If nothing else, his face seemed sincere. And if that wasn't convincing enough, the scars covering his body were. Perhaps the soul searching problem could be worked out.
Anex smiled slightly. "Okay. You look like a hard worker. I just feel bad that I can only help just you..." She trailed off, glancing at the other slaves.
"I guess I still have a conscience," she said, trying to laugh to lighten her mood. "I'll have the man let you out. And I'm Anex, but you probably already knew that." She looked furtively up at his eyes, then away.

Raine went her room and changed in to her night gown. She came out and went to start a fire in the fire place.
