My part of an art trade with Lavi~ Cause my art is writing >:3

Driving: Joseph x Jenny

Joseph and Jenny were outmatched, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

“Pah…ha…ha… what is this thing?” Joe asked aloud, not really looking for an answer.

“It’s so strong.” Jenny said, her flute clutched tightly in her left hand, her right one having deep gouges in it from the…creature.

It was almost demonic in nature. Disgustingly over muscled, stretched out face with no nose-like feature, white eyes, black skin, claws that could easily rip into flesh…it was like a Neoshadow on steroids, minus the antennae. Which Jenny and Joseph both figured might have been the case, judging from how often Ajora experimented with his darkness.

“Back!” Joe cried, and they both leaped back and out of the range of the creature’s jump and slash attack.

“Ack!”

Joe turned, and immediately groaned. Fighting in the jungle was not an easy task. Want proof? Jenny was now tangled in a bunch of vines

The creature leaped again, and Joe was under it, staff horizontal and under it, deflecting the slash…or trying to. His legs were shaking, his arms heavy already without the added weight of the creature’s hands. But Jenny was important to him. One of his closest friends on this journey, in fact. And damn it all if he was going to let this stupid thing get her.

Of course, getting a foot to the face wasn’t helpful to the fighter’s stand, and he was swiftly knocked into the vines as well. The “Oomph” let out by both of them seemed to make the creature elated, it doing a small, hopping step like a dance.

“Damn…dammit! I can’t move. I’m…I’m sorry, Jen.”

Jenny swiftly knocked Joe in the head with her hand, her face all frowny. “Don’t talk like it’s over, platypus brain! Giving up will mean we lost, but we haven’t lost yet…that sounded so corny…”

“You’re right, though…except I still can’t move.”

Jenny wriggled a bit, and managed to grab a hold of Joe’s hand with her damaged one. “We’ll be okay. We’re together, after all.”

Joe nodded, smiling. “O’course. I won’t lose any more friends.”

“And neither will I.”

And with a soft, warm light that suddenly flashed, the two seemed to fade into the light they emanated, before a different person emerged from the now destroyed vines.

It looked like Jenny, except the hair was lighter, streaked with blonde. Her features seemed to roughen a bit. Her eyes having become slightly wider and colder looking than her usual bright, smiling eyes. They seemed lighter, too. If one looked at her, they’d notice she somehow didn’t look as small as she used to, like she got slightly taller and broader. Her clothes also seemed to have gotten a makeover, their color scheme having shifted to look more like a clear sky during the daylight than the night sky filled with stars(Well, I figure cause of the whole wind aspect.)

“Wha…what’s going on?” Jenny asked, looking at herself, before looking around and not seeing Joe. “JOE?!”

I’m here…

“…Joe?” she asked. The voice sounded like it was inside her.

I think…we pulled off a drive.

“A drive…? AH!” Jenny dove out of the way as the creature slashed again, and she surprised herself as she was suddenly faster than she was before.

I think you picked up some of my speed. That would explain it.

“Okay, finishing my thoughts is…kinda weird.”

Sorry.

Jenny dived again, the creature having tried to body slam her.
Oh, this was not going well. But now…she felt rejuvenated, and stronger than before. So maybe she had a shot at this.
Summoning her flute, which had apparently grown some with the drive, she placed it to her lips and blew. With her added speed, her fingers seemed to fly across the keys, and soon the air was filled with comets that rained down death upon her foe.
Or, rather, would have, if it actually seemed like it had been damaged.

“Oh no…”

Jenny, I have an idea!

And almost at that exact moment, so did Jenny, like the idea had gotten downloaded to her brain upon Joe thinking it up.
The flute flew up into the air, wind blowing around and through it as it played by itself, as she danced around the jungle ‘arena’ to the melody that seemed to grow louder and louder.

