"We could use your blood." Watari replied with a smile. "I mean... wait... did you pass it all on to Ainsu? I mean, you should have two abilities at least, some people even have three." Of course, Watari seemed to be running on pure adrenaline at the moment. He was tired, but he wasn't about to stop yet. He couldn't draw his inventions... he couldn't change his gender and... he couldn't keep himself eternally awake either.
~ ~ ~
Ainsu laughed, "You didn't waste any it seems." he teased the woman, carefully leading her back to one of the guest rooms. "I just want to get clean then get some sleep Kaguyo." Of course, that all depended on if the man could stop himself from thinking for more than two seconds. Yuki's revelation was still fresh on his mind.
~ ~ ~
For a moment, Avaon was speechless. "I... I just kind of... I..." he shook his head. "I remember murders and certain things but... nothing of what you're talking about."

"Alright." Kaguyo smiled, shutting the door behind them, "I... Hm... I may or may not soak. I'm kinda drunk." she giggled, stumbling into the bathroom. The bath water was still running but she wasted no time stripping and nearly diving in. "Ohhhhh my god this is NICE." she gushed, splashing around, "You HAVE to get in here...!" Although it seemed like she'd be ready to pass out soon. She kept yawning almost every thirty seconds. She went to washing her hair and face, before just stretching out and soaking in the corner. "Ahhh..."
Yuki blinked, tilting her head. "Whaaa?? Really??? No way. I really doubt that's me..." she adjusted her glasses, "I was lucky to find I even had one, honestly... I didn't think I had any abilities until I got pregnant." She took off the hunter's jacket, revealing a dirty wife-beater tank beneath. She was getting ready to take a blood sample. "If you say so, though... I mean who knows, right?"
Kazuhiko shook his head. "Those memories were given to you.... Alright, look, I have a bit of her energy... Tell me if it feels familiar, ok?" He held out his hand, an icy wind of sorts wrapping around the man. "Doesn't it feel soothing?"

Laughing, Ainsu got into the bath across from Kaguyo, his clothes folded up in a pile not far away. "You know," he smiled, watching the woman's antics, "It's never good to fall asleep in the bath, Kaguyo." He was carefully beginning to wash his own hair.
~ ~ ~
"Exactly." Watari replied with a beaming smile. "Besides, maybe this will help me figure out what your power is?" he shrugged, watching Yuki from the computer desk. "Who knows... besides, it couldn't hurt."
~ ~ ~
Avaon eventually shook his head, "It's cold." he replied, watching Kazuhiko warily. "Look, I really don't get what you're trying to have me remember."

Yuki shrugged. "Hey, you pay my salary." she grinned, "And the only thing in the job description is to help with research. Technically this is helping, right?" She started taking samples of her own blood after swabbing her arm with an alcohol wipe. "Alright... How much you need?"
"It's part of you." Kazuhiko kept pressing, intensifying it. "This is your mother's energy, my friend." It was cold, but gentle... It was like snow, and yet like winter in its entirety. "I'm trying to get you to remember who you are." he explained. "Don't you find it odd you don't recognize your own mother?"
Kaguyo smiled, stretching out again. "I suppose not." she rinsed herself off, moving to him. She gave him a soft kiss on the cheek before kissing him again, climbing out of the bath. "I'm going to sleep, my dear. Aishiteru." She stretched out her arms and snuggled into her towel, yawning loudly and staggering a bit. "Oh... oh goodness yes, bedtime." she muttered to herself sheepishly, "Goddess Kaguyo since when were you such a weakass at drinking...?" It was just barely loud enough for Ainsu to hear, but she was awfully rosy in the cheeks. "See you in a little bit my love." she smiled warmly, exiting the bathroom. As soon as she had on her nightgown and robe, she moved to lock the door. Sad to say, it was time to leave.

"Not much." Watari replied, trying not to laugh. "And yes, it is helping with the research... far more than you think, Yuki. If I can find out how our blood is different, I may find a way to jar mine back into acting right. If not... we'll have to try another route."
~ ~ ~
Avaon sighed in frustration, "What I find odd is no one believing who I am." he replied, seeming about ready to snap. "Konton massacred everyone except me and no one believes I'm Avaon!"
~ ~ ~
Laughing softly, Ainsu nodded. "I'll be out soon." he replied, rinsing his hair. "And you'd better not go anywhere. If I get out and find you're gone... I'm getting Po-ar to teleport me to Tarnbsei immediately." his gaze narrowed slightly. "I'm not making light of this, Kaguyo. You have a knack for running off."

