[Lol that sounds really messed up Kawtic S: Hope you can fix your compy fine!]

"Poison?" Sensei said, testing the taste of the word in his mouth. Judging by Kira's expression the poison was bad. And he said that the clan elders had poisoned their own hero?! He'd heard enough from Batou to know superficially what the girl had done. His expression darkened and he said to Kira, "Wait a moment. I know exactly who to find."

Striding back into the dojo, he looked to Shin and Jericho and, with a quick nod, told them, "Go home and practice with your bokken. Find Hitokiri and tell him to go to the new teacher. I'm off for who knows how long and it wouldn't be good for you to be waiting here."

With that said, he was back at the doorway in the blink of an eye. You couldn't say that he didn't care for his students. "I'm not going to slow down for you," he said shortly. "I'll find that poison specialist. You can follow me to the Witch Market, or wait at the hospital. I'll be quick."

And with that he was off. He didn't even bother to put on a jacket or something and only his thin shirt and sweatpants protected him from the cold. Well he could always borrow something from Batou...

Kira opened his mouth to explain but closed it again as time was running short and...because he does not know how loyal Sensei may be to Mistress, it was probably not wise to reveal the real reason. Let them think it was a clan power struggle or something of that sort for now. “Straggling?! I'm coming!!” With that said, Kira slid down the banisters of the stairs before jumping, landing nimbly on his feet. Just like his stormy arrival, Kira disappeared just as quickly.

Shin followed their sensei diligently to the back room where he had first asked for lessons and was prompted handed a bokken to practice with. As soon as the wooden sword was in his hand, sensei was called away by loud and obnoxious knocking at the front door. Sensei swiftly departed and then returned once more seemingly deep in thought. He ushered them out as he would be gone for some time, leaving them instructions to practice with the swords on their own time. Taking head to these instructions, Shin swiftly departed right after their sensei, his steps taking him back towards the Training Field.

Because of the events of the previous night Sensei got home late and the moment he hit the bed he succumbed to sleep. It was a good thing that he didn't have morning classes the next day.

The next morning, his eyes opened and he rubbed them blearily, before grabbing an alarm clock (because he had multiple ones... for some ridiculous reason...) and glancing at the time. 9am. Wow... he had overslept. Suddenly alert, Sensei got ready for the day, deciding to use the hour-odd break until it was time for his lesson to get something productive done. Strapping his sword on his back, he headed off to the library to check out a good book. The next few lessons would involve a lot of him watching his students perform so why not do something that would help him at that time?

The sunlight streamed through the unshuttered blinds and attacked Andou's eyes mercilessly as he blearily opened them. This resulted in an immediate shutting of the eyes again and he furrowed his brows in irritation, bringing an arm up to shield the sun. He threw the covers to a side as he stepped out of the futon, and stretched his entire body to get his blood flowing quicker. Grumbling in his mind incessantly, Andou made his way to the window and snapped the damn blinds shut. The sun was way too cheerful for his tastes. Where had it come from anyway?! Kirigakure had never been this bright even at high noon for as far as he could remember.

After freshening himself up in the bathroom and rolling up his futon neatly and dumping it in a corner, he moved on to the kitchen. Yesterday had been a tiring day and today promised to be the same. Therefore, Andou would need sustenance. Looking in the fridge, he got out two eggs and a pork chop. Let it be said that Andou did not cook traditional-style meals for himself, mostly because he'd never bothered to learn how. However, what he did know he was pretty good at, if he could say so himself. With the regularity of fried breakfasts it was a wonder that Andou was so healthy at all.

Thinking about various things he would do throughout the day, Andou idly opened an overhead cupboard with one hand and retrieved a pan, switching on the flame with the other hand. Once the pan was safely on the stove, he grabbed the bottle of olive oil as well as a few condiments.

Because he had prepared this breakfast so many times before, Andou had no problems gauging when the pan was at the right temperature. That was when he quickly poured just a smattering of oil in it and listened to it sizzle, even as he expertly twirled the pan to ensure that the oil left an even coating. His perpetual frown was already firmly in place as he reached for a bowl and spatula. The former to store cracked eggs and well, the latter's purpose was obvious.

The apartment was quiet as he prepared his meal save for the sizzle of the pan, and that was comforting, in a way. Andou didn't like too much noise. It was why he'd never done so well in crowd situations (well, his shitty social skills notwithstanding). Too much noise meant that he wouldn't be able to discern and separate the subtle strands coming from each person or object, and thus not keep on top of everything. Perhaps the fact that Andou was so vigilant early in the morning whilst frying eggs spoke much about how well-trained he was as a ninja. At any rate, Andou rapped the egg smartly against the side of the bowl and brought his thumbs in around it, getting ready to split it.

It was not one of Andou's better cracks. Yes, he kept record. A bit of egg juice dribbled out of the egg and onto the counter which displeased Andou just slightly, but he quickly got over it and emptied the egg into the bowl with a flourish. Satisfied that it wasn't remotely polluted in any way, he poured it into the pan. Again he swirled the pan round and round to ensure that the egg was spread well across it. This made for a very thin egg which would burn quickly, actually. Andou realised his folly too late but was too proud to slap himself int he forehead. Nevertheless he tried to remedy his mistake by quickly cracking the other egg, practically flinging its contents into the pan, and quickly grabbing a metal chopstick, he stabbed at the yolk to release the viscous liquid inside, spreading it over the pan. After that was done, he grabbed the spatula and flipped the egg.

