite listen carefully as Orika seemed to spill her story to him. She was the best and it was easily seen that she was proud of that fact. He never had that problem anything he was good at was saved for his nightly escapades. "Shisei has natural talent this is true, but something he doesn't have that we both have is the ability to work with others and determination to get better. I should be good to go tomorrow morning and when I am I am training early in the morning before anyone wakes. I will never lose another fight as long as I can help it. If I do...it wont be because I wasn't skilled enough but because they where better then me." Stopping for a second to see if he could make a move on the deer calling he took a breath and instead coughed violently. The cold was beginning to effect him and it wasn't doing much for his deer calling. "I never told anyone why I came here. I came here because I needed to be free from my parents exceptions and I needed adventure. I wasn't expecting this. It was a dream come true and now it is getting even better." Getting off of his back he shook his head to let his green locks out of his face. Not waiting for any response he let his cut and rough lips tough Orika's. In that small moment he felt a spark shiver through his body. He felt alive and warmer then he had ever felt before. Karite laid back down in the mud looking up at the sky. He didn't know what to expect now. Orika was strong so if he got hit it would be painful.

Sometimes what was unexpected turned out to be what a person wanted all along. Orika breathed in the scent of Karite as he lightly kissed her, quite unexpectedly. She didn't even have time to purse her lips, prepare them for his, before something dry and cracked landed on them. Orika stared wide-eyed at the boy, trying to process what had just happened. So he really did like her, but did she share the same feelings? Her heart was going faster than Noburo at top speed! Did that mean anything? Well, Karite was a good friend and she didn't mind touching the boy's soft in all the right places, rough where it mattered tanned skin. A-and she did kind of have a crush on him, a small one. She'd been so preoccupied with taking down Shisei that her mind had little left to think about. Surely their crushes were not equal, but at least hers wasn't nonexistent. As she thought about what to do in the awkward silence, the girl wondered if Karite was waiting for a response. Just before he kissed her (she got a kiss!), Karite was talking about how he wanted excitement. Well, it WAS exciting, that first kiss and although the experience was so strange, she found she liked it. Orika grinned wordlessly and leaned over to the lying Karite, one hand cupping the side of his face. She brushed her own dried, ready lips against his once again, pulling Karite's face to her own.
In the back of her mind somewhere distant, she remembered reading something about how animals were attracted to other animals when there was love in the air, but that could have easily been from a badly written comic.

It took longer to return to the forest than going to the forest. Lugging all that stuff around was slow and tiring. The child considered giving some things to the cub, but that may cause more problems. He allowed the cub to walk before him and sniff the trail to make sure none were before him. Kore also would move to behind the boy and make sure there was not any pursuers. So he hefted covertly until snow and dark trees were the new area. The only thing left was hopefully the other two didn’t kill each other. Shisei believed they wouldn’t harm one another. They were getting along after all. Yet there was also that possibility. Well until the snake child’s eyes came into a view of an unexpected sight.
Orika and Karite were amidst a lip lock with one another. The serpent made a curious noise tilting his head slightly at the scene. So that is how it was? When did it occur? Perhaps during the battle in the farmhouse when she cried over the reaper or maybe it was during the time when Shisei was laid unconscious. Although that explained why they seemed to be so concerned about each other. Such a short friendship would not allow for such prominent feelings. Yet a crush, regardless of how short, just might. Perhaps it was love. Either way the Orochi born did not care. He did find it interesting though how things had changed within a small amount of days. One morning little hopper bounded down going to the academy and he had gotten her a piece of fruit. She seemed ok then. A few days later and everything had changed. It was a direction in fate that the Orochi could not predict.
With a shrug of his shoulders he walked quietly behind the two lovers. “Hmm… interesting. So this is how it is. That may explain a lot. Take your choice of weapon. There is an assortment in there. Unless you two rather finish up before I interrupted?” the ninja in training stated, dropping the bag and allowing its contents to be seen. He kept a gold eye on each his two peers.

Karite wrapped a arm around Orika's waist, and let the kiss take him. It was to his surprise the reaction he received from the girl but to even more then that Shisei was back with a bag full of goodies. Karite pulled back from Orika with a smile. He stood helping the girl to her feet and walked over to the bag. "I have no clue what your talking about snake eyes. Lets see what you got here." Karite tried to ignore a awkward situation. When he saw the staff he almost screamed with joy. It was much cleaner made then the staff and it seemed heavier. With the gold trim on the edges it was truly a work of art. Spinning it behind his back he brought it to the front of his body with ease. Much lighter then the Bo as well. Putting the staff in the holster he received from Orika's mother he continued to look in the bag till he found, two weird knives. They had slots for his fingers and sharp edge's on the knuckles, but they also had knives that pointed down. He didn't know what they were but he liked them. Sliding them onto his fingers he punched the air and sliced like he would with a Kunai. Close combat was about to become the reapers best friend if he could keep these. "Ahh shucks Shisei, its what I've always wanted." Karite sticking to his normal personality also had a good idea, but it meant he would have to get messy. "I think I have a plan to get the jump on the deer. We are going to have to strip down and wear mud. It will allow us to stay in the pin instead of hiding outside of it." Feeling a slight nudge against his foot he looked down and saw Kore. He was in one piece and unharmed which meant Shisei got to live for another day and so did he. Lifting up Kore he hugged the fuzzball and smiled. "Hey buddy, I hope Snake eyes took good care of you. I don't know what I would do if I lost you." Talking to Kore like he was a long lost friend was cute to some but Kore was his family and family came first in the reapers book.
Kore followed closely behind Shisei only to find that Orika and Karite were laying on top of each doing something he had never seen before. He marked it off as something humans did to stay warm and ignored it. What the lion couldn't ignore was the strong smell of deer in the air. It smelt stronger then when he had ever hunted with Shuga and Karite. It seemed like there were multiple deers. Of different smells so not of all one gender. Wondering if Karite could smell them he walked up to the boy his ears pinned against his head. Karite soon looked down at the cub and picked him up but was still unaware of what was happening around him.

