Papatuan waved a hand as if to shoo away Aerion's concerns with which treasure in question that wanted to "share itself" as she had worded it. She shrugged a bit, bare, broad shoulders turning darkly burnished in the sunlight.
"I don't know what tales you people have around these sort of things, even less this particular one, but..." Here Papatuan paused and leaned forward a bit, but didn't look around as was usual when you were paranoid about not wanting people to hear you. Instead she looked calm and composed, as if what she had to say was something everyday, but important, and it couldn't be afforded to be misheard.
"But apparently there's been quite a buzz among the less than lawful sea riders around here about this particular treasure. Rumors abound. You might know them?" Papatuan smiled her question, before straightening and waving a hand again.
"Go have your discussion, then. I can wait."

Tamoir stepped back with Aerion, neither of them looking at Papatuan as they began their discussion, not wanting to give her anything to work with on her side of the deal. "The ship's ready to sail. We already have a job, one with a real end and a real paycheck," he began, continuing their coded conversation. She looks safe enough but I don't know what sort of game she's running here. "I suppose we could fit her in on our schedule, but you know we're in a rush on that shipment. It's already been delayed. Do you think we should we finish that first?" I don't know what crazy that lady's been taking, and who knows if we're not about to be lead on a wild goose chase or, worse yet, turned in to the authorities.

The taller man quirked a brow at Paptuan's statement, listening and taking it into account as well as what his partner said. "We could always say we ran into trouble along the way...any client who really wants our services would be willing to wait, don't you think?" Whatever she's been taking, I'm starting to think I want some. "After all, all our serious customers have been fairly easy to deal with."The Navy is corrupt...we can bribe them for our freedom...and she seems the type to be wary of the company.
Tamior's worries weren't unfounded...Some years back, they had made this same mistake and ended up spending a small stint in prison...However, as they were not official pirates, they were released...Even without so much as a brand...Of course, that was before they earned the reputation they had now.

"All right." Tamoir nodded, folding his darkly tattooed arms over his chest. "You'll have to inform them about this when they inquire as to why it took us so long." I think you're right but if you're not am I ever going to give you hell when it turns out badly for us.
"Ma'am," he stepped forward, easy smile still in place as he took Papatuan's gaze once more. "I believe my partner and I can fit you into our schedule. Shall we discuss the finer details of what you require on our ship?"

"Acceptable." Papatuan nodded and walked beside them up to the ship, then she turned her head and frowned out at the sea as they boarded.
"I can give you a small, guaranteed sum. The main part of the payment would be whatever you could load onto your ship for yourselves of the treasure." The tall woman said, swaying not exactly with the ship, but not far enough out of tune to roll over the slightly heaving deck. The top of her cheeks were already starting to look somewhat pale, despite the darkness of her skin, and the look she cast to the harbour, despite it being so close, was one of most agonized longing. She just wasn't made to travel over water.

Tamoir noticed and shot a brief bemused glance at Aerion as he passed by him to untie the ship, his back to Papatuan. If their passenger disliked ocean travel as much as it appeared, they might be able to wrest a little more gold out of her by offering to sell additional comforts or even brief stops in port.
The ship no longer secured to land, he pushed it gently off of the dock, taking control of the rudder as Aerion adjusted the sail for the soft wind they wanted to catch. The two of them maneuvered away from the other ships and prying ears working with a casual concentration; this task was one they were both capable of performing nearly in their sleep. Once they were alone in the harbor, sailing quickly and smoothly over the water out into the sea Tamoir settled back, one hand still guiding the rudder and waited for Aerion to begin the serious questioning of their client.

Aerion followed the other two onto the ship, honestly feeling much more at home now that he could sense the flow of the waves beneath the ship... He had never really been one to enjoy solid ground as much as the rocking of the waves on a hull...Strange as that may seem. Thus, he was always surprised when he found that they had taken a passenger less adept with travel across the glistening blue surface...And at least the customer seemed like she was somewhat reliable for payment.

