Journal,

Luciel explained the function of this 'computer' device to me. She asked that I keep a record of my thoughts and feelings within it. She believes that it's the only way to get me to reveal my feelings rather than speaking them verbally. She also explained to me the use of a password, in case I wanted my diary entries to be kept secret. I intend fully to use them.

Though, I must admit using the keys on this computer is very difficult. I must hop from key to key to type the simplest words. I cannot ask anyone else to write for me. That would not go over well. So, I shall type this way until I can devise something better.

First of all, my Bond, Luciel, is very sociable. I don't think she can stand to be quiet. But she was very inviting to me when I arrived, giving me a name and a place to live right off the bat. She had strange horns atop her head, and gray eyes like Neruo. She is not human, unless she had her horns placed on her head by other means. She has many children and other occupants of the house. Most of the time, it is not quiet at all. But the windowsills and porch are safe havens.

Neruo is my acting 'older brother', even though I've come to realize that I have blood siblings of my own. He's friendly, but lazy and horribly slow. Though I am not much faster physically myself. He's very orange, and Heat element, as he told me. He knows now Heat spells that do any harm, which I suppose is good. I know only one spell, Stoneskin. I shall practice it sometime.

We recently had guests over - my mother, Aria, my father Ian and my sister Kira. While I adore my mother, I can never tell her that. How embarassing would that be? She is kind, sweet and motherly, obviously. I think she's overly concerned about me since I do not share my sister's flamboyant qualities. She, I believe, is the element of Water. She is blue, and we share prellan patterns and wing type.

Ian, my father, is green and very active. He and Kira played the dancing game while they were over. Neruo showed them how. He has insect wings, as well. Kira has a combination of insect and batlike wings. I do not know why I don't have that kind of wing, but I like mine just the same. Kira is loud and obnoxious, especially when she and a Feien named Div (or Queen, I'm not sure which) got into a fight. Kira is very strong, but selfish. I'm not sure I like her.

Neruo and I went into the shop yesterday, where I saw Div, a tall, blue Feien with horns, another very tall blue-and-red Feien named Nero, and an entirely red Feien. There were others there, I think, but I was overwhelmed. I wish people didn't want to help me so much. I'm just fine. I'm just not as social as you.

(( Cross-posted from Gyre's diary.))

3/29/05

Someone has arrived! Someone new and very pink! Patience was busy in the kitchen, watching and watering her herb garden, when the doorbell rang. Humming, she sauntered over to it, absently opening it. And there she stood! Bright, pink and very happy to be there. Patience blinked. Who was this?

"Hello! Is this Patience's house? I'm Pinka! Pleased to meetchu!" the Poke-Anthro struck out her hand to shake. Patience couldn't contain herself. A little sister!

"EEE!" she squealed and took little Pinka up in her arms. She was so adorable, and now Patience had a little sister! She had to show the new one about the house, and to all the children! The Ivysaur skipped about the house, forgetting her duties, showing Pinka all the children.

Gyre and Lucius sat on the floor on the living room, coloring. Lucius hooed and pointed when the two Poke-Anthros entered the room. The owl boy smiled and laughed when Pinka shouted "SQUEE!" at them both. Pinka promptly picked up the little owl boy, tickling his nose. He adored it. Gyre laughed and fluffed her wings as Patience picked her up as well, twirling with her in her arms.

Luciel finally arrived home, wondering why the door was left open. Inside, she saw Patience and...some pink girl...boucning around with the young ones. Patience saw her trainer and waved to her.

"This is Pinka! She's so CUTE!" she explained. Lu giggled and rushed inside. Pinka was so cute! She'd fit right in.

In Delicate Script

Journal,

This caligraphy stuff is proving difficult and time-consuming, which is quite good. Better than I had hoped. But it takes far too long to write anything important in it, so I'm just using cursive instead. I'm finally making use of the quill Lu bought for me.

Pinka's made herself at home and is keeping Patience preoccupied, which, I think, Demetrius is thankful for. Speaking of him, he's fit in nicely around here as well, even if he doesn't say so at all. He simply loves the computer Lu let him use. He's always reading or typing on it. Never says much. I guess that's okay. I mean, I don't mind too much, but I kinda wanted someone more...social.

But he's nice, when he speaks. I think his silence bothers Lu a little. But, then again, anything silent bothers Lu. I haven't had to explain her "condition" to Demetrius yet, thankfully. I'm not sure how well he would take it, finding out his Bond went out late at night to consume people. I was a little worried at first, too, but with his personality, he may not even care. Which is fine.