Nature can make beautiful music…

As she danced by a hollowed out log, she touched it, and wind blew through it, creating another melody to sync up with the flute. Hard nuts bounced repeatedly on a rock. Leaves swayed and brushed each other. Branches snapped occasionally. Pebbles beat against a tree.

Now, let’s create some noise pollution.

The music started to get louder, the sounds increasing in volume as more and more ‘instruments’ joined in the cacophony. Soon, it seemed like the entire jungle was alive with the sound of music(sorry, couldn’t help myself XP ). Animals even seemed to join in, calling out in tune with the noise.

Quiet…. That’s what it was when it all stopped. It was deafening. But Jenny was smiling as she leaped up, riding the wind that was now at her command before she snapped her fingers.

“Sonic Blast!”
Sonic Blast!

The noise kicked up all at once, and the wind seemed to carry it all directly at the monster. The noise was almost a solid wall, it was so loud, and with a little bit of Jenny’s and Joseph’s magic thrown in, it became a weapon, bashing into the monster with such force and from so many angles that a barely audible ‘squish’ was heard as the creature was beaten, flattened, and compressed till nothing seemed to remain.

Jenny landed(quite gracefully, too) and caught her flute as it fell to her. Nothing remained of the creature. Nothing except the occasional gouge in the ground from its claws.

Guess that’s it?

“Looks like it…we should head back.”

She could almost feel the nod Joe made, and then blushed at what he said next.

You know…I’m still inside you.

The time mage, blushing so hard, could feel the ties that fused them loosen, and in another flash of that warm light, they were standing side by side, a blush still on Jenny’s face. “That…was…erm…awkward.”

Joe chuckled as he led the way back to the train and the others. Who were probably coming to check on them, what with the noise of that attack more than likely attracting them. “Would’ve been more awkward if you had been inside me, you know…OW!”

And that was the sound of Jenny’s flute making contact with Joe’s shoulder.

Joe bounced against the ground, energy spent, body bruised and broken.

"...No...won't let you..."

The weapon bashed into his back.

"Summon it, or I'll rip it from your very being."

Joseph spat, the spittle hitting the ground only a few inches from his face, but his point got across.

"Well...you were warned."

Joe tried. He tried so hard. He set up every wall his body, heart, mind, AND soul could muster. And they were all forcibly torn down, and his summon was ripped from him.

The fighter screamed...

Amariana smiled...

-----------
Ah, yes, you're probably confused. Getting thrown into the middle of the action would disorient anyone.
I guess I should start from the beginning. Best place to start for any story, I guess.

-----------

Prolouge: Introduction

Running...can't fight...running...panting...breathing...cracking of branches...

The girl ran through the night, her yoyo trailing behind her as she fled from dark creatures that destroyed her hometown. Her family, her friends, her people...all gone. Annihilated by those...things!

She wasn't strong enough to get them. Wasn't strong enough to pay them back. Wasn't strong enough to save and protect her village.

But she'd find a way...

"Why are we going this way, again?"

She stopped running, the voice in the air stopping her sprint. A girl...what was she doing?

There was an irritated sigh. "Someone is in this direction. From what I can tell, they're troubled, scared...running from something, perhaps."

Oh no, they could sense her?!

"Found someone!" The voice came with a bright light that blinded her, and she was suddenly surrounded. Large birds with people on them...

"Hey, it's okay, little one. We'll help you." Male, reassuring, parental-sounding. She ran to him. Clutching to him. No tears, no crying. There was no time for that. But she could feel it, feel the power that resonanted from most of them with her own power.

This power...They...I...

She was picked up and held, and rode with someone atop one of the birds, but that didn't matter. She was too busy calculating her next step. She was going to get her village back.

--------------

Possible start for a new story? I don't know...but hey, random idea to go off of. We'll see how far it goes, if anywhere.

Chapter 1: The Will to Fight

"...My name is Amariana Theonora Amalkia. I am ten years old and from the village of-" The girl seemed to stop herself, before letting out a sad chuckle. "Doesn't matter, right? It's gone, afterall..."

