So, this is way late, but the general consensus here is Gundam Wing = gay, older Gundam series = better?
I always liked the GW universe and Mobile Suits (even minus the Gundams), so I'm making an RP just like that: MS combat similar to 08th MS Team, but in the GW universe, no Gundams or Gundam pilots. More realistic, paramilitary kinda thing.
So does it being GW still ruin it? I would probably do UC, but I just don't know as much about it all. I don't think playing through a few UC-based games like Journey to Jaburo cuts it, either.

Anonymooo They're quite helpful, actually. So you said you wanted two, right? 3nodding Yes, I do.
And it's agreed on the 2k per picture deal, correct?

I just don't like Gundam W. I really don't mind if other people like it, because despite my dislike of it, I will admit that it had very well-done politics and intrigue.
My real problem with it was that the Gundams were more or less invincible compared to all the other Mobile Suits they fought against. In G Gundam, ALL the MS were superpowered, and things were even across the board (more or less).
My personal favorite UC Gundam series are the shorter ones--0083 and 08th MS Team, with Zeta Gundam coming in a very close third. Give those a whack sometime. 3nodding

I didn't really like the gundom series where all of the characters where small. I think the last gundom series I ever saw was the gundom seed. I like the one with the white base, and I don't remember the 08th series, but I would like to see those two, and a few others also.

Yeah, 0083 looked good, too. I really need to watch them already. That's what I want to do with this RP. No super soldier characters or invincible Mobile Suits, since everyone will be more or less equal in standard Mobile Suits, far from indestructible. I think that snags most people on GW--the invincible Mobile Suits, and a bunch of skilled teenager pilots who really looked more pretty than practical. Ugh, it spawns plenty of boy-on-boy action that I can't say I honestly admire.
But I liked the political intrigue as well, especially the idea that the pilots were really fighting to protect the Colonies in the end. The fact that OZ staged a coup to take over the entire world government was pretty nifty, too.

I did appreciate that twist in W (that the "good guys" were for all intents and purposes Zeon-type terrorists), but yeah, it was mainly the ridiculously overgrown GW yaoi fanbase that turned me away from the series, in addition to the uber-powerful MS. It's not a bad series, it's just one that I don't care for as much, for decent reasons. I still wonder why people rag on G Gundam so damn much. xd
Go to Boxtorrents or Baka-Updates, and you can probably find torrents for 'em, Cael.

Thanks. I just might do that if I can squeeze some more room on my hard drive. G Gundam looks hilarious. For those that hate it, I don't think it's meant to really be taken as seriously as UC stuff. I still liked the quirky idea.

Of course G Gundam wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Give the guy who would later do the absolutely ******** spectacular Giant Robo a full Gundam series to work with, and he turns out one of the most stylishly racist shows ever. Can't beat Neo Mexico's Tequila Gundam. xd
(Incidentally, upon the release of G Gundam in the US, Animerica held a contest to design other international Future Century-style Gundams. I really, really wanted to enter Neo Afghanistan's Osama bin Gundam, but it never made it past the planning stages, 'cause I knew I'd get murdered in my sleep for it.)

I love that image. XD
And, yeah, the Tequila Gundam, plus the fact that it lost so easily (I only saw one episode with it) and all the other Gundams based so closely on ethnicity crack me up. Though they should've given the Japanese Gundam fair treatment. I did like the fact that the American one was a boxer.

I want to see Getter Robo Armegeddon, but I've been told watching the original series would help a great deal. Plus it's kind of criminal for me of all people to know so little about a giant robot anime. Crawleymang~ *Kicks down the door so hard that everyone goes flying out the back* MAKE WAY! *enters* ~sitting at a butter churn dressed like an Amish woman~ Make Whey? I'm still working on the curds!
