*Kage smirks and is carried off on a tuft of wind. He stays near Shin, slower and observant. The wind current nevertheless sends him at daring speeds, whipping around trees and carving a path into the ground. Kage was holding back, hoping not to have to deny a student. It seemed like Shin would have a good chance anyway....*

*Kage arrives and nods to Shin* Showy, but you got the job done. You've at least managed to amuse me. You are now a wind mage. Welcome to a path with much to learn.

"And where might this trek of mighty knowledge being?"
He said standing to brush himself off of the various leaves, vegitation, and debris he had accumulated.

hah...understanding the flows of wind is like telling the sun to set in the morning. It will neither obey you, nor does it make much sense.

you have a choice, Shin. You may attempt to raise your magic power, or you can train to learn some of the advantages the wind school has to offer.

*Kage nods and smirks* Then I suppose we'll begin the lessons immediately. As I was saying, air is not the easiest to control, but it can yield great benefits. It twists and flows, delicate like holding onto individual threads of silk underwater. Once you understand that you can never control the air, it will comply with you...
*he raises his right hand, and currents of air coil around his arm, surging and flowing over his knuckles with intent. Kage merely touches the ground with his palm and a pulse of wind reaches out to the meadow, creating a sonic boom effect*

I imagine not...come this way. *Kage leads him into the forest in a clearing where they are encircled by large trees that block out sunlight*
Air as a weapon, is deadly. It strikes swiftly, and it strikes without being seen, only felt. This is why it disrupts opponents with ease; there is no preparation for an aggressive wind. *he closes his wind-powered fist, choosing to extend his index finger. He points to the nearest tree and draws a vertical line with his finger, causing a strong force of air to cut the entire tree symmetrically in half*
Now then. You will learn to let the air dance with your hands. Then you will sever 3 trees. The cuts must be clean and your strikes accurate. This should be easy for you. ((roll a d20 for each tree. if your results are high enough you will have cut it down and succeeded.))

Focusing his energies, he draws the wind into his right hand. Shin watches as the wind swirls above his open palm, gaining force and speed. Cooly, he targets a rather large oak drawing the same straight line as Kage. He repeats the process two more times.

*Kage shakes his head* You had it, then you lost it. Remember, you do not move the wind, the wind moves you. Try it again, Shin. This technique is basic, and you must understand it to have a chance as a battle mage.

Focusing on being moved rather than moving, he once again gathers the winds to his hand before thrusting them towards another grove of trees.

*Kage observes Shin's style and frowns* There's something you're not doing right. Do not exert force with your wind moves. The wind does the force for you, or else you will simply tire yourself. Try once again.

Shin clears his mind, waiting for the wind to move him of its own accord. He directs his own arm towards yet another grove of trees and releases twice.