Immediately, the girl made a grunt as she was smothered in a hug by the one that carried her to this 'train'. He seemed to be the second smallest male of the entire group, but everyone else seemed to almost 'rever' him, in a sense. Kind of like a child to a mother...except the mother being a male and the child being an adult...and...

Amariana decided to stop that train of thought. She didn't know where she was going with it, and didn't even know where it came from. At least she was clean after a bath, but her clothes stank. She really didn't want anyone touching her...

"Um...could you please not do that?"

The male, Joseph, coughed and stepped back, letting go with a blush of embarassment. Air seemed to dance around him, and he blushed harder with Amariana staring. That air...it stirred up her power.

Shaking her head, the girl pondered for a second if she should say anything else, ignoring all the stares she was getting.

"Where'd your yoyo go?" This from the tallest girl. Dawn, if Amariana was right. A girl who also haid air around her, it seemed.

"It seems to come and go whenever it pleases. Or at least whenever I need it. I recieved it after dreaming of a strange platform.... Stained glass, very colorful."

"She went to the Station of Awakening? But she's not..." Glasses said, even though Amariana knew his name was James.

Joseph shushed everyone when the girl looked ready to say something else.

"I want to fight with you."

Everyone seemed flabberghasted. Jaws dropped, gasps were made, and even an "Oh my" was heard.

Joseph and the 'leader', Kyle, looked at each other, Joe biting his bottom lip.

"We'll...talk about it. For now, you had a long night. I suggest taking a room and getting some sleep."

Amariana nodded, getting up from her seat and heading in the direction she knew held the bedrooms. Yes, sleep actually sounded quite nice.

------------------------------

Kyle's Room

"You already know what I think, Kyle."

Kyle sighed, rubbing his temples. "Yes, yes, but I need to hear it."

Joe sat on the bed, haunched over, elbows on his knees and hands clasped together. "The girl has no where else to go. The others that checked out her village found nothing left but a Heartless nest."

"We could just send her to Disney Castle."

Joe sighed, leaning back and flopping on the bed. "She'll not be happy with that. Amariana wants to fight. You saw that look she had. And we have Zeba already."

"Zeba's also fifteen, not ten."

"..."

"..."

"I'll take care of her."

Kyle sighed. "You can't take care of every 'stray' that comes by."

"..."

Kyle groaned. "Well...we'll call in everyone, get a vote on this. But your arguement needs to be sound to convince everyone. I, for one, don't like the idea of having a ten year old fighting with us."

The fighter turned his head and looked at Kyle, his eyes serious...and very stubborn looking. The battle mage inwardly groaned. Looks like 'Mom' was going to fight it to the end.

Great...

(Art trade for Enji_Chou...well, part. Gonna have to chapter it :3 Requirements: Merry Gentry universe, Joseph as main character and one of the sidhe)

Chapter 1

Kyla frowned as she worked on her latest commision. Something about it just wasn't coming out right for her. Well, there was that, plus the fact that she found out her art was being stolen by someone.

Now, that'd piss off any artist. But for Kyla, it pissed her off even more. She had a talent with art. It came alive.

Literally.

Kyla was a quarter Seelie Sidhe, and three quarters human. She looked human, but gained a touch of magic from her bloodline. Anything she drew, upon completion, came alive on the medium she was drawing. Dancers danced, villages bustled, and animals ran free. Every piece of art was beautiful. Which is also how Kyla made her living was was living quite nicely in a two bedroom, two bathroom house on her own plot of land with the mortgage paid off.

*snap*

"Crap...."

The artist had snapped the brush she was using to paint some color into her work. Setting the painting and then broken brush down, the girl leaned back in her chair on her front porch.

It's so...infuriating. I need to calm down or I'll never get work done.

It was warm out, and the ice in her tea clicked as it shifted. With a deep, calming breath, Kyla closed her eyes and let herself relax into the breeze that suddenly came...and didn't go away.

