what kind of jobs would we hire them that we would hire sprites for? sprites are easier to boss around, anyways. XD
haha...oh, so i was looking through the other games and i guess the one for either the SNES or N64 had you give your bloodtype. I think that would be cool because depending on which one you pick it will be harder or easier to get along with the bachelors/bachelorettes. :3

I remember picking bloodtype for the gaemboy version (third one if I'm correct) which I liked.^^
The jobs would be mostly just to make them available- it was in the original outline but I wasn't sure if we were keeping it. They would work on your farm and you could woo them as they did so. That was the original idea at least. biggrin

That is a cute idea. :3 Can you give me some examples?
The original outline...as in the outline in our guild or the outline from the first HM games?

Examples of which? The blood type thing or the working thing?
And it's in the outline in the guild unless I'm mixing up two different things.

Oh, alrighty, well for working I think they had in mind people doing kind of what the harvest sprites did on your farms (like taking care of the animals for you, harvesting things, etc). If we want the harvest sprites to keep doing that we could create new tasks for them to do, such as a person who can be in charge of making meals for you (kind of like a cook^^) and makes you meals so you have more energy. Or we could have a person who can take wool you get from your sheep and turn it into sweaters or scarves (which you can then sell, give as a gift, or wear yourself depending on how detailed we want to be) like your wife could do on HM3 for gameboy. Tasks like that which are specialty crafts or something.

ooh!! that would be so cute. i think that if we do the sweater thingy that we should take the yarn to the woman unless we're married to her. but it would be cool to hire certain people to do chores for you...maybe...hmmm...i'm getting an idea.
I think that the character should be able to invite a couple people to parties and you can raise friendship points with them by 1) inviting them and 2) having a good party. like...your house should be clean and the food should be good. so, you can either hire someone to clean your house/prepare a meal for the you (or in this case, the party members) or do it yourself. you'd eat at a certain time...maybe we should make it so that you need to eat two meals a day in the game, otherwise your stamina will tire out more quickly (or will start off lower). Like, when you wake up and at 7 pm some designated person from the valley brings you meals until you get the kitchen expansion (which would be when you could either cook for yourself or hire someone and the kitchen expansion could open up the possibility for parties). and at the parties you would have certain discussions based on the combination of people you invited to your home...depending on the combination they could get along really well or get along poorly at first unless you say something (one option of two or three) to save the party. i don't think that parties could lower your FP, but if it ends badly you won't get as many points and you might have to repair the friendship between the two (which i think would be fun). hmmm...what do you think? is it too much like sims or does it sound fun to you as well?
another question: are we going to do the bunch of sprite thingy or have just the 7 sprites? cause if we do the seven, Chef can also be another person to cook meals for you. biggrin i always felt bad for chef because he never got to cook anything in BtN.
but anyways, back to the main point, i think that it would be cool to hire villagers. perhaps 7 of the villagers could be hired just like the seven sprites. each of them needs their pluses and minuses though...maybe the Sprites cost less but don't do something as good as the villagers, who would cost more. i dunno...what do you think?
wow. long post. but really, what do you think? (so many ideas in one post...sorry for so much. they just keep flowing in)

Alright, one idea at a time, so bear with me. ^^
Yeah, making a woman come to knit you sweaters would be a little rude if you didn't bring her the wool (or if she wasn't your wife or in law). I like the parties- it reminds me of how the Starry Night festivals were in the early days where they would have dinner with you or you would have dinner with their families. It's a cute idea that I like, though I think being judged on food would be enough (unless we're making a way to 'clutter' your house or cleaning it becomes a daily task). If you make their favorite foods it should add more points but if it's a failure they are less likely to return without a bit of persuasion, like you suggested. ^^
I think seven would be a good number- once there were hundreds it became much less personal because you couldn't keep track of them all! And chef should definitely get to cook those meals that are his specialty. It's about time he gets to shine in his area of expertise. ^^
The sprites being able to do the same work as the people you can hire would be interesting, especially if we do as you suggested and have their fee be lower but that they aren't as skilled at what they do as the villagers are.
I feel like we're making so much progress! It's awesome. mrgreen

Right. Favorite foods is a good idea. Usually there are at least one pair of people who favor certain foods/drinks. I think that with the cleaning the house thing...there are a number of ideas that i have floating about...here are a few * bed making (i'm thinking that the bed should be in a seperate bedroom like how it is in BtN, so that might null that one...it would take 5 minutes though if we kept it) * cluttered sink and counter (builds up over three uses, takes 5 minutes to clean up) * dust around the house (compiles after a week; takes incremental times to clean it depending on your house size)
those are the ones that i can pull off of the top of my head. it could either be a straight forward thing or a mini game. :3
it's true that the sprites become more impersonal...i like the idea of going back to seven of them. that way it would be easier to add fairies to the Harvest Goddess. Probably seven, eh?
another idea is that the sprites could be slower. i can't really see sprites, who are affiliated with nature, not doing as well as a job as humans, but their short legs can only move so fast so I'm thinking slower is the better option.
i know!!

When you explain the cleaning like that it sounds reasonable- could be an interesting addition to the game!
If we're 'collecting' things to revive the Goddess as seems to be a current theme of the newer HM games than as you said instead of doing Harvest Sprites you could have to collect fairies (kind of like in the N64 version where you had to bring the fairies back to revive the vineyard) to revive the Goddess. That way you still have the personal relation with the seven Harvest Sprites without it being too easy to collect them because instead you're collecting tons of fairies!
It's late so mind any nonsense I may come up with unless it's good. XP
Slowing them down would be good- especially since they like to take breaks when you first hire them.
Everything sounds good at the moment as far as I can tell (but it is really late for me right now so I might just be delusional. Lets hope not!).

hmmm...i know that the newer ones are making it so that you have to revive the Harvest Goddess, but i was thinking that this was more of a game like...Save the Dying Towns. so unless...maybe...maybe the Goddess is contemplating leaving the towns because all of her friends (the fairies) have left saying that the towns were going to die soon, so maybe there would be certain things to trigger the fairies coming back...maybe in selling crops and buying things because that's putting money into the towns' economies. o_O
oh...haha...i talked to my friend about the cleaning, she said it would be cute to have one of the mini games be mopping the floor the way you usually see it in anime or soemthing. do you know what i mean?

So we can kind of blend the two ideas into one... that could prove interesting. ^^
And I like the mopping idea- that sounds really cute!

Wows I can't believe you can actually do this. xD I'm not much of a computer programming person. I'd love to help out but I'm not sure how. Should I read the whole thread or can someone tell me how the game is progressing now and what help is required right now? I think I can draw new characters if you give me a description of them, though I'm not sure if you will be needing any new characters. >_________> If you do plan to hire me I should warn you that I'm much better at drawing females than males. xDD
