Sanelle The Great Gatsby for school. It's...well...interesting. sweatdrop
I've never read it, in fact, I don't even know what it's about. BUT, here in Canada, for school we had to read The Lord of the Flies. PUTRID BOOK. I hate, hate, hate that book! I had to read it in English class, then in Social Studies, and then watch the video in Social Studies, then transferred schools and had to read/analyze the book AGAIN for English, AND watch the same movie for it AGAIN in English!! I HATE THAT BOOK!! Nasty, nasty book. URGH.
Other then that, the only things I remember having to read for school was The Outsiders, waaaay back when. And in grade 10, each class across the provinces (so is my understanding) will read either Romeo and Juliet, or The Taming of the Shrew. My class in grade 10 did Taming of the Shrew, I loved it, it was a great story and funny too! Shakesphere has a delicious sense of humor. 3nodding I'm like the only person I know who's never read Romeo and Juliet though, but I know the story, just because it's freaking everywhere sweatdrop In grade 11, there were two choices again, and I don't know the 2nd choice but my class read Hamlet. I LOVED the way Hamlet insulted people who didn't understand he was toying with them, and though everyone died, and Hamlet was actually really, really depressed, I liked it. ^.^ In grade 12, it's always MacBeth, always. Every grade 12 English class reads and analyzes it. It was ok, not my favourite story though.
Yeah...

Oddly enough, the only plays of Shakespear I've read in my English classes have been Macbeth and The Tempest and Much Ado About Nothing. There's a class he especially devoted to Shakespear for those that want but...eh. Not something I'm especially interested in^^
Memoirs of a Geisha is a nifty book. I wanna see the movie but that's just not happening.
Started A Clockwork Orange yesterday

I'm currently juuuuuuuuuuuuuuust finishing "The Scarlet Letter" for a school assignment. At first, it was heck trying to understand the thing and get involved cause it's so... I dunno it describes things in LOTS of detail and then when it's done, it goes on to describe it all over again differently. But now that the book is almost done, I think I'm gonna miss it. It took me some getting used to but now I like it.