Kaguyo paused in the doorway, watching him. "G'damn you're good... I really am that easy to read, aren't I?" She bit her lip, eyes saddening. "I'm sorry, Su-kun." She locked and barricaded the door, sprinting off into the hallways. With a quick blast of ki, she was off. With a pair of pants nearby and an advantage in power and speed... if she didn't pull this off correctly, she would be in some major s**t with Ainsu. The bath, the door, they would all be temporary obstacles to go through, like a tornado through a highly populated city. If he caught her... When he caught her... there would be hell to pay for her deception. Well... really, there wasn't any way to avoid that now, was there? Time to find Konton.
Kazahiko shook his head. "Iie. Trust me... Here. Come and meet him." He gently grabbed the man's---technically, child's---hand, opening a portal to Tir-Na-Nog. The lands of the dead had many, many names. "Ava!" he shouted, pulling the man out, "Help me convince him onegai!" Avaon looked a bit unsettled, but unlike Kazuhiko, he was calm. "Don't be so rough, Kazu." he scolded him softly, pulling him off his body. "I'm sorry about my nephew. He can be a bit pushy sometimes." "I'm just doing my job." the boy snapped, "I'm tired and hungry and half the people I know just died." "Be calm." Avaon repeated to both of them. "Just don't eat anything here. Not the best idea. Do you remember anything, sir?" "Not a---" "Shhh." Avaon shook his head, "Let us talk for a minute Kazuhiko. I promise we'll be fine. Go play for a bit. You need a break, and there are tons of kids about." Once he was gone, he tilted his head at the body. "Never thought I'd see that thing again, to be honest..."
Yuki smiled. "I wonder how different our blood could be?" she tossed him a small, labeled tube, "Couldn't be THAT different right?"

A split second before Kaguyo closed the door, Ainsu was moving. "KAGUYO!" he shouted, slamming into the now locked door. He took a second, grabbed his clothes and threw them on. Sopping wet, his hair dripping, the man pulled it to the side so he could see through the thick strands. With one well aimed blast... the door flew off it's hinges. Kaguyo was nowhere in sight. But Ainsu knew... he could feel her fleeing, his empathy screaming at him that she was sorry but that she had to go. "Not without me..." Ainsu whispered before dashing down the hall after her.
~ ~ ~
Avaon was speechless. "How?" That word eventually left his mouth as he stared at the spirit of the body that was supposedly his own. "How the hell? What kind of illusion is this?"
~ ~ ~
"In some ways, yes." Watari replied, catching the tube and beginning to extract some of the blood to put on a slide. "My powers are sealed, meaning something in my brain's been shut off. I don't know how or where... but blood runs to the brain, right?" he smiled slightly, "Meaning blood holds traces of whatever spot it is in the brain, that creates the powers. Each is different on a certain level but relatively the same on others. If my powers are shut off, my blood should be obviously different from yours... unless you really DID have only one power, in which case it should be rather similar." He sighed, shaking his head. "And to think that made sense when I thought it and turned into completel jibberish when I said it..."

Yuki just smiled. "I think I get what you're saying. For all we know your blood doesn't make a certain enzyme anymore. We'll study brain activity as well, take a few MRIs and such. We'll need a Tarnbjin with abilities... Maybe Kaguyo or Ainsu, Po-ar. Po-ar might be pushing it, he's half....well... he isn't all Tarnbjin, is he?? I heard lots of rumors down below around when he was born."
It was one thing to hear him screaming after her.... It was another thing entirely to feel his energy like an avalanche behind her, matching and even overwhelming her own without barely an effort. She started freezing the floor behind her, but they both knew where she was ice, he was fire. He could melt it just by raising his ki a few levels. Instead she attempted to freeze the air, freezing his clothes and all else that was wet; she was trying to give him hypothermia. She even went so far as to seal off an entire section of the hallway with ice two feet thick, using the blast of energy to propel her forward even faster. She had to make it to the streets, or to the roof, or anywhere that she could hide... At least the ice wall would hold him for two, three seconds. The way she was going, she was making a trail for herself. How hard was it to notice a thirty plus degree drop in temperature---indoors, at that? But an idea struck Kaguyo, even if she didn't know if Ainsu would fall for it; she quickly slammed the down button on the elevator. Instead of waiting, she practically dove through the door into the stairwell, starting to rush downwards into the darkness. Some of the lights were out, and even with the city and advertisements shining in the windows, it still seemed inkily dark... Almost comforting, she couldn't help thinking. She didn't even run anymore, flying down the center of the winding flights; having only been here once before, she really had no idea where she was going. Even so, she knew she was close. "I want to see him." she spoke into the darkness, eventually stopping. "Let me see him, damnit...!" Where better to find Konton than somewhere dark and remote? Everyone always used the elevators anyhow. If she was lucky, Ainsu would break into the elevator shaft... Most likely, he would pinpoint her energy like a bloodhound, and if he didn't blast through the floors as well... "Konton!!" But with the violent opening of the door a few flights up, she bolted yet again, having another idea of where to go. If he wasn't in the shadows, he would be in Shiori's room. She plunged deeper into the darkness, trying to estimate which floor the woman had been living on. "You stupid b*****d, where are you...?!" she hissed, "I know you hear me...!" With all the little traps, barriers, and outright deception, there was the real likelihood that Ainsu would kill her. She wasn't acting like a friend, that was for sure... Certainly not like a lover... She felt guilty, but she didn't want to risk him. Turning around as she plummeted downwards, she released yet another blast of ice, this time letting it follow her a few floors down. "That should hold him off..." she whispered, biting her lip. If he broke that, it could be dangerous for her... Good thing she didn't intend to stick around long.
"Not an illusion." Avaon replied calmly. "Look, I'm a spirit... You can't touch me. We can both touch Kazu, yes... but... well, he's a different case entirely." He glanced at the boy, who was sticking his fingers in his nose and chasing kids while making crazy faces. The boy certainly was a personality. Point made. "See? You're technically alive." he sighed, poking his hand through him. "Even if it's my body, I'm technically dead here. Chain was broken." he showed it to him. "Let me help your spirit out of that. Trust me, you'll feel a lot better afterwards. It's like you expand six or seven hundred times. Those things are terribly cramped. C'mon, wade into the water." he insisted, stepping in about knee-high. "Wanna see what you REALLY look like?"