Cael woke to the sharp pitching of the ship, the storm that had been looming on the horizon now well underway. He swallowed hard, fighting the sticky wave of nausea that was washing over him. The heavy rocking of the boat was not helping his hangover, which already seemed to be worse than normal.
Moaning slightly, he got out of the hammock, the room spinning hard and fast about him. Stumbling to the door, he made his way up the stairs, leaning heavily on the wall. His ears were ringing strangely; he would not be of any use on deck in his state; he needed to help, they were counting on him. Who was counting on him? On him...
Cael blinked hard, trying to press back the blurriness around the edges of his vision. Violet spots kept winking in and out of sight and he felt even more lightheaded than he already did when he looked at them. His scope of vision seemed to be narrowing as well, the out of focus edges growing larger even as he halted at the top of the stairs, fighting for breath.
He heard shouting and crashing waves, but it was all muffled, faint in the distance, and it took him a few moments to remember where he was and what he was doing there. Even when it came to him, it was slippery, like greased metal, and it kept falling from his mind. His thoughts themselves seemed to be falling, dropping almost as soon as they laboriously appeared. What was going on, again?
Movement. The movement caused his stomach to churn again, but it also reminded him of a purpose. He could no longer recollect if it was his purpose, but any reason at all that he could grasp onto was helpful and he staggered towards the hurrying figures, tripping and stumbling forward as another wave shook the ship, feeling the food and alcohol rise in his throat. Then without knowing how or what had happened or even how much time had elapsed, Cael was standing at the edge of the railing on the side of the ship, rain soaking him to the core--oh, the water felt so good, his skin was so hot and dry and his mouth felt cracked from the lack of it--and he felt his legs give out.
He was dimly aware of a long, spinning fall, and of the whiteness reaching up and engulfing him completely.

((Already, Kami? XD; )) If the wind and sea was tear that much on the Coup d'etat, the pirate crew should know how much worse it had been with the Luciana. The severity of the waves and harshness of the wind had lessened some now though, the storm was moving on. But it had not yet left.
Falk swore as he glared at the wooden walls around him. Why had he promised her this much? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Not only was it near impossible to do but if anyone found out... Well, his crew trusted him and he could easily give some sort of semi-lie or story and they wouldn't doubt him, they'd been with him too long for that. Besides, they knew that their captain was a) not someone you ******** with, and b) that he would make damn sure to save your a** if it came to that situation.
But in the meantime, Falk felt like he could swear away at Lance.
Damn it, Erica. You insidious, asinine, little girl! Why on earth do you demand such damn near impossible things!? he cursed in his mind. Why did he go to such lenghts to give her what she wanted? That was a better question but one he wasn't going to ponder now. This had better be worth it and nothing had better screw up on a whole. This was, after all, just the beginning of something much greater. Damn it all to the bottom of the sea...***** There, all done. Now it was just the finale of this part of the story, so to speak... Falk stopped, however, and stared down at one of the barrles he had been working with. He stood there for a longer moment, simply staring. He had promised her but... She undeerstod, he was sure, that he would have to come after them at a later point, eradicate every last one of them. He just couldn't have them still around. Not when they had known her and especially not since they had been her crew. It was... impossible.
Finally deciding what to do, he picked up the barrle and moved it before putting it down again. I'm sorry, Erica, he thought, using her given name to make it more personal, seeing as everyone else used her surname. But I cannot give you all. We air-manipulators are a dangerous bunch, he finished with a somewhat rueful twist of his mouth. It was regrettable but no one would know, not even the pirates in question, so no one would tell her. Just as well.
Having finished, Falk moved back to his starting point. It would be an exploding finale on par with the storm outside, he thought as he pushed himself out the hole on the rear of the Black Dove, a hole you usually saw the black mouth of the cannons coming out of. Letting a favorable wind catch him, one that he had felt while he was still on the enemy ship, he let it carry him back to the Luciana with some help of his own powers. Never seen on the way there, never seen while working and never seen on the way back. His many years of stealth training with his powers had often proved useful. True, the High Pirate Farh and the Baron of Dasure, Falk du Ruine, weren't known to be air-manipulators... but they had always been. In secret though.

