Captain Reinhert Psh! A loud hiss and scorching sound could be heard coming from the kitchen, it seemed the man was hard at work, and would soon have all of his efforts paid off with some nice pint o tea. Cross was definitely pleased to hear such sounds. Nothing like the good old tea. Even better was that his haste in acceptance did not lead him to misfortune, for Serena did not mind at all. Nothing like turning a night of sore into a night of relaxation with some good old stories. After thinking about it, one could not get stories, if one did not posses sores and ti...or tea. It was a funny quirk that Cross had gathered over life, cross examining weird things. Perhaps in thirty or forty years he’d end up like the old man. Of course that was not something he really minded, if he was half as chipper as the old man when he is his age, he’d be more than pleased.
While Cross’s thoughts rummaged around, it actually took a bit more time than he had thought, for the man outside finally came back in and made a little more of a ruckus with the door than the old man, apparently he did not have the magical touch. “Ah, I see he chat you guys up to a night of tea eh?” His eyes glanced off towards the kitchen with a smirk on his face, obvious proud of his father, “He doesn’t have much company, but the ones he does get, he treats them like kin. I do hope it isn’t putting you two out of your way though, I know he more than appreciates you two staying up for him, but I can tell you are both tired, so whenever you feel like heading to sleep, go right ahead, I’ll have the attic set up for both of you.”
“Attic?” Cross blurted it out a little skeptical.
“Yeah, we have an attic.”
“Attic?” Even being as cozy as the house was, it still managed to develop an echo, old man walked in skillfully holding four mugs of hot tea and walked around handing it out to each person as he talked, “Attic you say, of course we have an attic, I built that too with my own two hands.” Cross could now tell when the old man was going to go off on a tangent, the man’s eyebrows would widen as he began talking. “You see, back in the old days there were not too many houses down here, in fact mine was one of the very few, the only people that wanted to live here were those who loved the forest. So, loving the forest as much as I do, I built an attic with a single window facing the forest. That way whenever I want to look at it early morning I can see the sun rising above the lushes tree line, there’s nothing better than that.”
“Speaking of which, father, I am going to go set up the bed for them.”
“Alright, have a good night, you should come back down and join us for more tea though.”
Well now that things started to settle down, Cross took a sip of the tea, and although it was still red hot, he could taste the fine sweet taste of it. Mmm nothing like good tea.

Serena took the mug of tea thankfully, smiling sweetly at the old man. Now these were the types of things that one had to be a part of, not merely observing. One could watch a conversation going on, or watch the friendly interactions of others, but it was never the same as actually being a part of it. She stood off to the side, smiling as she held the mug in her delicate hands.
She felt slightly rejuvinated, just standing there and listening to the old man. She blew on her tea to cool it down, before taking a tentative sip. If this was what it was like to be human, she thought she could get used to it. She smiled at the younger man when he spoke about readying their bed. Just the thought of sleep was very tempting, but Serena was determined to stay up a little longer. Besides, it was nighttime, the time she was used to being awake for.
She moved into the living room, or at least what must have been the living room, and took a seat. She looked to the old man, still smiling sweetly. "So, I do believe we were in store for some stories." She said in a jovial tone. Obviously, she was trying to get him into a long winded recount of some story that his son had likely heard a thousand times. She was trying to get him to spill on all his adventures. Surely a man of his age had much to tell.
It was always exciting to hear about another's life, at least to her, and she couldn't wait to hear the things that this man had been through. Being an observer all her life, it was refreshing to actually be a part of one of the conversations she had so longed to be a part of. She was far older than the man, though her youthful appearance would disuade anyone from thinking that, so she wanted to hear his views on the past. She was eager to hear about all of the adventures he had likely been on, living so close to a forest of such obvious magical persuasion.

Captain Reinhert Serena's words seemed to bring a strong overwhelming joy to him, it was probably rare that someone actually wanted to hear his stories besides his son. "Well let us begin then," he raised his glass into the air, "Muse, may your blessings be upon our tongue tonight." The old man's head was lower as he recited his phrase, and soon after he brought the cup down to his lips and took a sip from his tea. It was almost as if he was offering a toast to the muse. Cross had only heard about these old ways from stories, it seemed rather fitting that the old man was quaint with these methods. It seemed to set an aura of excitement as the underlining tone, Cross could not help but smile at such events. He could tell, this was a story he would want to stay awake for.
"So, I guess I'll be the one to start off." He repositioned his cup in his hand so it would be more convenient to take sips in between talking. "Long ago, when i was a young lad, younger than you good sir, I wanted to go on an adventure. Sure I know all good little youngsters have set in mind the same thing I had, but very rarely do they leave the comfort of their homes, their imagination suits well for the small forests around their towns, but it was never enough for me. I remember every day, I would bring my friends deeper into the forest, but every time fewer and fewer brave souls dared to go on. Finally, one day, I was the only person who was left who wanted to explore, and on that day I realized that town could never fulfill my thirst. So on that fateful day, I took a risk, I packed myself a week's worth of rations, and headed off through the forest, leaving everything behind, my family, my friends, and my past life, it was all behind me.I had finally beckoned to the call of adventure, and roamed from town to town, yet it was always the same, the feeling never left. And als always, I continued my adventure away from civilization, and towards the land of the enchanted.
"It was odd how I feel such a pull towards it, but I did, and soon I was surrounded in its depth. The surreality of such a place, it is simply awe inspiring. I had wanted to see all of its beauty, all of its glory, and all the magical sights. However, just as there are legends that if one sails too close to the edge of the ocean, one would see a serpent beast, well, that legend holds true to the depth of the forest. I had encountered a fiendish beast that would surely be the last of me"
The thrill of excitement rose within Cross as the man continued on, "there before me was a beast, three heads it had, and fire from its mouth it breathed, oh how my heart faltered. my exploring days would soon come to an end as the price I pay for the journey's toll would be my very life. It seemed that was the only option, and as the creature growled and snarled. Its teeth ready to sink into my body, its claws ready to shred, and its fiery spirit ready to roast me. Doom was inevitable." His head sank in despair as if it was happening now.
Anticipation built within Cross, the man obviously made it out alive, but how did he manage to pull it off? Like a kid at a campfire, he blurted out in pure glee, "What happened next?"

