Nightingale smiled, a deep smile and said, "It is a pleasure Sir Kryss to have met you. I am called Nightingale." She bowed her head and did a curtsie. She stood up and said, "You must be a very powerful being to be able to own a city this big. You have my greatest respect." She then smiled at Kryss' companion. Very odd to be sitting on the floor, she thought.

Nightingale smiled at Zareb. "Hello. My name is Nightingale. It is a pleasure to meet you." and she does the curtsie once more at Zareb. "Would it be alright if you and Kryss could show me around the city? I'm afraid that if I would take one more step further I would be utterly lost." She looked at both Zareb and Kryss.

Jadelyn grinned and placed her hands on Kamiru's shoulders, rising up on the tips of her toes to press a kiss to his cheek. "Thank you. You....thank you." She grinned at him and then stepped quickly away from him, not wanting to make him uncomfortable.

She sighed as she glanced over at Karan, shaking her head slightly before muttering to herself. "He's not staying here...I refuse to deal with his mis-placed anger every day.

"Not exactly anywhere else he can go, though. And knowing my luck, he'll be following me around for eternity..." Kamiru sighed, staring out the window. "I just want to go home, grade papers, and get back to my average ordinary life. This is all so weird...tell you what, I'm going for a walk, I'll be back in a while, okay?" Kamiru opened the door, and walked outside. He knew it was risky, but he needed time to think.

"Wait! No..." She ran towards the door, leaning out and watching him walk away. She shook her head and frowned. "You'll get yourself killed."

Jadelyn stood in the doorway and chewed at her bottom lip, wondering whether or not she should follow after him or leave him to his privacy.

He did not correct Nightingale about his ownership of the city. He had kept the title he never mentioned mostly because the place was his home and partly because few other beings wanted to challenge him for it. Whether that was due to some code of honour that was not to be broken or whether it was simply because no one wanted to fight him.

He watched quietly rather than reply to the lady's request. The question had been direct towards Zareb, after all. He wondered just what the half-demon would say, considering he claimed to have very little knowledge of the city.

Kryss would not hesitate to help the girl find her way, but answering only those questions he had been asked was something he had been taught quite a long time ago and was now a habit he could not get rid of.

"Go after him already-!" Karan spat. Jadelyn spun around to see Karan directly behind her, holding her coat. He tossed it over her shoulder and walked out the door wrapping his beep blue scarf around him. Turning slightly he said "What are you waiting for...?"

Jadelyn frowned at Karan, opening her mouth to snap at him and then shutting it with a sigh. She shrugged into her trenchcoat, buckling the front of it as she ran down the sidewalk. "Right then...here's hoping he doesn't hate me for this." Her head was turning from side to side, looking for any sign of Kamiru.

Nightingale smiled at Kryss. "Is something the matter? You seem awfully quiet.." she said. "You know your city is really beautiful specially during the night. It amazes me still that you are able to run this city all by yourself." She continued to smile at Kryss hoping to start a conversation with him.

Kamiru walked down the street, not really paying attention to anything. "Well, what do I do from here...the only people here I know are a vampire and a ghost, and I've got a pendant that a demon wants to kill me to get to....what am I gonna do..." Kamiru found himself walking into the bar that he was in the first night. "How did I end up here...oh well, guess I'll just sit and have a drink."

Jadelyn runs down the street, moving a little faster than normal. She catches a glimpse of Kamiru entering the bar and sighs, uneasy in such a public place. With a frown, she straightens her shoulders and tries to appear intimidating, knowing that her natural vampiric abilities will draw people too her no matter how fierce she tries to look. Sighing, she walks into the bar and makes her way towards Kamiru.

"Please forgive my silence," he said, bowing his head briefly and looking up at her with a small smile. "It is a habit of mine."

He glanced up for a moment, looking at the city lights reflected in the heavens, wishing the stars were easier to see but still content with the pale darkness of the night sky.

"I do not run the entire city on my own," he said quietly, almost unwilling to admit the truth. "The city takes care of itself well enough without much air from me. I just make sure it continues to thrive as I have always known it to do."

He had a general distaste for politics, although there were the occasional people he made certain never made it to any position of authority within the city. Crime did not bother him as much as it bothered the mortal citizens, but he did occasionally take care of certain cases the police could not solve. In all honesty, he did very little to keep the city running. He was happy with the way it was and its ultimate destiny was something he wanted to discover, not change.

He smiled again, a more friendly smile this time, and asked, "Where would you like to go first? Or would you prefer the grand tour?"

Nightingale fidgeted a bit. "I'm sorry if this topic is very uncomfortable for you I didn't mean to pry. I just have this strange tendency to be very curious and ask alot of questions even about little things." She bowed her head a little and then smiled a bright smile (if such a thing existed in vampires) and said, "The Grand Tour would be nice."

"I did not mean to make you feel awkard. I do not mind answering whatever questions you ask, so please don't worry about such things." He grinned cheerfully, "I don't bite."

From a vampire, such a phrase meant little more than a claim of being harmless, although no one was ever completely bengin. Mostly he had meant it as a joke, but he was so accustomed to dealing with humans that he wondered if it would be noticed as such.

"The Grand Tour it is then, mi'lady," he said with a small bow, looking over to Zareb curiously. "You do not know the city well, either, do you? Would you like to join us? You're more than welcome to."

//After all, I wouldn't want you getting lost. I still don't know where that snake-demon is.//

He voiced the last in silence, not really wanting Nightingale to know about what he thought was a minor threat to the people of his city. The demon seemed to be nothing he could not handle, so why bother worrying the lady? After all, Zareb was there. Surely Nightingale would not be in any danger with a vampire and a half-demon protecting her, if she even needed it. He was not so certain that she did.

Luca Giovanni

PostPosted: Mon Aug 29, 2005 9:47 pm

Luca meandered around some sort of park in a daze. He'd remebered going to a family reunion in Venice, Italy.

The reunion was all fine and good, but the afterparty of sorts was extremely strange to him. It looked like everyone was drinking wine, but when he tried to have some for himself, some distant relative of his blocked his path.

"Ah, the drink's not quite up to your standards, sir" the man said.

"I think I'll be fine" Luca answered.

"If you want it that badly..." the man trailed off in midsentece, backing away slowly. Luca didnt get a chance to turn around as he felt a searing pain in his neck and heard a cry of pain, but not his own.

That was all Luca could remember. He somehow ended up back in the city, wandering around who-the-hell-knows-where, with a pair of .22's in his briefcase. There was a message beautifully carved into both: "An Embracing gift".
