Malachi had returned from his time with his goddess in the fields. Checking his new shared chambers he smirked, there were signs of her, but she was not there. His tail twitched and his wings stretched as he headed straight for throne room, he felt her presence becoming stronger as he came closer, his mis-matched eyes glinting in the small shadows as she entered from their chamber, walking along the carpet to the dias, smirking at Vesira.

"Vesira." He nodded at her, a warm feeling sent a shiver down his spine as the memories of the meadow an hour before swam over him. He settled simply in the throne to Vesira's right, rolling his shoulders idly and adjusting the clothing that adorned his being. "I have the feeling that you are pleased with something.." His smirk grew, he was now about business, and he knew soon enough he would be as known at his goddess in the temple, he would have to gain all the information he could about each of the followers, he had already promoted one zamphire.

She turned her fierce eyes on her mate. She was languidly perched on her throne, her legs crossed seductively before her. She held a wine glass casually in one hand and she twisted her wrist, sloshing the liquid within the vessel. She considered the Angelique for a few moments, a wry grin upon her face. She touched the glass to her lips, savoring the red liquid. A strange and familiar scent lingered about the glass that was not wine, but something the goddess had added. Her eyes pierced her mate as she sipped, then lowered the glass and offered it to the male. Her grin did not diminish. She lowered her eyes, waiting for the Angelique to the Zamphirs to taste his first bit of blood.

((so not quoting that whole thing XD))

The bat that had stood watch over the zamphir flew with her noiselessly as she embarked on her journey. The bat would follow Shayna for her entire trip, leaving by night to report to the goddess of the zamphir's progress. It was a tireless creature, gifted by the goddess to need no sleep. Vesira wanted to know of the zamphir’s success- or failure- immediately.

It was a different bat that greeted Amethyst, the newest addition to the temple. This one was almost all black, save for the gray streak across its face. Its yellow eyes bored into the zamphir as it fluttered in and landed on the altar. It was a silent creature with an intense gaze reflective of the deity it served. It bowed its head slightly in greeting, but otherwise remained motionless upon the altar. It seemed to be waiting for Amethyst to do something. Was this a test?

Fatal Irony

Itara entered the temple wearily. She had traveled far to reach the temple, and her stomach was rumbling mightily. She followed the smell of food and was rewarded with a grand spread stretched across a long table. She slumped slightly, clutching her rumbling stomach. She reached for a roll and stuffed it into her mouth hungrily and swallowed. She grabbed a plate and stopped, looking for the first time at the other zamphir. She stared a moment, unsure of what to do. "Uh.. hi." She blinked a few times, the only other sound that of her starving tummy and the irritated squeaks of her bat companion.

Ebby watched as the hungry zamphir hurried in and stuff a roll into her mouth. She smiled warmly as the zamphir noticed her and said hi. "Hello! Please don't let me stop you from eating. Grab a plate and dig in. If you wish to talk we can after you've gotten some food in there." She smiled at the other zamphir again and continued to eat the food on her plate.

She stroked her bat's tummy and offered it a piece of meat, which it ate hungrily. Itara looked back to the other zamphir. "Been here long?" She scooted a chair over and plopped down, still eating ravenously. She inwardly scolded herself for starving so long. She often did this to herself, fasting for far too long. She stroked her bat again. "Ah.. my faithful Tam-Tam... you needn't starve like me!" She scolding the little bat softly, to which she only cooed and nuzzled her zamphir guardian.

Katjive
Sterling listened intently, hanging on her every word. Her words spoke pictures in his mind, her voice created the spooky image of the island in his imagination. He felt like he was there with her, exploring the forest and the tower. He knew by her dark tone, that the story would have a nasty turn of events in it, and he waited, apprehensive, awaiting the outcome of her tale.

"Strangely, no guards were found. Either this island was deserted, or these vampires were careless. In any case, I was not so foolish as to break in without gathering more information, so I resolved to return that night to see what activity might be found. I returned to the village that was to pay me and rested the remainder of the day." Vampirella took a breath, managing a smile to the male. The story was obviously hard to tell, but she felt it essential to the education of the baddie. "When I returned just after sunset, the activities were well underway. I have seen many things, but nothing compared to what I found. The glittering surface of every building was covered in freshly spilled blood. The scent was thick in the air and was maddening enough without the deafening screams that followed. They must have hoarded children from neighboring towns for months for this night to come. They held one aloft, slicing at its flesh and letting the blood dribble down the sides of the towers and halls." Vampirella was visibly shaking now. "There were so many children yet to be drained. I heard their horrified and painful cries from all over. The numbers of the vampires were staggering. There were more than I could handle on my own. To go in.... would have meant death." Tears streamed down her face at the revelation. "I abandoned them!" Her voice cracked as she sobbed.

Ebby couldn't help but enjoy the company of another Zamphir. "No not long, maybe a few weeks. How about you?" Ebby's plate was almost empty but she was reluctant to push it aside so she sat nibbling on it slowly. Watching the other interact with her little bat, Ebby started to wonder where Squeaker had flown off to, where ever he was she hoped he was having a nice time.

Itara tapped her chin thoughtfully a moment. She couldn't remember when she'd come here, nor could she remember where she might have been beforehand. "I have always been here." She nodded to herself, clearly used to a lack of memory. She remembered being injured long ago when she had first come to the temple and could only guess that Vesira had cared for her. Itara sometimes doubts that the goddess had that much kindness in her, considering she hardly paid the zamphir any attention and would not give her a proper room. Itara flushed angrily. She needed to prove herself to her goddess and she knew it. She was frustrated because she was afraid. She shook away the thoughts and stuffed another roll into her mouth. "What have you done for the goddess?" she asked curiously.