Serena leaned forward, still cupping the mug in her small hands. She could barely contain her excitement at the story. Her eyes were focused on the old man, and it seemed nothing could even hinder her concentration. She had been around long ago, before the magical creatures had receeded into the woods. They were nothing new to her.
Still, she couldn't help but feel a sense of thrill and exhiliration at his story. She watched him with great intent, and had Ziren not beat her to it, she would have blurted out something similar. She could not stand the suspense that this old man was leaving them with, and yet it only helped to build her own excitement in the story. Obviously, this man was a great storyteller.
Somewhere in the back of her mind, Serena was trying to picture the creature. She searched her vast bank of knowledge for a creature matching his description, trying to put a name to the beast. She was sure she knew what it was, but in her concentration on the story, she could not seem to grasp at the knowledge. What did it truly matter? The creature need not be given a name, for the excitement and thrill in the story itself was enough for Serena.

Captain Reinhert A smile grew on the old man's face, obviously pleased at the delight and enthusiasm of his audience. "Well, as one can see I made it here to today, but that would never have been possible had fate not intervened." Clank, his mug placed on a counter while he smacked his lips, giving them a bit of exercise before talking again.
"Well, there I was, afraid and with no hope, and so I did the one thing I coul do. I plead. That was not enough though, the creature growled, ready to seal my fate. And then it happened." His hands came down in a might clash Smack, "Just like that, a creature of brilliant white light, flashed towards the creature. The growling of the fiend halted as the white flash slowed to a stop. There before me was a winged horse, whose wings stretching far and wide, covering my entire sight of the fiend. The Pegasus was putting himself in danger to protect me. I felt so helpless and defenseless and yet, no matter how much the creature bellowed, I felt safe and in awe at the same time.
"The majestic horse snorted in response to the creatures growls, and then with a mighty push on hits hind quarters, it lifted its front legs high into the air, and let out the loudest neigh I have ever heard. Oh how the trees, the earth, and even my bones shook. All I could see were the feathers upon the horse, but I knew beyond that, the creature was shrieking in horror as it backed off into the forest.
"I'll never forget that moment, I grew such respect for the creature, the protector of the sacred forest. And," his hands opened wide gesturing towards every nickmack he had, "just as the Pegasus protected all things sacred in the forest, I have made it my mission to protect the sacred in our world. Every item here was once sacred to our world, but was casted away for the new ways, I ahve gathered all that I could, and they shall forever live on here, just as the magical creatures find solitude in their forest. It may not be much, but it be all that I can do, in my respects towards the protector of the forest." His eyes gleamed with curiosity now, "Wait, you're creatures of the forest too, then perchance you have met the winged guardian?"
Cross bit his lip a little holding back what he wanted to say. He did meet the creature, but what if it had went off to its death? He was not sure what to say really, so his eyes drifted towards Serena, she would know what to say right?

Serena's smile was light and joyful, she was completely happy and peaceful. She understood what the man was saying, the story could be no lie. It was very much like a Pegasus to protect the weak from creatures of a darker nature. They were pure animals, and fierce fighters. She was not surprised that he had been saved. However, what the man likely did not know, was that there were more than one in the forest. Better to not ruin his ideas.
She let her bright gaze wander over the room once more, looking at each of the items in turn, or so it would seem. Finally her eyes rested on the old man once more. For someone who was so new to the ways of humans, she was actually quite cunning. She was a sweet woman, who seemed to love to indulge others. This was no different.
She nodded to the old man, her smile never fading. "We have indeed met him, and he remembers you well. He protects the forest still, always fighting to save those in need. You are a lucky man to have met him, for he is a noble creature indeed." Her tone was soft and sweet, like everything about her. She seemed to be trying to assure the old man, to humour him in a way.
The truth was, she wasn't sure if the Pegasus who had rescued her had been the same that had saved his life, but it didn't matter. Her words about the creature were true, for they did protect those in need, if they were pure of heart. Her thoughts wandered to that kind creature, and she could only hope that he had not met his end at the hands of those who pursued her. She would not be able to handle the thought of another creature being slain because of her. At those thoughts, her eyes shifted to look at Ziren, for had he not been protecting her? Would he try to risk his life for her before the end? She didn't want to think of it. Simply the idea of another standing between her and death was far more than she could handle.
