Abel pressed the button to go to the Tao complex and leaned against the wall. The ride didn't take long but the elevator music was annoying. After a bit he reached the bottom and stepped out. He saw the train system and got on to the one that went to the Beta complex.

"Change of plans Otis send me to the Beta complex and keep me from getting my a** turned into swiss cheese."

With that Abel sat down and lied down on the chair hoping for a relaxing ride into the bowels of hell.

((Matt, Summoner, Winter you might as well have Erica bail out altogether.))

The journey was slow on the tram. but it was steady, carrying Abel deeper and deeper into the bowels of the Nexus Center. Suddenly it stopped, and the doors opened. Things were quiet... deathly quiet... there were no employees milling about, the guards were dead... there was nothing. The tram announced, in its digitized female voice.

"Beta Complex, Accounting, Second Stage Weapons Testing, Bio-Dome"

---

Khane watched Risa leave in a tiff... then remembered. He had left Nny in a logic cube outside his room... s**t. He grabbed his stuff and re-suited, having dropped most of it in the fight. His pistols were repaired, his sword shiny and new, and his sniper re-calibrated. He turned to face Rikka.

"Alright Rikka, so far so good. Here's my suggestion. Take yourself and go to the Alpha Complex... i cleared out the guards myself ahead of time. There shouldn't be much there, and what there is wont be anything compared to Me or my siblings, they're all in other complexes. Don't worry about Cthuhlu, he'll get out on his own, and then scamper off to the hospital attached to this building to eat some doctor brains. It's his thing. Nuke the hell out of the alpha complex, and blow up the tram after you've used to to get back. I have to go deal with some things. I left a hot plate on in my dorm room."

With that, Khane turned and entered the elevator back to the surface, and ran as fast as he could back to Koi... ******** hotplate...

Rikka did not expect Khane to be serious about the hotplate, but she shurgged. Of course, before Khane ran off she had forgotten to ask him what way the Alpha complex was in. "I have to, blow something up?" she wondered, quickly slinging Risa's bow on her back. She had to get out of this place as quickly as she could, and Cthulu still scared her; however she doubted that his magical binding would break easily. "The hard part will be finding the Alpha center, I guess."

She took one last look at Khane's brother, "Stay out of trouble . . ." she whispered. Then she turned and ran back down the hall, the way she and her sister had come. She reached the main floor again, reaching the elevator from before. Then she skidded to a halt, "Main floor, there must be a map somewhere!" she exclaimed, and went looking for one in the foyer.

"Map . . . map . . ." she muttered, searching through a pile of pamphlets left lying around, mostly just junk. She guessed that she would have to go off in an almost random direction and go from there. "Khane said something about a tram, I guess I'll have to find that first." Then she ran off, looking for anything slightly tram related.

Abel stepped out of the tram, there was definately something wrong with this picture. Even if he was designated as a friendly he has expected some human resistance. The fact that the place was barren really put him off. The only advantage was that he was free to go into the weapons room. He was standing in front of the door to the weapon testing room, still facing no resistance. He then heard a beep and saw the door opening.

"Good job Otis, you actually got the door to open, now lets see what I can find in this playroom."

Abel stepped inside and looked around. What he saw made him almost cry with happiness, he had found the mother load of weapons. Anti Matter Rifle, Zero-Point Manipulation gun, Thumper Mine, BSU, BFG, and something labled the Painter. It was all there and now it was going to be his.

((Matt, Summoner(slight nudge in the right direction) ))

The weapons sat there, but everything was oddly sterile for the beata complex. No burn marks on the walls, no carbon scoring on the walls, and no blast marks anywhere... It was quiet, so very quiet. Even the Bio-Dome was completely empty.

---

In the Goldwind department there was no tram, but there were numerous ones in the Tau complex, hidden deep below the main offices. Rikka eventually found her way to the one that lead off to the Alpha Complex, because it was labeled 'ALPHA COMPLEX TRAM' in big red lettering. Next to the tram entrance were two completely destroyed Gun Drones, flanking the doors to the open Tram.

((Yay Nudging!))

Rikka looked at the two drones, glad that someone or something had destroyed them. She was glad she had found her way to it somehow, but she was still nervous. "Alright, so I have to take this tram to the Alpha complex and find the weapons Khane was talking about. I just have to destroy them from there and then take this back. It doesn't sound that hard, does it?"