Orika entwined her fingers around Karite's hand and giggled as they released the kiss. The warmth emitting from his body was plenty enough to stave off the frigid cold, but she would enjoy the boy's company even if it was boiling hot outside. She grabbed his hand and rose to her feet as Shisei came into the scene. Unlike Karite, Orika wasn't embarrassed about being caught in an intimate situation at all. It was a natural that two people who liked each other and had time on their hands should kiss and cuddle. There shouldn't be shame just because some other person should interrupt them. "Another time," she said, also eagerly diving inside the bag. "You make a good thief, Shisei," Orika remarked, immediately going for the club. However, when she lifted it and found it was metal, the girl frowned. It didn't feel right. Metal meant the weapon was lethal or could do a tonne of damage and that wasn't what she was looking for in a partner. Plus, the craftsmanship was exceptional, meaning that the club was probably one of Hammah-san's finest. She couldn't just take it forever! But for now, it would work. "Thanks, Slit-Eye," Orika said, also slipping the kami in her belt. She didn't plan on using it, but rather it was a weapon that neither Shisei nor Karite were going to use and it would be easier to give back to Hammah-san when they were done. "We ARE going to return these weapons," the girl warned, whacking the club lightly on her hand to make a point. She would make sure of it. But just in case the boys got greedy, the farm girl added, "I don't want Hammah-san to find out and kill us because he keeps good track of all his toys." Orika swung the billy club about and wrapped the leather strap around her wrist. She wondered why the club was covered in leather instead of just being left metal. Wouldn't it do less damage this way? She'd have to ask around later on. Orika perked up as Karite mentioned the word 'strip' and furiously shook her head, a small blush coming to her face. "Are you kidding?" she exclaimed, stomping on the ground to show the guys just how hard it was, "We'll freeze to death by the time the deer get here. And besides-" The girl was interrupted by the sound of thundering hoofs and looked up in time to see three bucks charging at them, their eyes on fire.

“Don’t know what I’m talking about? You two were sucking tongues like it was the antidote.” the serpent child said, crossing his arms over his chest. “Feh whatever. Just don’t jeopardize the mission.”. The snake watched as the two began taking their pick of weapons. Silver eyes taking up the staff and the pair of bladed knuckles, while the energizer bunny took up the club and kama. He expected them to take the staff and club, but to pick up the last two weapons was slightly unexpected. Shisei was planning to play with those when he had some alone time. Well at least they did not take up the fan. That item was most interesting to the snake child. Of course there were other armaments, but no one did not need to know of those. Serpentine eyes then viewed Karite as he talked to his pet. It was weird to see such words spoken for a pet. The youth had begun to wonder if his sister was ever the same way with their family animal. “If something happened to him, just get a new lion. Isn’t there another cub at the Tategami Grounds? Stop making it sound like it is the only lion left.” the boy breathed out. His ears then picked up on Orika’s words as she was speaking. Inside the shinobi in training cringed at thought of being compared to a thief. It was only because of the situation he had to do it. This behavior was not a common thing for him. His face remained as impassive as doll. “I’m good at everything. This should not be a surprise to you.” his breath replied as he began to readjust his scarf and clothing. His mouth and nose were once again covered over so that only the amber orbs peered out of his face. He left his vest off because there was simply more blood to be spilled before the day was finished.
Hopper’s next comment is what makes the boy turn back to her. Return these weapons? After all this fuss over them? While in most situations he would feel the same way of returning something not his, the child was not willing to give up something that has nudged his curiosity. “After I went this whole way to get us armaments you want to return them? I didn’t think the farm girl was such a goody-two shoes. You guys do what you want with your weapons. I’m keeping mine.” Shisei stated picking up the golden fan and hoisting it on his back. Such a luminous fan would probably bring attention when missing. The blacksmith and everyone else can accuse the youth too. Yet if they can’t find the fan, then he couldn’t be proven guilty. He’d have to hide it in a secure place and train with it during the hours of twilight. Carrying it and all his other toys back, was not an option. Before another argument could erupt Karite had come up with a plan for the deer. “Strip?” the pale child cocks an eyebrow as his muffled voice said the word. That idea just left a bad feeling with the youth. It was freezing enough already as Orika pointed out and Shisei was not planning on catching hypothermia for anyone. “What are we? Cavemen? If you two want to go play with the dead pigs in the mud then go for it. I’m not taking off an article of clothing for that plan.” Before his voice could say anymore, it was silenced by the roaring of hooves. It seemed that their prey had found them. Three calves were charging in force to annihilate the children.