It took him only a few moments to watch his sip from her wineglass, then notice she was offering it to him. He raised a brow with a smirk, slipping the glass from her paw, twisting it in his own paw. Staring at it for a moment he smirked as it glowed, his smirk twisting further as he glanced at his mate, lifting the glass to her before taking a sip himself, he tasted that metallic hint that meant the blood he has already discovered. He knew he would have to at least get used to it, not that he found it disgusting at all.

His eyes raised to match Vesira's, they glinted playfully, before the tip of his tongue brushed over his own lips, offering the glass back to her as he nodded. "Better than I had hoped." His voice was simple, a statement, not of surprise, but of the obvious. Her had shifted to look forward again, smirking still, simply peeking at her out of the corner of his eye, oh how he loved her.

Vesira received the glass from him with a smirk and touched it back to her blood red lips. She lowered it and swirled the liquid in the glass once more, deep in thought. "Have you noticed the earrings on the altar," she asked casually, still staring into the red liquid. "They are quite something. I asked Miseria to bring me the fangs of a vampire, and deliver she did." She measured her words slowly, as though she were still mulling over what she said. Glancing up into Malachi's eyes she gave a brief smile. "That one pleases me. She sleeps now, but I would like you to spend some time with her. She will be able to teach you much about zamphirs. That is both your duty and hers. I wish her to educate you on the mortals you now govern." She stroked his paw as she spoke and finished with a kiss on the cheek, letting her lips linger for a few moments before drawing away. "Take minion with you, as a sign of my blessing." At the mention of his name the black bat fluttered down and landed upon the Angelique's shoulder, crooning softly.

Raelyn has arrived...

Raelyn woke up from a deep sleep just as the moon reached it's Zenith. She stretched out across the tree branch that she was sleeping on, and looked at her surroundings.

"Where am I again?"

She yawned sleepily, and watched lovingly at the swarm of bats overhead.

"Such lovely animals..."

Then she remembered where she was. She had stopped to rest while on her way to offer herself to Goddess Vesira. With no time to lose, she was on her way again, slinking from tree to tree, towards the Zamphir's obsidian temple.

A blue eyed bat broke from the swarm and glided down towards the meanki. It's gray wings caught the wind and it soared just above the female, seeming to guide it towards the temple. It watched her, making its assessments. This bat was, after all, Judgment. She chirped at the meanki, bidding her to make haste towards the waiting goddess. Through Judgment, Vesira has been notified of the approaching worshiper.

((see first page for more info on the bats and their significance.))

Raelyn has arrived...

Raelyn took notice of a bat which seemed to be chirping at her.

"Hello gorgeous."

The bat urged her through the forest, and as Raelyn followed, her heart began to race. Finally, I'm to meet my queen. She began to doubt herself and whether or not her presence would please the Goddess. Lost in her thoughts, she barely noticed when the temple stood before her and the bat perched on the roof, watching her. Suddenly nervous, she took out a broken mirror which she carried with her in a knapsack, and eagerly played with her hair, trying to look more presentable for Vesira. She found herself too nervous to go inside the temple.

The bat seemed pleased with the compliment and chirruped happily and swooped down in front of the meanki, then back towards the door of the temple and back to the meanki. The bat seemed to want the meanki inside to meet her mistress. Judgment finally flew ahead of her and disappeared into the temple.

Raelyn has arrived...

"Heh... Guess it's time."

The Meanki finally got the nerve to enter the temple, however gingerly. As she stepped inside, she looked around but could hardly see due to limited light . In the faint light of the torch to her right, she sould see a tall pillar with various offerings before it. Raelyn rustled through her bag and found the large ruby she had brought for the Goddess. The previous owner doesn't have much need for it anymore. She bowed as she placed her offering on the altar, and waited for some sign of acceptance.

((Sorry if my posts are a little... meager. I haven't RPed in a while, and I'm just getting into the hang of things again. ^__^; ))

There was no sign of the bat that had led her in and in the altar room it was unusually quiet, as though a magical silence permeated this room. Eyes watched the meanki from the gloom above her- four sets of eyes, each a different color. Still the silence remained.

Vesira sat upon her throne just beyond the Altar Room, watching the meanki through the eyes of her bats. She smiled wickedly as she waited a few moments more before making her appearance.

The darkness beyond the altar seemed to move of its own accord, shifting as if in the wake of a flickering flame, but no candle burned here. Vesira appeared behind the meanki, her face close to the female's shoulder. "What brings you to my temple, meanki?" Her voice was cold and unfeeling, but held no immediate threat. After all, what goddess did not enjoy more worshipers?

Raelyn has arrived...

Raelyn's heart jumped as she was startled by Vesira's presence, and she turned quickly to face her. She was blushing bright pink, since she has been frightened few times, and it was especially embarrassing to have been startled so in front of the goddess. She quickly regained her composure and cleared her throat, as her nervousness and fear seemed to melt away with Vesira right in front of her.

"I am here for many reasons. First, I heard rumor of someone more beautiful than me, and I came to investigate. Might I humbly say, those rumors were more than right. Second, I am currently out of house and home, and I seek shelter. Thirdly, and most important, we have a common enemy, in that I despise those vile ticks who call themselves vampires. It would give me great honor to be a soldier of yours and aid in ridding the world of these insects."

Raelyn gave a deep bow, and looked into Vesira's eyes.

"I, Raelyn, am subject to your will."
