FluffyWuffieBunny Xsmith ShamanFreak Brainwashed subbers? I believe its the supposed "shippers" who are brainwashed. The "subtext" is like BAM in your FACE! You have to look to find the "shipper" stuff. So perhaps subtext is actually Ares and Xena and our maintext is Gabrielle and Xena. Perhaps? Of course. The mutual seduction and constant kissing is very subtle. Yes, I have to admit that physically, shipper stuff gets shoved down your throat. But as far as Xena being in an emotionally healthy (at least healthi er) relationship, subberism is for the win. I agree with that. Ares is definitely not healthy for for Xena, but i see more chemistry between them than Xena and Gabrielle.

I can deffinately see why subbers would want to be subbers. It just doesn't do much for me. I see Ares and Xena as a better couple.

hmm, after reading page 8 I have a couple of other things to say. There is nothing remotely gross about Ares....nothing. You may not find him attractive but gross? Whatever. talk2hand
About the subber relationship being more healthy than the shipper..seriously? Did you all miss season 3 where Gabrielle was responsible for Solans death and Xena then tried to kill her by dragging her from her horse???? Or how about season 5 when Xena's chakram got a taste of Gab's brain??? I'm not saying that there wasnt a reason for these things but to call a relationship where one tries to kill the other (for any reason) healthy is really pushing it. If you like Xena and Gabrielle, own it. Dont try and make them out to be this perfect couple because they weren't even close to perfect, and if they had been it would have been boring TV. IRL I would never support a pairing with Xena and Gabrielle OR Xena and Ares, both are dysfunctional, but in fictionland it makes GREAT TV.

Princessah is right. I forgot about the Solan incident. Neither coupling is very healthy for any person in it. Aside from the occasional rage and angst, Xena and Gabrielle just seem sweeter. They always try to stay together and look past things though. Ares and Xena are deffinately more magnetic. Even though Xena hates Ares, she keep getting pulled back to him.