Maybe he's composing poetry over there?

I'm determined to take him out visiting soon, even if he doesn't like it. Lazy as I am, I'd like to get out every once in a while. Maybe he could make a poem to impress a girl?

The pink one is loud and obnoxious.

And Neruo is convinced that I write poetry on this computer device. I'm not sure why, but he is.

My Bond is strange as well, but at least she gives me my space. I still don't understand why everyone in this house has to be so loud, but they all are. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, I'm just stating my observation. The owl child doesn't say much of anything besides "Hoo." and still, he does not speak very often.

Luckily, in this house, my Bond carries a large collection of books, which I have delved into very much. During the past few rainy days, while she sleeps, I've managed to read most of Astrology and History of Gaia. There's more here, but nothing of interest. Luciel suggested going to the public library, which I agree with. It's supposed to be quiet in the public libraries, if I'm not mistaken.

"Your horoscope says that your day will be filled with pleasure and relaxation. You should take advantage of the situation by going outside to enjoy nature..." the orange Feien read aloud from the morning paper. Luciel, their Bond, was off running around somewhere. She did, however, leave behind the morning paper for her charges of sorts to read. Demetrius sat on the island in the kitchen, watching Neruo from afar. Neruo stood atop the sprawled-out paper, walking over each section as h finished reading it. He smiled brightly after completing Demetrius' horoscope. He abruptly looked up and blindly moved over to his own prediction. Demetrius was calm and careless, as usual.

"You want to go outside?" It was more of a question of when, rather than if. He knew his orange 'older brother' would take them outside regardless of whether or not he himself wanted to go. But knowing when he would have to get up was the key.

"We need to meet more people!" the Heat Feien suggested, smiling brightly. That was his intention from the start. When he first recieved the bloom, all he could think about were the wonderous social possibilities that lie within the bloom. But when Demetrius arrived, (and was not as social as he had hoped) Neruo put his plans on hold. And his laziness got the best of him a few times as well.

Floating up and over to the yellow Feien, Neruo extended a hand to help him up. This indicated that they were going to take that stroll this very instant. Quite unusual for a lazy one such as Neruo. Normally it took prodding to get him off his duff. Blinking at him, Demetrius sood up of his own accord, prefering to do things like this on his own. Neruo shrugged it off and lead the way, albeit slowly, to the open window that lead to the backyard. Demetrius followed, allowing the slower Feien some room and time.

When the duo finally settled down, Neruo on a low branch of a tree and Demetrius in the shade beneath it, the sun had set up shop right in the middle of the sky. The shade produced was quite exquisite, and Demetrius enjoyed the soft, gentle breeze. Neruo had begun to doze off, being as comfortable as he was. Even though they didn't speak for hours on end, Demetrius rather enjoyed this time outside. Neruo wasn't bad at all, though he was insistant at times. His suggestion to write poetry seemed more and more appealing as his prowess with the computer grew.

Perhaps he would take Neruo up on that poetry book...

It has been very quiet around here, and I begin to wonder where Luciel has gotten about to. She has said she discovered some sort of new fairy world, but it makes me wonder whether or not she's seeing things. Her mind, to me, seems very unstable at times.

I saw her sneaking out at night again. She comes back, a few hours later, reeking of blood. I've told Neruo of this incident and he assured me it is normal behavior. I wish to research this further.

Luciel, as some sort of apologetic gift, has bought me a book of poetry. This still does not erase my suspicions of her.

"Lu, I do believe you're disturbing the young thing." Neruo asserted, sitting crosslegged on the coffeetable. His Bond lay on the couch in front of him, arm and hair dripping off the plush surface. Her gray eyes were unfocused, clouded. Her teeh gnashed, all but chewing the couch cushion to shreds. Things bothered her right now.

"I don't think he really cares who or how much I eat. Or the fact that my diet is different than most." she said flatly.

"She is correct." Demetrius tossed back quietly. The yellow Feien sat in front of his computer, like always. He'd become a fixture in front of the screen, writing and learning much more, and much faster, than any book could provide.

Neruo stared at him, slightly worried, as any older brother would be. He could never have imagined a more...introverted Feien would emerge from the bloom as he did. And now Lu stopped caring about the feelings of her young charge. This was a higly unusual occurance.

He had to break the silence, though. "Lu, whatever happened to that blood brother you were talking about?" Curious to know that she had mentioned him once, but he never arrived. Perhaps it was all a joke?