The sudden, and grand, explosion ringing above the din of the storm must have been, to say the least, a great scare for everyone onboard the two ships of the Black Dove and the Luciana. Well, for all but one, for he knew about it and had set it off. Even if the weather was "wet", the ship wouldn't have managed to catch fire because most of it was blown to kingdom come, more or less. From the aft and the middle wood and splinters flew out over the raging sea that suddenly seemed angry for having been bested in ferocity. The remnants of the Dove's front was still shuddering but would soon begin to go down beneath the churning waves. What was left of the aft and middle, well... there wasn't much left but it would go down faster. The Luciana had, surprisingly, and it was very welcome for those onboard, survived without much, or almost any, scratches at all. Some pieces of wood had been thrown at it and made some marks, but that was all. However, the two guards that Falk had stationed in the bow of the Dove would have to be ushured back over to the Navy ship, and quickly, because the heavy ropes that held together the two boats, or one and a 1/3 boats as it was now, would really soon have to be cut, unless the Luciana wanted to fight going down under with what was left of the Dove too. ***** Falk had, earlier, told his crew to set the course for Darsun, it was the closest barony within Asura's borders, and to not bother him since he had official matter to take care of. The fact that they had taken care of a notorious pirate crew and ship, and especially that they had a high captain in their "cargo", had to be noted down, among other things. The, so called, "boring paper work" part that the rest of them were spared, though not their vice admiral.
True, that paper work did take some time, buthe had also taken some to rest and restore his energy for what was ahead; his promise to Lance. And now that the explosion had gone off, it was time to play his part.
Making sure that he was completely dry, Falk threw on his clothes in a hurried but orderly fashion, making it seem like he had just been woken up, or disturbed, in his resting, and headed for the cabin doors. It would look odd if he didn't appear on deck on "three red (seconds)" after such a noise, after all.((There. There's you uffing explosion. P: Happy now?))

((Yes. =DD))
"What was..." Stay was on her feet already, just like the rest of the men she shared the room with, although they had been up until a second ago sitting or reclining on their bunks after the battle.
"Sounded like an explosion." Gerald said, his voice taunt as the two of them reached the door. He pulled it open and hurried out into the hall and into the chaos there as men poured out of other rooms along it.
"Another attack?"
Stay glanced back at Page, his face worried under his neatly pulled back brown hair. "I doubt it. There weren't any other ships around and that pirate vessel's certainly not in any condition to launch another offensive. The storm must have set something off," she said reassuringly, holding the door for him to go through before dropping it for Axel to catch. "It doesn't look like it was on this ship, though."
"Too faint," he agreed, blue-green eyes hard nonetheless. "We'd all be deaf if it was on the Luciana. I hope it was on that pirate ship."
Race pushed past Stay and Axel in the crowd, rushing after the other two. "Get on deck. Then you can see what really happened instead of blocking the halls speculating about it."

Upon deck there was already a lot of commotion and their captain had, also, gotten out there. The rain was still pouring down, not as fiercly as before though since they were moving out of the storm but not free of it yet.
"Water, secure the ship! Air and earth, see to that those guards get back onboard right now!" Falk was moving from his cabin and up onto the upper deck that was above his quarters where the steering wheel wasm, all the while shouting his orders. "As for the rest of you, as soon as the men are back onboard, cut loose the Dove! We cannot risk her dragging us down too. Get any relevant manipulators up on deck. And hurry!"
It better be worth all this s**t, Erica, he thought grimly, because one wrong step and I might lose some of my crew OR the whole crew AND the ship... and perhaps myself and you too. Stupid little girl. Of course, the woman in question wasn't that much younger than him but... that was of little matter at the moment.

