Question!!!! I'm finally getting the chance to learn how to play the Violin, but I won't be starting till next month(lessons), so I need to know is it easy or hard when you first start?,i'm still going to learn how to play either way but it would be nice to be prepared a little.

Heres a tip: It sounds absolutely terrible when you first start playing arco (using the bow). When you're just plucking, it sounds fine, but when you start playing for real, you'll have to put a lot of work into it. Oh, and you might get tired holding up the Violin for ages, but that's probably because you tense a lot when you first start. Overall, just relax, and work at it. 3nodding

I play a lovely factory made (but still beautiful-sounding) violin named Stephan. heart We used to have some issues about his gender (he used to be named Saraphina), but we have now resolved those problems. I have been playing Stephan for about a year now, but for about 4 and half years earlier, I played other violins. I also have a cheap electric named Lorelei. I am currently in a school orchestra, youth symphony, and alternative orchestra. I also take private lessons and have played in chamber groups, jazz band, and I have a permanent duet partner (usernameshateme). heart

I've been playing violin since the 4th grade and now i'm in 10th grade, but next year I'm thinking of switching to cello because I like the tone of it and there are always lots of violins, but never enough cello players, at least at the school orchestra's i've been in

I think it would be better for you to go to Viola since there's never enough Violists, and it's similar to a violin.
