Well I guess it isn't 'get it away' gross but I remember clipping them at school once and everyone was totally disgusted. Still it's strange that they are fine when they are attached and icky when they aren't.

Still it's strange that they are fine when they are attached and icky when they aren't. I suppose it's like dead skin. Yeah or hair or anything else I guess. I guess it goes back to the natural instinct of 'dead is bad' since it tends to carry disease and stuff like that.

Or what about this? What if everyone in the world spoke English (note that doesn't mean forced)? And what if the universal system was the metric system?

And what if the universal system was the metric system? There'd be regional differences in accents and vocabulary, making some dialects more elite than others. Over time, the dialects would continue to become different, almost to a point where they became separate languages. A perfect example of this is in fact English. Take a look at the different dialects of English: British English, American English, Welsh, Scotish, Australian, Canadian, and those people who learn English as a second language (particularly those who learn Engrish). Basically, the world won't be the normal "my language is better than yours," it would be "my English is better than yours."

I think over an immensely long time everyone's accent would become the same. Maybe, maybe not.
Do you think it would be beneficial as a whole? I think it'd be morally wrong of us to force everyone to learn it or even some people because you know there are going to be people that will absolutely refuse to learn it. But, I think in the long run if everyone learned English, or French, and just had one universal language things would work a lot better. Maybe it'll contribute to world peace. Although, the cost would a lot, I would imagine.

So I have a question for the pirates. Are you actually sexist or do you just enjoy the controversiality of it?

I doubt that a unified or standarized language would ever take hold. Look at Esperanto. People feel a unique sense of pride in their own language. Hell, it's one of the things that defines a culture. I believe that if language was unified, you'd still have people preferring one person's English over another, and everything would go to hell. Good in theory, probably ungood in practice. Like communism.

Chalda So I have a question for the pirates. Are you actually sexist or do you just enjoy the controversiality of it? As to being actually sexist, that's something that only each Peabody could answer individually. As a group though, we do love the controversy of the matter. As for me well.. I suppose in actuality I'm probably the least sexist of the Peabodies, (though I don't generally know the actual opinion of women that the others hold) as I'm only in it for the humor. Do I really hate women as much as I claim? Probably not. I mean, I even have some female friends, and am not constantly spouting chauvinistic philosophy 24/7. I suppose what I am mostly against are: Feminists and Single Mothers. Feminists because they are demanding more rights than even men have, without the responsibility that men have in society. And single mothers because I generally think that children who are the product of single mothers are less disciplined and more inclined to be criminal. It's the feministic single mother that I hate the most, as they claim to not even need men to raise a child. I believe that the presence of a father is important in the raising of a child, as the father figure is often the one who can discipline a child effectively, as well as other various important life lessons. Do all women have bad personalities? No. Are they all after money? No. Are there women who I have actually viewed as more than just 'sexual objects'? Absolutely. What I do on Gaia, more often than not, is a cruel form of social satire against people. I blatantly expose those issues which need to be addressed in the manner in which I do, because if I didn't, no one would take note. Satire is all about getting people to take note of what you say. If I presented ideas in a 'friendly' everyday tone, people would over look me. Case in point, often times when I give scientific answers to things/friendly advice/good advice/supportive advice, my posts go overlooked. But when I say inflammatory things people take note and get offended, which allows me to make whatever point I wanted to make, with the assurance that people are listening. Am I as big an a*****e in RL as I am in Gaia? That depends, I suppose. Interacting with the other Peabody Pirates, absolutuly. Outside of that sphere, not as much. The people and the location determine how I act, mostly.

It was kind of neat because I would email my answers to a teacher and actually get them marked. Since it was free I thought that was neat.

I just get a bit tired of seeing your sig as if it were directed at me. But thanks for that.

Not all single mothers choose or plan to be. Some wish that their significant others had stuck around so I don't think it is always their fault. More of a case by case basis.
As for feminists most of the time I think they are wrong as well but it would be nice for things to actually be equal. If that stat about women making 80% of what men do is infact true then it's a piss off but a lot of women just want the good without the bad. I would be happy to take both and get the gender issues over with. It's a tired battle.
