The loving displays of affection between the young couple was cut short as Tumai's attention was brought back to Maji. He nodded firmly, allowing his gingery mane to fall loosely around his face before he flicked it back. "As I said Maji, we'll not let you down." He was still finding it difficult to see Maji in such a mood, having never seen him like this before. If anything though, it highlighted the seriousness of the situation the Mistweavers were currently facing.
When Maji turned to Obi, Tumai turned to Aleu, his smile returning. With a slight movement of his head, he motioned for her to follow him. He briefly turned back to Maji and Obi, bowing his head respectfully, and then went to exit the cave with Aleu at his side. Everything had gone as well as they had hoped. Today was the beginning of the rest of their shared life.

___________________________________________ (Time jump from previous post) ___________________________________________ This place had once been nothing short of perfect... the roaring waterfalls of clear, pure water sending swirling mists from where they met with the rivers that carried the water through the lands, feeding what had once been a lush jungle to meet in the lake before continuing outward once more. The mornings had once been glorious, the sun rising through the distant mist over the seemingly endless jungle. Nights had been quiet and peaceful, cool and filled with the distant humming of the crickets. As a cub, Maji had seen nothing but harmony and peace in the land... his home. The herds roamed freely, large and healthy. Elephants splashed in the lake, zebra and gazelle grazed without a thought in the world. The few that had come into the land had sought him out, asked for the privlage of living in this sacred place and he taught them what he knew, taugt them to respect the land, the creatures, and the storm king...
Things had changed.
The land was dry... ever since they came the land had become deprived of the storm king's blessing. The rains stopped falling, the rivers had run low, the herds moved on or became thin and scarce, over hunted by beasts that had no right to be within the land. They respected none but themselves. They called this place their home without knowlege of the sacred privilage it was to have such an honor. Without respect for the storm king and his blessing, respect for the creatures and those that ahd come before them... those that had the right to live here, the blessing of the rain, and who through their veins ran the blood of those past, those past who had been killed through the foolishness of the outsiders.
The silver lion paced outside of his home cave, he'd grown thinner in recent days. He had learned to hunt, learned to kill the creatures he had once run with, spoken with, slept beside... he prayed for them after the kill but taking life changed one's self. He had to... those of the true pride depended on eachother. The cubs were getting larger, better trained, stronger.
He paused, an ear rotating towards the subtle clearing of a throat behind him. It was Taban, the 'son' of the Anansi king... an unlikely allyance but one that was nessicary to the survival of the pride. "Welcome, Taban. What news this morning?"

Taban tipped his head politely, the casual smile ever present on his lips. He never seemed to carry himself in any other way. Casual, proud, but observant...very, very observant. He spoke in such a way that nothing was entirely handed over, foe or ally, he always seemed to side-step some details, keeping them to himself. His reasons were his own, and while many thought him odd for his... persistance on what he claimed to be, he had already proven himself quite useful. "Nothing that will likely lighten your mood I'm afraid." Taban said aplogetically, stepping out towards the ledge of the cave beside the silver lion. "The outsiders have grown in number... the patrol has kept quiet watch on their numbers... the cubs from Ithi linger... the one with the pink crown has been around all over in the lower lands, there is a firekin male who has spawned with a black lioness living more towards the edge- three females were born between them. A yellow male has been living in the lower caves...calls them his own. Cheetahs and wild dogs have also invaded the boarders, many of he herds are moving away, they fear overhunting and rightfully so. I also have seen both Denge and Ithi in our boarders again..." He paused at the dangerous growl from Maji, "I am afraid that... they have their own plans for this place."

Anger wasn't something that was often seen in the eyes of the once peaceful silver lion, but recently it was all too common. A burning rage, insult, outrage, and worry. "Ithi...that beast." He growled, scraping his claws against the stone. That decietful wench of a lioness... her and her lioness lover... bearing the child of that beast Nykendu, hiding another lioness within their lands without any kind of concent, brining in more young lives, more mouths to feed when those that already lived were nearly starving... it was unfair to the cubs, more importantly it was unfair to those that righfully lived.
"Thank you Taban." He said quietly, "Tighten the watch... have our cubs move closer to the caves, I'll speak with them."
He stepped back as Taban tilted his head and turned to make his way off once more... it was risky taking the cheetah in... he seemed sly, quiet, like he was guarding something. The very nature of their pride was enough to keep wary, but at that time it was a nessicary gamble.

Obi cautiously walked toward his adopted father, ears lowered against his bushy mane. Maji had been increasingly on edge due to these outsider lions... moving in on the lands and taking away from the pride.
As he approached his head lowered. "Hello Father." Obi spoke quietly.
He wished everything would just go back to the way they were when he was a cub growing up with Maji. He seemed much happier than.

The lion paused, an ear rotating back at the familar voice, deeper now, stronger. The anger melted from his expression in only a moment as he turned himself about, facing his adopted son. "Ah Obi." He beamed with pride as he looked over the young lion, now grown into a proud adult, his golden mane as thick as perhaps even his own silvery one, "Has it really been that long? I must apologize."
He stepped forward, lowering his head to nuzzle at Obi's gently, "You look well. I have been under a few obligations... praying to the storm king and handling affairs within the pride and with our allys. I hope you can forgive me."

Obi nuzzled Maji back, showing the affection a son would to his beloved his father. His ears perked forward and a smile starched across his Maw. "If it's what you need to do that I hold nothing against you father. I know you know what is best for this pride... you are so wise."
It really had been so long ago that Obi had lost his real parents and was taken in. By now he had forgotten most the horrors during that day and accepted the fact he may never see his parents again.
"It has been. I finally have a mane that is... " He looked over Maji's floof. "Close to your great one. "

Maji chuckled, stepping his way from the ledge into the caves, "Come, I think it's time I get some fresh air."
He had been dreading leaving the cave... seeing the sad state of his home and scenting all the invadors. The herds he used to walk among and speak to were now thin, leaving, or dead. Such a sad state his home was in... it was good to know that there was still his family. Obi, his adopted son, Kela his sister, Enki and Ramses, all their cubs. All of them, he'd keep them safe here, make sure they had food and water no matter what the cost or how low he'd be forced to stoop.
"Tell me what you've been up to. Have you been eating well?"

"yes Father." Obi nodded and followed along side Maji.
"I have been wondering about. Here, there... " As he spoke 'There' he trailed off a bit. Not much green left. That was the thing he loved about this place when he was little. He had never seen so much green in one place before.
"There has been enough food to get by.." He looked up at Maji briefly than forward again.