It took Andou a couple of tries to get the fried egg of such epic proportions balanced, albeit precariously, on his spatula. The egg piece was so floppy as Andou valiantly tried to turn it that it reminded him alternatively of wobbly jelly and majestic birds' wings. The first time he tried to flip it, it slid off the spatula and landed on the sizzling pan in a lovely collapsed heap. The second time he tried, after another epic struggle to get it on the spatula, it almost fell on the floor and it was only through his extremely fast and fine-tuned reflexes that he managed to save it. Eventually, Andou gave up and turned to an (easier) alternative: using chopsticks to help him. Really, he should have thought of that much sooner.

Andou soon got the egg neatly laid out on the pan, other side being cooked this time. Good lord. It was probably good that he got all the failure and clumsiness out of his system early in the day and not later, especially in front of his students. He was supposed to be setting a good example!! The sizzling sound soothed his brain and the time he needed to wait for the egg to cook gave him some time to muse.

Yesterday had been a horrible day. He'd found someone who he had confirmed was the former Kage of Konoha, except that he couldn't go back to confront her about it because she had escaped. He supposed that somehow, some intel had got to her about his discovery. Either that or the hospital food just wasn't too good. After that, he'd returned to the shoreline to find his students exhausted after completing the task he'd set them. Shoddily, too. Andou had been too frustrated by the loss of his foreign guest to keep in temper in rein, and he'd showed Shin and Kiketsu a side of him that he'd probably never shown before. He had testily pointed out their mistakes and berated them venomously, not in his signature sardonic way but in a more honest way that had probably struck a few nerves. Andou didn't suppose that he would see those two for a while.

In the middle of all this reflection, Andou came to realise that he was still cooking. His eggs should be done about now, and indeed, Andou confirmed with a glance that they were. He scooped them up with the spatula and set them aside.

Now it was time for the pork chop. Although normal civilian residents of Kirigakure would never dream of starting the day with such a heavy, rich meal, Andou was a ninja. A taijutsu specialist to boot. He did lots of physical training that would probably burn off the energy provided by all the meat rapidly. Unceremoniously, Andou dumped the pork chop onto the pan, but not before adding more oil to grease the pan even more. He let the chop cook there for a moment as he opened another cupboard, looking for seasoning. Andou only ever used one type of seasoning, teriyaki sauce, and stockpiled like a madman. Therefore, it was pretty easy for him to find one opened bottle of it, and he set it down on the counter.

The heat was unlocking many of the tantalising smells hidden within the pork chop, and Andou's stomach grumbled in anticipation despite all his self-control. Andou had always treated food very practically as just a way to survive, but that didn't stop him from liking it, dammit! It was a good thing that he was so damn rich, because even though he knew nothing about it, during the off chances that he wanted to try something great, he had enough money to treat someone else who knew their stuff to a gourmet dinner. Shinobi training had probably paid off in that respect because Andou could tell when unscrupulous restaurant owners were trying to cheat him by overpricing.

But Andou hadn't been in any such places in ages. Well, not many of those places existed anymore. They had either been destroyed in the invasion or bankrupted by the subsequent ruination of Kirigakure, and it was a shame, really, because Andou's wallet was loose and he was itching to try something. Oh, well. The rich would come trickling back once he got the village economy up, and to do that he would need skilled shinobi. Oh, it always came back to that. Andou kept one glance on the sizzling meat to make sure it didn't burn.

Well, this pork chop was certainly turning out better than his eggs were. Scooping up the pork chop with the spatula, Andou flipped it over to see if the bottom was cooked. It was a lot easier too now that he'd had practice with the eggs, not to mention that fact that the pork chop was way smaller. Because the bottom looked fine, Andou left it there. Cooking pork chops was always a waiting game and lesser beings would have become impatient at the time it took. Whether Andou was also a lesser being was up for debate, but not something Andou himself thought about really. No one thought that way about themselves after all.

While waiting, Andou cast his mind forward to his planned events of the day. At least with the coral trimmed ships could come in. He had really overdone it with Shin and Kiketsu, but he was too proud to apologise. Although he didn't want to, Andou supposed that he would have to return to academy teaching. He'd received a request from the Fubuki to tutor yet another of their children. He had no idea where the princess and her guardian had run off to after he'd left their house, because he hadn't seen them anywhere in the village since. Maybe they were busy or something. He'd have to look into that.

At that moment, a worrying slightly charred smell wafted into Andou's nose. No way. It hadn't even been that long since he'd put the pork chop into the pan. Checking, Andou confirmed that the side being cooked currently was nowhere near done and wondered idly where that smell had come from. From a neighbour, maybe. What little of them he had left. Still, figuring that it was about time, he deftly plucked the teriyaki sauce bottle from the counter and flicked it open with his thumb. Then he poured the sauce in a zig-zag pattern on the pork chop that actually looked quite artistic. Of course, he would quickly ruin that by pressing down on the pork chop, causing the sizzle to become momentarily louder, before flipping the pork chop and moving it around the whole pan. This would ensure that the pork chop was evenly coated with teriyaki sauce. Andou then flipped it back over, because that side wasn't done it. He'd let it settle for a few more moments.

Feeling a little impatient now, Andou drummed his fingers unconsciously on the counter as he stared at the pork chop. It still looked a little pink, so he had to wait a little longer. A quick glance at the kitchen clock - white, of course - revealed that he really wasn't in any hurry, but still, Andou wanted to eat as quickly as possible. It wasn't just that he was starting to get a little hungry, and the delicious smells coming from the pork chop weren't helping. It was more that with each minute he spent here waiting for the chop to cook, he could be doing something else. He didn't want to eat the egg either to satiate his hunger because that wouldn't be the same. Andou looked back and lifted the chop with his spatula to check if it was done yet.