Rikka rode the tram to the Alpha Complex, and jumped off when it came to a halt. She then looked down the winding corridors, and put her hand on the tram. "God, please guide me back to this place," and when she pulled her hand away, a single white print remained, glowing slightly. "If I follow this feeling back, I should be alright." She said. She then adjusted the bow on her back, and headed off deeper into the Alpha Complex.

Rikka sighed, she was so alone in this place. In fact, she had never really been alone for so long before. She shook her head, "You'll be find Rikka!" she said aloud, her voice bouncing off the walls. "You may be thinking of something going wrong, but you're alright!"

Abel was on high alert as he approached the weapons, this was definitely too easy. No guards, no droids, not even a sound coming from the Bio-Done. It was as if the place had been sterilized or something. Calmly picking up a few guns like the Anti Matter Rifle, the Zero Point Manipulation gun, a few thumper mines, the BSU, and the BFG which he strapped to his back. Abel was about to leave when he looked back and decided to take one last item.

"Eh What the hell might as well that that Painter thing too, I have always wanted a laser pointer."

As Abel was making his way back to the tram in order to get the hell out of there his bio-sign detector went of on max alert. His internal computer was warning him of a bio-hazard in the vicinity, and it was moving. The problem was that it was too fast to track. Abel was now in panic mode, his sensor level was off the chart and he was hearing some clicking sounds. There was something near by, and what ever it was it definitely knew he was there.

"Otis! You have 5 seconds to tell me what the hell is on me sensors, What were the technicians down here working on? What do I hear!"

Abel took the BFG off his back and replaced it with the rifle so that he could fire the gun. He went into a defensive position and prepared himself for what he had just heard.

((Matt, Summoner))

The radio crackled, Otis was rambling but something was jamming the link, the word Carnophage, and the phrase Project Horsemen, managed to get though.

The clicking was getting louder, and then stopped. Dead silence. The Bio Hazard had dispersed, and was now down to a low level warning. As if there were a class full of kinds with a cold nearby.

---

The alpha complex main gate was wide open, the sign pointing into it read Alpha Complex, Primary weapons testing, Payroll, Darwin Room. The first few hallways of the Alpha Complex weren't too bad. But the deepe4r one went, the more and more one would find the occasional body stuck to the wall using another piece of the wall, or great deep gouges in the steel floors and ceilings. This was not the work of Khane, Khane's work was more delicate. There would be fewer gouging marks in the bodies, the cuts would be cleaner. Something was loose here.

Abel was still not convinced of his safety. The few words that he managed to get from Otis did not sound so good, Carnophage, and project horsemen, definately not something good. If he knew his Latin right then that word would translate to meat eating disease, not something he wanted to experience. He was going to take every precaution he could think of, starting with putting on an air filtration unit on himself. He had no open wounds so that was lucky, but he was sure that the bio-hazard warning would not stay low for long.

"Otis if you can hear me I would like an open comm to the rest of the building. I feel like I need to announce what is going on."

Abel had scanned his internal database and had come to the conclusion that there were 3 other creatures like the one that was stalking him. If Goldwind had achieved that he believed they had then the end of the world was closer than he imagined unless he managed to destroy at least one.

Something was loose in the Alpha complex, and now she wished she had not made her sister so angry. She took a deep breath, walking past one of the unfortunates shoved into the wall. She was more than a little disturbed, but she needed to finish what Khane sent her out to do. She needed to just get to the weapons testing room and do a little destroying. Then she could get out, not big deal.

Rikka took a deep breath again, stepping lightly over the gouge in the floor. This was definatly not a safe place, and her common senses were telling her to give up, to go back, and to find Rikka. She could not take that path, she could not just be the same old cowardly Rikka. This weapons would destroy lives, and if even one of those were saved she supposed that being scared out of her wits and in danger was worth it.

Rikka drew her bow, ready if whatever was coming came, and walked into the Primary Weapons testing of the Alpha complex. She only hoped whatever it was, wasn't worse that Cthulu.