"He's here. He just hasn't given me the time of day." Again, very flat. Blunt.

The orange Feien blinked. She'd never seemed so negative before. She probably ate someone who disagreed with her. Someone with a high anger content? Nevertheless, Neruo strived to make the household seem warmer than it was. Demetrius' typing never ceased throughout the conversation. Neruo shook his head and flew to the younger fairy, looking over his shoulder. He raised a finger.

"I'm researching Mancubi." Demetrius explained before Neruo had a chance to even ask. The Heat fairy wondered sometimes how people could do things like that.

"Bloodkin aren't listed, and very little information is out on the Web to find." Demetrius almost seemed...disappointed. Neruo also noticed many saved documents on the desktop. His little yellow friend had been busy! It was good to see something creative come of all this silence. He'd have to sneak on to read some of it one day.

Neruo turned about to fly back to his position on the coffeetable when his Bond bolted upright, teeth shining in the afternoon sun. She pulled back her lips and sniffed at the air loudly. Something was coming. More curious than frightened or worried, Neruo stayed where he was. Demetrius looked over his shoulder. Anything loud disturbed his work.

Just then, the front door burst open. Heavy steps racked the hardwood floors. Luciel's horned head poked over the couch. A tall, slightly tanned man of twenty years stood above her. His short, choppy blond hair shielded his eyes, which Neruo could see were a dark crimson. A black scorpion's tail twitched impatiently behind the man.

"Lu, your big brother is here."

And he didn't sound friendly.

Friendliness was, apparently, not a factor for Lu at all. Their Bond leapt up, with great force, to wrap her arms around her Bloodkin brother. Serath, was it? His frame seemed small, but could easily withstand the force of Lu's tackle with ease. He merely grabbed one of her sharp hips and tossed her back from whence she came. The onyx tail of his twitched again, eager it seemed. Demetrius had turned around and was genuinely intruiged. This might make a wonderful novel...

"Why do you always insist on hugging me whenever you see me?" he all but growled. Growling seemed the Mancubi's communication of choice. He shared Lu's sharp teeth as well.

Serath stood an impressive five feet, eleven inches. He had tanned skin, covered mostly by a white, silken shirt. Long, puffy sleeves covered his arms, with the ends of the shirt tucked into loose-fitting work denim jeans. He was completely barefoot as well. He did not share his Bloodkin's sensitive skin.

Neruo decided it was best just to sit and watch, and he sat down next to Demetrius, awed by the force with which the two flesh-eaters threw each other around.

Luciel stood up simply, brushing herself off. "Because I like to see you, that's why. Does everything have to be so complicated with you?" She rounded the couch to stand next to him. He had three inches on her, not including her horns. Neruo knew she could stand up to him, if need be. Serath's eyes flashed at the two fairies momentarily before he changed the subject.

Sniffing the air, Serath sighed mightly. "It reeks of Others in here, you know. You keeping a zoo now? Are there any humans about?" That, of course, was meant to be more of a do you have anything to eat?. Luciel did not respond right away. Instead, she wandered into the kitchen, effectively leading Serath away from any one who might fall victim to his wrath. Demetrius turned about as soon as the menace had left, making a digital note of the occurance.

Neruo stood over his shoulder. What do you think?" he asked as Demetrius' tiny fingers flashed over the keyboard. The younger Feien briefly looked up after saving his scribblings.

"He is not a danger to us. At least, we are not on the menu. Both of us are slow, so keeping out of his way is best, for now. I highly doubt he'd do anything to us with our Bond around. He seems angry, but I wouldn't worry about him very much at all."

The Heat Feien blinked, silently agreeing. What else could they really do but watch?

Serath, our new housemate, has made it a priority to terrorize the other residents of the house. Neruo isn’t too worried about it, as am I. His scorpion’s tail makes one wonder whether or not he poses a serious threat. It does beg the question – Which is worse? The fact that he may be poisonous, or that he may consume any of us like Luciel may be able to do? I’ve been doing as much research as possible on the subject of Mancubi with little success. Either there aren’t many of them, or no researcher has been able to get close enough to study one in person.

Our Bond refers to Serath as her Bloodkin. I’ve been taking notes about their relationship as best I can, despite the male Mancubi’s attempts to dissuade me. He has managed to scare Lucius quite a bit, especially waving his tail around the owl child. He flashes his teeth often enough as well. He shares our Bond’s shark-like obsession with exposing one’s jaws.