Huh?

Peeking one eye open, she noticed someone standing over her.

Who's...!

With a loud "Eeep!" the girl grabbed a fountain pen from her art supplies and stabbed at the man, who grabbed her arm with ease.

"Please don't do that."

"Wh-who are you?"

The man-no, sidhe-let go of her arm and bowed, his long blonde hair billowing around in the wind that seemed to eminate from him. "I am Josefinos." He looked up, smiling slightly, and Kyla saw his eyes. Definitely sidhe eyes, the tri colors of a storm grey, sky blue, and a third color that seemed to mix the two all circling his eyes. "I am of the Unseelie Court, and have come to aid you."

Kyla had taken a few steps back, jaw dropped. What in the world was going on here? Help? A sidhe? What what what?!

"I...ah...well...anou...you..."

Josefinos frowned, before letting out a chuckle. "Ah. Sorry. Just came from the Seelie Court, formality got kinda stuck. I was...well, hired. By your grandmother. To help with your art thief problem."

Kyla stood there. Even with Josefinos waving his hand in front of her face.

Oh my god, grandma?! Jeez! And he's hot! And he's here to help! It's a blessing! Thanks grandma!

Blinking out of her thoughts, Kyla took another step back as her sidhe visitor was right in her face. "Gah! Sorry! I, uh...didn't expect help."

Josefinos blinked, then smiled, and Kyla realized that for a sidhe, he seemed very human. "What are you?" she asked.

The sidhe smiled. "I can't remember the old name. I'm not that old and history wasn't my strong suit. But I guess you'd call me a wind fae, a sylph."

Kyla frowned. "They why do you act so...non-sidhe."

"Ah, that'd be because I pretty much live in this world, not in one of the Unseelie Mounds. One tends to pick up habits, and all that."

"Ah, that's...um...nice. Erm...what's your name again?"

"Josefinos."

"Josef...erm...can I just call you Josef?"

The sidhe shrugged. "Most people where I live do, go ahead."

Kyla gave him a once over. Blue jeans and a leather vest. That was all he wore. Definitely not what she was used to seeing sidhe wear when she visited her grandmother in the Seelie Courts. She also didn't expect to see the chest hair, but she could see lean muscle under it. Bare feet had toes wiggling as she stared at them, and when she looked up, Josef waved and said "Hi."

The artist blushed and set the pen she had in her hand back with her supplies, before crossing her arms and looking at him with a small frown. "Okay, so what do you mean by help?" Yes, get to the point to cover up your embarassment.

"You know, it's a complement to stare."

"I know, but that's beside the point."

The smile faded from Josef's face, and he gave her a once over himself. Of course, it was like a drill sergeant giving a soldier the once over, and it gave Kyla a small shiver up her spine.

"Simple. I'm here to help find who's been stealing your work, and...well, the rest was a bit vague on your grandmother's part."

Kyla's eyes narrowed. "What did she say?"

"Doesn't really matter, does it?"

"Don't dance around the question, buddy."

With a sigh, the sylph stared at her, eyes slightly cold. "'Bring that person to justice for my granddaughter' is what she said."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

Josef's head tilted to one side, like he heard something, then he frowned. "But Lady Andais'..."

He winced slightly, then looked to the girl. "I'm supposed to ask, when this is over, for you to paint a portrait for the former queen."

Kyla's eyes widened. She knew that the Unseelie Court had changed queens, but to have a commission from the former queen?

"You will be paid handsomely, I'm supposed to add."

"How...how is she..."

"She's the Lady of Air and Darkness. I'm a creature of air."

"Ah. So...sure?"

Josef smiled. "Awesome." With a small hop, he crouched on the banister of her porch, balls of his feet balancing perfectly. "So, know where to start?"

When Kyla shook her head, the male started balancing on the beam, standing up and walking up and down it, arms crossed over his chest as he paced.