But Watari laughed at this. "No no no... Po-ar is full Tarnb-jin. His aunt isn't... but Po-ar himself is." the scientist smiled, shaking his head. "The rumors were probably because of his hair color, ne? He doesn't have the white hair that distinguishes Tarnb-jin royalty... probably because of his mother. Sometimes the gene is dormant. It usually means that the carrier is weaker than the previous generation and thus the gene pushes back to allow the more normal hair color." Obviously... Watari had done some tests to confirm this... "Aled's strong... Kazuhiko's insanely strong... Po-ar..." Watari shrugged slightly. "He can be strong, but he's more known for level-headed decisions then anything else really. Less rash."
~ ~ ~
Avaon's gaze narrowed suspiciously. "Why would I want to leave my body, cramped or not?" he asked, though he did follow after the spirit Avaon. But he stopped at the edge of the water. There was something, something warning him away... telling him that it was a trap... But another part of him was screaming that it was far from dangerous...
~ ~ ~
Enraged was an understatement. Ainsu was pissed beyond words. He'd stopped yelling Kaguyo's name... only because he kept having to gulp down lung full after lung full of icy air. Opting to keep his body warm, Ainsu's ki flared so drastically that he very nearly burned the walls which he flew down. Running? HAH! This was hardly the time to run after Kaguyo. Ainsu was perhaps the fastest Tarnb-jin alive, certainly the fastest that had ever been in Aled's army. To catch Kaguyo flying would be simple. If it wasn't for all the damn ice! For once, Ainsu was glad his clothes didn't incinerate themselves, but they were getting burdened down with ice. But Ainsu kept his body temperature up, focusing on moving forward through the air... and, well, not running into anything in the process. Until Ainsu slammed headfirst into a solid wall of ice. Falling onto his back, the man looked up at the monstrosity and groaned. It was going to take a lot to melt that and NOT bring the hallway down with it... "Just a small hole..." Ainsu whispered, pushing his hands into the middle and carefully beginning to melt the ice. He was loosing precious time... When the hole was big enough for him to fit through, Ainsu crawled across the ice and tumbled out the other side. Luckily, it hadn't broken or hurt the hallway. With a sigh, he took to the air again and flew, faster and faster, speeding farther down the hall and trying to make up for time lost. "Elevator..." he whispered before stopping on front of the closed doors. Pressing the button, Ainsu took a few seconds to think. Where was Kaguyo going? What was she trying to do? Obviously she was trying to get to Aled... but how? Then... Ainsu paled dangerously. "Screw the elevator..." he hissed, dashing to the side and flying straight down the stairwell. He hit a floor and sprinted forward in the air. The same floor that Shiori's room had been on...

Kaguyo had gotten to Shiori's room first, however... even if she could feel Ainsu racing to get to her. He was dangerously close. "Konton!" she shouted again, bursting into the room, "Where the hell are you you lazy sonoffabitch?!" What better way to get him to come than to provoke him? She barricaded the door, and even strengthened it with her ice. It would buy her maybe a minute. "Konton..." she spoke again, spinning around, "I know you hear me, Konton..."
Avaon shrugged. "Well, you don't believe us. Honestly, there's no harm I can do to you, nor this lake. You're alive, after all. I'm dead. I COULD f#ck with your energy IF I wanted to, but that's... well, clearly, if I had wanted to do that, I would when I had first seen you. Or better yet, let Kazuhiko extract you. Either way, look, you can trust me. If you are who I think you are, I know quite a bit of your mother.... A good bit more about your father. Would you care to know?"
Yuki smiled slightly. "Ah, I see..." she tilted her head, watching him. "Kazuhiko certainly takes after his grandfather then, doesn't he?" She moved over to his side, trying to sneak a peek through the microscope. "So, see anything neat?"