((Summoner, Matt))

The door to the primary weapons testing facility was ripped off its hinges and thrown down the corridor. Great gouges were in it, and a pair of claw marks from where it was grabbed. The inside of the weapons testing facility was ripped to shreds... but that was normal. An assortment of weapons lie in shatterproof casings, each labeled, with a clipboard filled with statistics on it. Ripper Guns, Gauss Rifles, Light Mines, Garrot Wire Launchers... the list stretched on, each weapon more ghastly and more gruesome and lethal than the last.

---

The radio crackled out.... and then... silence. Radio contact was lost completely. The bio hazard warning slowly crept up... and then it was back to the way it was... directly behind Abel. Rust red saliva dripped down around him from the gaping maw of Carnophage. It clicked, saying hello to its newest meal before digging in.

((Lol, Null you look like a stripper))

Rikka gasped, seeing the door. Hopefully whatever had done that damage was gone by now; it probably was off destroying something else. . . hopefully. Rikka sighed, taking a last look at the door before she rubbed her hands together. "Alright," she sighed. "I just have to finish the job here, and then I can get out of this place."

Rikka pulled the bow off her back. If anything could shatter shatterproof cases, it was going to be a bow endowed with magical arrows filled with holy energy. If worst came to worst, well she supposed she had to figure out how to get into the cases and use one of those ol' light mines to blow the entire place up. Dangerous as that sounded, it actually sounded a little bit fun. Rikka had never done something so dastardly!

Abel just managed to dodge the jaws of the beast but not without having a part of his coat taken off. Turning around quickly he got his first sight of the beast.

"Damn your one ugly son of a b***h you know that?"

Abel was just stalling for time until he could determine a weakness on this thing, shooting at an unknown creature that was definately a hunter would just be a bad idea. His internal scanners were reading out various information to him, nothing of any use, the information was just getting worse and worse. From everything he had just gathered it was obvious that this beast had no real weakness.

"Aw s**t, what did I do to deserve this...oh right the evil deeds"

With that Abel shot off the BFG towards the creature and then began to book it towards the tram.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 17, 2008 4:27 pm

((Matt, Summoner))

The Carnophage dispersed, many of it's cells forming a cloud around Abel, though that made contact would land and begin consuming him from the outside, those he inhaled would nest and consume him from the inside, and the others would know exactly where to find him, by following their brothers. All the while replicating, speeding up the consumption process. Carnophage had adapted to things trying to attack and run, and knew in it's hive mind exactly how to deal with runners.

---

Thump, Thump, Thump

Something stomped around through the halls outside. As Rikka scanned the room she would see a massive cell like structure. Metal and Shatterproof Glass, shattered through one side. Something had burst out. The cell was labeled 'Project Horsemen: Corpus Morte'.

Thump, Thump, Thump

More stomping around. Scraping sounds, that of metal on metal. It was getting closer, sounding as if it was moving towards the door.

Thump, Thump, CRASH.

The thing burst through the wall, sending experimental weaponry, steel shards, and shatter proof glass(now shattered) in every direction, and roared. Standing at 15 feet tall and hunched, it's back was covered in a series of chitinous plating, like organic plate mail, further covered in spikes bearing the corpses of scientists and Adaptus Labyrinthus alike. Mammoth sized fists, with more spiked Chitinous plating on the backhand, dragging gouges through the ground.

Abel's bio sensors were going of the fritz he was in danger right now, the cells of the creature were making contact, and there was no way to fight it. He was right when he guessed the thing was a hunter but he could not have been more wrong when he shot it. His filtration mask was not helping him at all. The only things keeping him from getting killed at that moment were the nano-probes and the small amount of Khane's DNA that he had.

"Ah Feck...cough..cough... is this it...Goldwind you b*****d what have you created! Cough...must...keep fighting it."

The open skin on Abel was slowly being consumed and the intense pain was slowing him down. The only good thing he could say about the creature was that it was efficient.

"I can't let it end...cough cough...like this...There must be a way out of this...cough... I have dealt with worse things than this..."

At this point Abel was running out of options, he was in intense pain and the infection was spreading His internal systems were in bad shape but he was still managing to keep conscious. The problem was that he was about to pass out. He then decided to do something desperate, he took a thumper mine and placed it right on his chest. He began falling forward preparing to deal with what ever the mine would do, at the very least it would slow the creature down if not kill it.

"See you in hell mother ********>
