Storm smiled again.
"Do you know what I am? I mean, species wise? Do you know what it means? My being a drow?"

She shook her head slightly, "Ya know, something tells me that if I said I didn't know what a 'drow' is, that you'd make fun of me." She sighed "but no, I have no idea what that is!"

Storm shook her head, almost sadly.
"No, I wouldn't. Most of my kind...we aren't around anymore, not since the Extinction Wars, way back when. And those of us who are, well, we live under ground. Far, far under the ground. I'm a drow, a dark elf. Pointy ear, slender figure, almond eyes."
She grinned suddenly.

Melanie's eyes fell to the ground in sadness as she listened to Storm, then as she looked up, she saw the huge grin spread across the other woman's face. "Oh, well then." She smiled, "Ya know, I've never actually met a dark elf, other than you, of course. So how did Sparrow recruit you again?" She laughed as if there was some sort of inside joke between the Captain and herself.

Storm giggled.
"He didn't. I have my own fleet. We work together, on occasions. On big jobs, when they don't require everyone to be dead at the end."
She winked.

Melanie laughed again. "Of course, that's a good stratagy." Then she became a bit more serious. "What 'big jobs' are there?"

"Probably for about....a year." Melanie crossed her arms over her chest, a look of saddness in her eyes.

Storm caught Melanie's little private moment of sadness and recognized it for what it was: nostalgia. She smiled to herself. She's mine.
"You want a job?"

Melanie quickly pushed back her sudden sadness and tried to regain composure. She looked at Storm as if she hadn't heard her. "Beg pardon?"

Is she thick in the head as well as being human? Two strike against Melanie right off the bat, but Storm was willing to forgive one of them. Patiently, repeated herself.

Melanie noticed the look in her eyes and looked at her. "I'm not stupid....I just can't believe you offered me a job is all." Then she took one of the remaining mugs and took it over to the bar, then walked over to Storm again. "And yes. I'd love it." She smiled.