I’ve begun to compile a list of terminology used by this species. Perhaps, one day, I could be the first researcher with tangible information on this species. Until then, my writings shall have to be put on hold. Such things take precedence. Despite Neruo’s protests to further my creative talents, I have made up my mind. Besides, I won’t have to speak with anyone whilst doing my work.

(Taken from Ice Queen's journal with her permission. n_n )

Sunburns and Misplaced Sarcasm
"I think I got a tan?" Aleric asked, looking at his arm thoughtfully as he and Silva flew into the shop.

"Feien don't tan." Silva told him, looking around for a second. He hadn't missed this place, that was for sure. He still wasn't sure why they were coming in the first place.

"No, I think I look darker. You do, as well."

"You spent too much time staring at the sun." Silva told him, heading for the counter.

"Now, if you look up here, you can see how many books the shop has. I'm sure that if you asked Simon, he'd let you borrow one." Neruo explained. He sat up from his spot on the second-to-top shelf. Demetrius was standing on the arm of the couch, watching him, silent.

The yellow Feien had heard voices come in, but did not turn around. Neruo, though, waved when he saw Silva.

"Silva! Good to see you! ....Are you more red than usual today?" he asked curiously.

Silva twitched, thinking of the bath he had taken privately in Ice's aloe vera. "I told you, feien don't tan." He muttered before looking over at Neruo. "Flower Boy. Gotten drunk lately?"

Aleric bit back a laugh, turning to Neruo as well. "Your name is... Flower Boy?" Although he was pretty sure it wasn't. Silva had yet to say his name, too. For that matter he rarely said anyone's proper name, save Ice... "Mine is Aleric. It's a pleasure to meet a friend of Silva's." Because he had never thought he would.

Neruo smiled and laughed. "No, I haven't gotten drunk again. Though that one time was quite fun, wasn't it?" Waving generously to the new, purple Feien, he stood up and introduced himself.

"I'm Neruo, actually. Silva just calls me that...well...because he's Silva. Oh! And that young one down there is Demetrius. Say hello, 'Trius!"

The yellow Feien was far too busy to be bothered, looking over each and every book title. He mearly flopped his hand over his shoulder, slightly hoping it was in their direction.

"Charming, isn't he?" Neruo drifted back to his comfortable spot on the bookshelf, laying down again.

Silva looked at the boy for a second, one eyebrow raising slightly as he moved his toothpick slightly. Then he shrugged it off. It was Neruo that had to deal with him. And his lack of respect.

Aleric blinked, then nodded at the other male, knowing he couldn't see. "He seems... nice." He said blandly.

Silva snorted. "Why are you here, man? Your owner kick you out?" Idly he wondered how long it took Neruo to get to the shop. "Last week?"

Neruo couldn't help but snort. That was truely hilarious. "No, no, I wasn't kicked out." he managed between bursts of laughter. "Oh, Silva, you never cease to make me smile."

That wasn't meant as an insult, either.

Demetrius' ears perked as he heard one of the Feien behind him speak about him. Turning about slight, he eyed them both. More people Neruo knew. How many friends did one Feien possibly need? And where was a computer in here?

'Trius stood up finally and floated around the shop, searching for something to write with. Or, at least, to get away from those strange Feien.

Aleric blinked, confused. It had sounded like an insult to him, but the other feien had found it funny, so it was obviously meant as a joke... or the other feien didn't mind laughing at himself. "I um... don't quite understand." He said, cautiously.

"Orange Boy here is a little..." Silva started out, a little smirk playing on his lips. "Slow. Makes you look like hyperspeed."

"Oh." Aleric said, still slightly confused. "I'm sorry." He told Neruo, for some reason making Silva bite back a laugh.

Neruo sat up again. Poor purple Feien seemed...much different than he had expected. At least Silva hadn't rubbed off on him too much. At least, not that he could tell. Smiling, he stood up and began to float down, demonstrating how slow he really was.

Laughing again, he said, "I make glass look fast. Silva might be an old man by the time I get down to you guys!" He was, of course, joking, but it would take him a good five minutes to bridge the gap.

Meanwhile, Demetrius found a perch on the shop counter. No real writing tools that lived up to his standards were around. He'd just have to watch and remember.

Aleric blinked, then allowed himself to smile. He was of he firm belief that one should always be cautiously friendly to all new people. So far it had worked out well. But this one seemed used to Silva, which was shocking in itself.

