But then a bright beam of light from the morning sun shone in her eyes. And unfortunately for her, the Hyuuga eyes were pretty sensitive to light. Right there and then, Elruda decided fate hated her. At least, SOMETHING hadn't changed over the 600 years of Hyuuga history.

Elruda waited a bit for the shock to her eyes to pass and after rubbing them once, she could see the track more clearly again. Her eyes hurt a bit but it didn't bother her as much as the bleeding wounds on her arms and legs. With that, she resumed to running her eighth lap.

Fortunately for her, she made it through without any more problems. Two more laps before I complete sensei's quota... The girl thought to herself. This assignment was proving to be very tedious and very tiring. She often wondered how the older Hyuugas attained such perfect chakra control and stamina but now she realized it wasn't mere talent but countless hours of training.

When Elruda had finished her ninth lap, she was gasping for breath. However, she didn't take the time to stop and continued on towards her tenth. It's only one more lap! I can do this! She reassured herself. Now, it wasn't just her wounds that were hurting but her muscles too from the workout.

Too bad for her that every one more attempt just doesn't settle well with fate. She had tripped, for the THIRD time in a day. Momentarily losing her self-control, Elruda took it to cursing fluently at fate, destiny, and any divine being that set her life in the hands of Wrath's cruelty.

((Oops. Last one don't count, supposed to rest a turn. =_=))
With that, Elruda returned to running the tenth lap. Better not trip again... Elruda sourly thought to herself as she trudged on. She was able to catch her breath in the short rest at least and by now, most of the wounds had stopped bleeding. Maybe fate would be kinder to her now...

It wasn't. Elruda could've sworn it was revenge when she fell AGAIN. This time, there weren't any stones or cracks in her way but the fact that she was just plain tired. Deciding that this assignment really hated her, Elruda chose to rest a bit more before running again.

When she was ready to run again, Elruda prepared to trudged through the track one more time. Hopefully, she won't fall again. She bet she has enough injuries for the day...no, a lifetime. This really won't do, her poor stamina.

"Dear God..." Elruda mumbled as she decided to just sit on the track, fully exhausted. This assignment was torture! Surely, even spies were treated kinder. Well, by now, she really decided to appreciate the Hyuuga elders. They certainly were much, MUCH kinder to her.

Now, she decided she was certainly ready to finish the tenth lap. Silently praying that nothing would go wrong again, Elruda resumed with her assignment. She briefly wondered if 10 laps would take such a toll on her, how would she deal with her sensei's future assignments.

When Elruda at last finished the tenth lap, she collapsed from exhaustion. She reminded herself that the legendary Maito Gai of Konoha could run one hundred laps around the whole village, not to mention even upside once... The famous Hyuuga ancestor Neji also did quite well under such a hot-blooded teacher. She can survive Wrath's torments...right?

Wrath walked over to one of the three balance beam located on the training grounds and jumped up onto one of them. Each one was a different width and sure enough Wrath chose the thinest one to conduct a portion of his training and for the next assignment he half expected Elruda to mount the second thinest. "Elruda, next assignment starts now. Maintaining balance." He informed his pupil.
Balance - Balance yourself on a thin balance beam.
DC: 14
Check: 1d20 + Dex mod + Balance Skill.
Cross the beam 3 times.
Wrath's assignment:
Balance - Balance yourself on a thin rock balance beam.
DC: 35
Check: 1d20 + Dex mod + Balance Skill.
Cross the beam 5 times.

Wrath slowly attempted to walk across the balance beam but was sure that he would fall off at least once. He thought this mainly because the beam he was on was only a half inch wide. But he was optimistic about it. However if he continuously failed then his optimism would cease.

Elruda looked uncertain for the first time when she saw Wrath's half-expectant look for her to mount the second thinnest beam. No...she would not back down. But she would feel more secure doing this assignment with her Byakugan. And so she did. "Byakugan!" She muttered, her hand in the proper seal. She nimbly climbed onto the beam besides her teacher.
And so, she attempted to cross the beam.

And sure enough he had fallen on his first try but this was a difficult task. Once Wrath had gotten back up to his feet he mounted the beam and tried again. Hopefully he would actually walk across it this time. And so he took his first steps again.