"Let's see...we should figure out where things were stolen from, and then where it's going. Things like your paintings are hard to come by, after all.... I'll have to ask that person for help...damn I really don't want to, though."

Kyla was watching him think aloud, and blurted out "Who?"

"My ex. My ex it technically a bounty hunter, but mostly does the paperwork and such."

"...Okay, where is your ex?"

Josef looked up, then pointed South. "In the city, actually. Has an office."

Kyla looked where his finger pointed. The city was about twenty minutes by car. Not that far, really.

"Um...okay, let's grab my keys, hop in the car, and go."

"Erm..."

Kyla looked at Josef, who stopped pacing and had a sick look on his face. "What?"

"You drive. I'll not get in the car. How's that?"

"Ah, right, cold iron."

"Well, that, and I don't like being confined."

Kyla just nodded. Some fae were like that. She couldn't blame a wind fae for not liking a car. And she had an old Ford Mustang that wasn't a convertable. It was small and stuffy, sometimes even to her when she was normally used to it.

"Alright, how're you going to get there?"

"Oh, I'll just fly, ride the wind and whatnot. But you'll need the address. Got a pen I can use?"

Kyla tore off a scrap of paper and grabbed a pen and handed them to him, and after he quickly scribbled out the address, he was off the banister and into the air. "Meet you there, Kyla."

She watched him fly off, slightly amazed, before seeing nothing at all. She assumed he was using a glamour so people wouldn't suddenly see a man flying through the sky.

Well, if anything, this'll be interesting...and I don't think I'd stand him in a car. He fidgets too much.

Laughter

It's right before the final battle, and I find myself smiling. It's almost over, home is just around the corner.

I laugh.

Everyone seems worried. Worried the final battle won't just be the last battle, but the last. Death in this world is as real as any, and everyone voices their concerns and says their final pieces in case something happens. They come to me, saying how thankful they were to know me.

I laugh.

I tell them to not worry. That everything will be fine. We're strong enough and will easily save everyone. Even when they look at me with concern and worry, I smile at them like have a secret. And I do.

I laugh.

They walk away, but I can feel them watch me, wondering why I am laughing. Only when alone, in the shower, will I ever admit my secret aloud. Only when I'm alone, will I even admit it quietly.

I laugh...because I'm terrified.

I laugh...because I fear what may happen to me or the others.

I laugh...because otherwise I'll cry.

I laugh...because I'm weak.

But that's not only why I laugh.

I laugh...so the others will have some reassurance.

I laugh...to give myself strength.

And when it's all over, I will cry...because I'll be laughing so hard that it'll be over. And it will be worth it.

So I save my tears, and laugh when I want to cry. To seem strong to others, and to seem strong to myself. I may be weak, and people might know that, but I won't show it. I will stand up to my destiny, no matter how scared it makes me.

And I will laugh.

HOLY CRAP DRAWINGS FROM JOE. Well, clothes. Kyla drew the body outlines cause I can't draw anatomy to save my life XD.

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m89/ByneNo1/DriveCostumes12.png

Left is Joe x Jenny drive. He essentially becomes a taiko drummer, only with Jenny's color scheme instead of his own. Dark purple for the sleeve edges and edges of the happi coat's opening, as well as the interior like the outside of her dress, and the rest the light purple of the interior of Jenny's dress. The anklets are supposed to be made of pure amethyst(the gem Jenny and Joe's drives together get), and the two taiko drum sticks are essentially a pair of Joe's bo, except shortened and purple. And yes, it's a fundoshi and twist headband. And the symbol in the top left is what is on the fundoshi and the back of the happi.

Right is Kyla x Noelle. Color scheme I'm not sure off, though the boots and jacket would be along Noelle's colors, and the dress would be Kyla's colors. The butterfly...well, I'm not sure the color of the wings, but the bike shorts under the dress are black. Oh, and a butterfly hair clip, too.