"s**t! Fin, get that!"shouted Li, as a rope came loose behind her as she stood at the helm near her first mate. This storm wasn't just bad, it was a downright pain in the a**. She didn't have time to stop and check to see if the ships' father figure had gotten it tied off or not, before having her attention called away again.
Both sides of the ship were occupied by water manipulators doing their damnedest to just keep the Coup afloat; she spotted Allen's near-white head of hair bobbing up and down in the darkness as he darted back and forth like a madman trying to keep exhaustion at bay for everyone working their hardest, and tending to any injuries incurred; Marco was busy keeping the water off the deck as nearby Terran took the earth they kept on the ship and wrapped it around the mast like a brace in an effort to keep it from cracking; Alyx and the other air manipulators were struggling to cut a path through the brutal wind for the ship to take...And what the hell?!
There was the ships severely hungover navigator, making his foolish way back up onto the deck. What was that idiot thinking?! With the ship bucking this much, sober people had trouble keeping a good footing! "Fin, I need you to take this,"Shouted the captain, knowing that he would have finished with the line by now. She waited only long enough for a strong hand to latch onto the wooden wheel before darting down the steps onto the deck...Idiot, idiot! What was he thinking?! If she had to tie him down to get him to stay below de...
That thought stopped half way processed in her mind, as she watched him suddenly tip over the edge into the water. As his mop of dark brown hair disappeared into the waves and a sense of dread, much like finding a family member gravely ill, griped her, Lina heard her own voice yelling "Man overboard!" The captain's feet rushed her forward, and her hands found themselves tying a rope to the ship's rail, and then around her waist. In the next instant, she was swimming like the devil was at her heels to get to that little idiot.
~~~~~
Lance jumped. Of course, an explosion like that would make anyone jump, even a seasoned High Pirate...She pulled on her shackles slightly, hands quite numb by now from being held so tightly at the wrists. The now ex-captain stood, chains going taught as she looked out a porthole to see if she could glimpse the source of the noise.
Bits of wood floated in the waves even so she could see them by each flash of lightning in the distance...Her heart stopped just for a moment, as she slid back down to her sitting position. Falk wouldn't break his word...If he had, she would not rest until his entire ship was ablaze, even if she was on it. Of course, this could have been some step in one of his all-too-brilliant plans...Somehow, he always managed to do things that didn't quite make sense until the end, when all the pieces fell together...She only hoped those pieces formed the picture he had promised.
Cael woke up for a painful moment when he hit the water, the shock crashing through his body at the same time the sweet burst of relief did: he was so thirsty, the water seemed to be absorbed by his burning skin...
Then it was darkness again, and perhaps he was unconscious, or maybe his eyes were just closed. All he knew was that he could no longer see the violent gray sky and waves. Maybe he was blind. Maybe he was dead.
Then there were hands on his body, at least they might have been hands, and he could breathe again, how long had it been since he had stopped?, and water was flooding from his mouth and nose even as more water pounded down upon him. There was wood beneath him and a hand, yes, it was definitely a hand, was pounding on his back while a roar not that unlike that of the sea rushed overhead. There were probably words in it, he noted dimly, and it was probably a voice, but for the time being it made no more sense than the tearing wind.
The captain swam against the current trying to force her back to the ship until the muscles in her arms and legs ached, and her lungs burned. She coughed a little after inhaling a mouthful of salty water, but that didn’t stop her. Li could see him, just ahead of her, just out of reach. She wasn’t going to let him die; he was the best navigator to set foot on the ship since it came to her, and he was a damn good friend at that…Both of which were reasons she was determined to keep her drowning shipmate from the locker.
He was only an arm’s reach away when a large wave swept her back. The captain righted herself after a moment, determinedly getting back to her task…Just as the waves washed over him and pulled him under. No, no, no! She dove under the dark salty water, inching forward until she finally managed to grab him by the back of his shirt. Lina pulled him toward her, wrapping an arm around his torso under his arms, and kicking for fresh air with all her might.
Finally, the pair broke the surface. Almost immediately, the captain managed to just barely over the wind and rain, from the seemingly very far away Coup, someone shouting “I se….!....She’s…..t him!...ull the…ack!” Regardless of the howling of the storm, she got the gist…If not from the muffled words, then more definitely from the sudden yanking on the rope around her waist, dragging them through the onslaught of the waves to the ship.
Within instants, the pair were on the deck. Frankly, the fact that she didn’t have to fight the waves anymore had thrown her a bit…One of the surrounding crewmen was smacking him on the back, trying to get him to breathe properly. Li put a stop to that at once, knowing it wasn’t really helping, and yelled for Allen. She could see the blond rush forward, and the crowd parting for him, as the healer knelt to try and help, the entire crew with captain included waiting anxiously…With a quick contraction of his lungs, he managed to get Cael to cough up the water he’d taken in…and then he was breathing again.
“Oh thank heaven…”said Li, letting out a relieved sigh. She leaned over, putting a hand on his shoulder, knowing the chartman probably couldn’t hear her, but she had to say it, “You little idiot…Next time you want to get wasted…Stay below until the hangover is done…” Then she looked up, “…someone get his a** back downstairs…”