"I guess we shouldn't try to get him to join the feien soccer team, then." He said dryly, glancing over at Silva.

"Not unless you want to lose." Silva agreed. "So what's it like being stuck with a juvenile?" He asked, glancing over at the yellow feien again.

Finally landing, Neruo stood up. Silva was taller than him! He hadn't noticed it much beforehand. He shrugged inwardly and began to look the shorter, purple Feien over.

"You said your name is Aleric? That's a nice name. When did you arrive?" He was curious, and dually noted Silva's question. Apparently, he wasn't "stuck" with a juvenile, like he was.

Turning an absent eye to Demetrius, he explained. "Well, it's alright, I suppose. I honestly wanted someone a bit more...social. But at least he's not rude or anything."

Demetrius looked up, watching Silva watch him. He looked away. The marroon one seemed rude. He didn't want to get any closer to him.

"A little over two months ago." Aleric said, feeling as if he were a part of the "Boys." "I was reborn." He finished, shrugging.

Silva snorted. "Sounds like a hell of a lot of fun." He drawled. Somehow he doubted the boy knew how to surf. Then again, neither did Neruo. "You seen Ruya?" He asked, unable to help himself. He hadn't seen her since leaving on his quest. For some reason he didn't want to admit how badly he had screwed up to her.

Neruo blinked. "Reborn?" That concept had confused him. Weren't Feien just regular 'born'? Like, from a flower, like the rest of them? The mention of such a foreign concept had perked Demetrius' interest, though. The yellow Feien, who was faster than Neruo, floated over to stand near them. Not ext to, but close enough to pick up on the better details of the conversation.

Turning away fro mAleric, Neruo's expression drooped a bit. "No, I'm sorry. I haven't seen her in a long time. I assume you haven't, either..."

"She's somewhere." Silva replied, shrugging. "I haven't seen her for a while, either." He glanced over at Aleric, then back to Neruo. "s**t happens, right?"

Aleric frowned, not knowing exactly what was happening. They both seemed well acquainted with the female.

"We should get going." Silva muttered.

Demetrius sighed quietly and flew off to sit on another windowsill. Neruo blinked at his sudden departure and rubbed the back of his head.

"Well, I'm sorry if I ended up ruining the mood..." Turning to face Aleric, he extended a hand in friendship. "If you do leave right now, it was a pleasure to meet you."

"I think his 'not there' sunburn is getting to him." Aleric said, glancing over at Silva, wondering why his mood had changed so abruptly. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Neruo. I'm sure we'll see each other again."

Silva grunted then took to the air, looking over at the yellow feien briefly before turning and heading for the door.

Neruo waved to them as they left. Demetrius was waiting for him on the windowsill. Sighing, Neuro took flight. It would take a long time to get home.

Now she intended to fulfill her promise to herself. She wanted, nay, needed to know why that bad man was here. He took to terrorizing everyone, and it needed to stop. Gyre would claw, bite and scratch if she needed to. And she fully intended to. Carrying the falcon mask alongside her, she stepped into the kitchen again. Staring down into the family room, her eyes went wide.

Serath wasn't there anymore.

But she could've sworn he was there just a second ago! Quickly wandering into the family room, Gyre scanned it visually. Nothing seemed out of place. Nothing missing or destroyed. Maybe he was just a grumpy man. Momma obviously liked him enough to let him into her home with her children and other companions. And Hikaru didn't seem to worried about him, either. Maybe she was just overreacting. Sitting down next to the ornate chest which held Luciel's decorative spear Heartrender, Gyre laid her weight against it, sighing.

Something was wrong, though. She could feel it. Literally. The ornate chest moved beneath her weight, which was absurd, being as heavy as Heartrender was. She didn't know for sure how heavy it was, since she had only seen the weapon, and never held it. Lu showed it to he on numerous occasions. Gyre only asked to see it because it was covered in shiny metal and jewels. It looked heavy, even for Lu. The shifting of the chest made Gyre extremely curious. Though she was told she was never to open the chest, this was an emergency. Opening it up, she peered inside.

Completely empty.

Gyre's mind quickly formulated a conclusion. Serath had taken the spear. He had to, as Lu never let it leave the family room. Ever. She even told Gyre specifically that it was an heirloom and that she had never used it, nor did she ever want to. And why else would Serath spend so much time in here?

Gyre's mind was made up. Donning the falcon mask once more over the side of her head, she made her way back to the hallway. Down to the room Serath was given to stay for his visit.
