I remember when the music director of my church (then assistant) taught e to support my diaphragm. She's really hot, and only 4 years older than me, and she showed my by standing behind me and holding back my stomach. Then she let me try on her smile It was nice, lmao. Sux tho, cuz she's going with our old music director down in laguna niguel, and now IM left to step up >_> It'll be 2 years or so before I can truly be the music director, only because I can't play piano (well) and I can't direct choir (well). Bah, I hate responsibility... but yeah, diaphragm..... heh.

Ash Rail That's diaphragm support. ^ ^ That's something I need to work on. I practiced for the first time since Memorial day. Whoa. Just whoa. I was really depressed after that...

An easy way to work on that is making sure your tone is absolutely strait. That means NO wavers or anything in long tones. If you hear a slight wobble, start over.
I remember my sax teacher spending entire lessons supervising my long tone practicing. > <

But that's always mistaken as a weakeness in tone. Because I've noticed (because I teach sometimes to younger students) that kids with weaker tones always have that shaky tone quality. So I was like "Oh, shiite". So now I only use vibrato in jazz.

There's more contrast that way.

personally, I would rotate reeds everyday, its useful if you have a concert or audition coming up (ugh bad memories of reeds chipping during auditions....) and you aren't stuck with one reed for far too long.
i do that sometimes... sweatdrop

I've been playing my clarinet for four years. It's fun. Hard at first 'cause I didn't understand a single note...