"Of course I hear you, stop shouting." The voice came from the far wall of the room. It seemingly melted away to reveal the demon sitting on Aled's throne. It was a doorway... a connection between the worlds... made by a god-like demon. "What is it you want, Kaguyo? I don't have time for your games."
~ ~ ~
"Wouldn't they be the same person?" Avaon asked, "For you and for me, I mean?" He still didn't believe that he was someone other than Avaon. It all sounded ridiculous... But he stepped into the water nevertheless...
~ ~ ~
Watari moved out of the way to allow Yuki to look. "Nothing yet... as for sides, of course! Kazuhiko looks like I would think Aled had as a child... well, Aled looks a bit more feminine... but you get my point."

Kaguyo froze for a few seconds, but quickly moved towards the passage. Ainsu was most likely beginning to work at the door. "I need to see him." Kaguyo answered honestly, kneeling on one knee, "Please, let me see him..." They knew who she meant. "Neither of us have time for games. Please, I beg you. I am no threat to you, to any of you, and you know this... Just please, let me see him. I beg of you, just let me see Aled..." She looked up at him, and for once she was being entirely honest. "I'll stay as long as you deem necessary, I won't interfere, please, just let me see him..."
Yuki smiled, examining the blood. "They do look a bit different, though, don't they?" she glanced over at the senior scientist, "Do you have any idea why?" They didn't need to discuss the royal family any further, not until they had blood samples.
What 'Avaon' saw would have shocked him. He certainly looked nothing like Avaon; in fact, he was a different race entirely. He would have felt that the planet was not his own the second he stepped in. "You're the son of Kaguyo and Ainsu." Avaon explained, arms crossed, "I think I know who did this to you. You died before you were born... That's why the only memories you have are mine. Don't worry though. Kazuhiko's right, you're going to be reborn. We all are at one point or another." he assured him, stepping forward. "I know you might not believe me...." But the other thing he failed to mention was that the water helped shed the mortal form. His body fell listless into the water, barely on the shore; the soul was left standing, his reflection clear as a mirror. "Do you understand, my friend?"

Smirking darkly, Konton waved a hand, "Then step forward, Kaguyo." He didn't ask her anything else, didn't make her promise anything to him. He simply let her enter his world... this new realm of his... Konton's Tarnbsei...
It was about that time that Ainsu rammed into the door. It wasn't enough to break it, but his ki was rising fast to knock it in. "Kaguyo! Don't you dare call Konton! KAGUYO!" But he could already feel what she'd done...
~ ~ ~
"A bit." Watari replied with a nod, smiling at Yuki softly. "I'm thinking that it COULD be a difference simply because my powers are shut off. However... I'm not finding any real trace of your powers either... which confuses me because no Tarnb-jin has ever had only one power before."
~ ~ ~
'Avaon' stood there, confused and perplexed. It wasn't that the body was gone... It wasn't that his spirit was free and feeling all sorts of things for once... It wasn't even anything that the true Avaon said to him. It was the image before him... A picture perfect replica of a younger Ainsu...

"What?" Yuki blinked, tilting her head, "Really?? I thought everyone just had one..." Clearly she was mistaken. "Shouldn't there be others?"
Kaguyo was about to run forward when the slamming of the door behind her made her stagger and hesitate. One, two, three times he rammed into the door, four, five... "I'm sorry, Su-kun..." she closed her eyes, shaking her head, "Forgive me..." Just as the door shattered, she bolted forward into the tunnel, looking back with perhaps the most mournful look Ainsu had ever seen. She really did regret this, there was no mistaking that. "Forgive me..."
Avaon smiled, tilting his head. "You are certainly your father's son." he nodded approvingly, "I wonder what you have of your mother's? What sort of powers do you have, do you know?"

"There should be at least another." Watari replied, nodding slightly as he crossed his arms over his chest. "This is the only time I've ever come across someone with just one power... are you full Tarnb-jin, Yuki-chan? I mean, sometimes being of mixed blood can grant different ability amounts. For instance, Ashuri's mixed and she has three abilities... very rare."
~ ~ ~
Falling through the door, Ainsu scrambled to his feet and dashed forward. Only to see Konton's smirking face and Kaguyo's regret-filled visages disappear. Needless to say, Ainsu slammed into the wall. "KAGUYO!" he shouted, pounding on the wall. But it was no use... She was gone.
"So..." Konton spoke lazily, watching Kaguyo like a predator. "Why MUST you see Aled, hmm?"
~ ~ ~
The young man shook his head, "I... I don't even know my name..." he whispered, most of the memories of Avaon's having flowed out of his head when he left the body.
