Koi made a horrid first attempt on the jutsu and sighed "C'mon now..."he said to himself and slightly squatted down "Kawarmii no jutsu!"he yelled out as he laid down handseals.

Tao fell flat on his a**, panting for breath. However, he was loathe to admit that this might be harder than he initially thought. The whole "whatever it takes" explanation sounded so much better.

He relaxed once more, staring up at the sky.

Tao rolled over on his belly. He wasn't particularly uncomfortable on his back, but it seemed wrong to accumulate all that dust on only one side of his outfit today. If grease is to be applied, then it should be applied evenly.

Slowly, at least, his strength appeared to be returning.

He stretched, and scraped his fingers across the soil as he did so. Calling it soil might be a little generous... there wasn't much vegetation around here for the very fact that the nutrients of the ground had been burned away long ago by a combination of harsh summers and even harsher winters.

If not for the ingenuity of the ninja who lived here, the area may well be uninhabitable.

Hmm... pondered Tao. I wonder if all my resting musings will get that deep?

Tao tossed the rock up into the air, staring at it with the hatred of a villain that wiped out his entire clan. Or at least the ones he liked. Stupid rock.

"REPLACEMENT JUTSU!!!"

((CP = 1 at the end of this post))

"AGAIN!" he shouted as the last attempt proved unsuccessful. He had all the time in the world, or at least all the time until the homework assignment was due. And a written exam was utterly beneath him. It was the physical enhancement he needed.

"HAHAHA!" shouted Tao as he managed his second successful substitution. It had been even cleaner than the first time, the movement so fast it might as well have been instantaneous. So fast, he could clearly see his image where the rock should be, and was able to kick the dirt at himself... grinning as the form returned to the simple rock.

"ONE MORE TIME!" he roared, before taking a small rock in his hand, and kicking the larger one up into the air.

To any outside observer, Tao was standing in the center of the training grounds, looking quite clueless as he did so. And then the smaller rock was tossed from above, striking the figure in the head, which exploded into a cloud of smoke. When it cleared, the smaller rock appeared beside its larger, former Tao-imposter.

Tao landed a few feet away, triumphant. He'd managed to not simply switch places with the rock, but transfer his body up into the air with the momentum of his kick knocking the rock upwards mere moments ago. And he was so fast, he was able to strike himself, even if it was with a relatively harmless pebble.

"Replacement Jutsu... mastered," he said with a grin. "And just before my chakra was gone completely..."

((You know, I made that up as I went along, and if I had rolled an unsuccessful attempt I would have looked like a jackass. This just goes to show that a 30% chance, which is what we had here, sill almost never work in your favor. But as Pratchett tells us, a one-in-a-million chance is sure to happen every time you set it up smile In other words, go read Guards! Guards! immediately if your uneducated a** hasn't already.

And yeah... Replacement Jutsu mastered smile ))

Tao stretched, resting himself a bit. He then turned, and noticed that among his so-called classmates, there appeared to be a single success between all of them.

"I'm more than willing to offer my personal tutoring services, in case the rest of you aren't quite up to speed. Not that there was any question of you matching my PARTICULAR speed, but at least you could make yourselves fast enough not to hold me back!" he shouted to them.

And of course, one instructor or another would likely approach him to put him in his place, but this was to be expected. Academic karma required a bit of a subtle touch at tmes. The trick was to know what was going to happen before you did it. Still, the worst thing they could say was that he was an a*****e. He was still the first, after all, to master the jutsu, and that would be a victory no one could take away.

Tao returned to the classroom, and shuffled through his enormous backpack. A few dozen odd metal scraps and strangely humanoid-looking parts were moved to reveal a few books located near the bottom.

Tao was in the mood for light reading. "Elementary differential equations, 9th ed." would have to suffice, even if he had been forced to read it cover to cover at four.

Tao was returned his homework assignment via some rather slick transportation methods. He wasn't quite sure how, but one moment the desk was empty, and the second, a scroll appeared.

Madam Keiko (I'm afraid I find it apalling not to allow you at least some honoriffic, even if you gave us the leeway to address you by your first name), I hope that the enclosed assignment finds you well.

What are hand seals?

How many are there?

What are their names?

What are they named after?

In any case, no need to grade. By virtue of signing my name I'm rather assured an A, regardless of the subject matter. Do enjoy the read, in any case.

Sincerely Academic,
Tao

Tao~
Don't say it's appalling unless you can spell the word appalling.
I do agree that it's different then what you have learned and heard, but DEAL WITH IT!

I have advice for you...stop being so cocky and a little smart a**, it makes you look bad.

4/4=A

~Shimazu-Gogandantes, Keiko

He grinned as he read it. "How shameful, I had attempted to show nothing but respect and yet I managed to mispell a simple word as I did so."

So honoriffics enrage her as well, he thought. Honestly, how did someone become a powerful ninja if they allowed simple words to manipulate their emotions to such a degree?

Loki seemed to have taken an estream amount of time thinking about what had just happened... in fact she seemed so fixiated she had done absolutaly nothing between now and... Quite a bit age. She had started to form the hand signs, leting her body try to figure out this jutsu through tial and error, now she knew what didn't work. It was time to focus of something new. Of course all her new try did was hurt her brain and cause her to fumble failing with the jutsu once more, in fact all that had done was givin her a spliting headach.

Keiko pushed away from him and looked in his eye, she said nothing. She was a little upset, however deep down she understood. She took a minute to collect her thoughts and feelings, she gave a little sigh and looked away from him, "We'll talk at home, for the time being I understand."
