"Well," Haradhel said thoughtfully, carving away at the stick, "marriage is something that only happens to you once in your lifetime, it's a very special event that binds you and your husband together for the rest of your lives. So, the same way that most people like to dress up for special occasions, the bride dresses up to be her prettiest, because it is the most special occasion of her life, and because it only happens once."

Elnara nodded and smiled. "I'm fine," she assured him. "I think I just need to rest my arms a bit, is all."
She rubbed at her shoulders.
"They're ... well, I'll be fine in a few minutes."

Lore nodded slowly as he gave her time, not sure what else he could do to help. Since he didn't know how else to make her arms better, well, there was always massaging it, but they were in the middle of the desert and that was invading personal space.
Yes, even after all this time, there were certain aspects of personal space he would not cross.

Lin hadn't thought about it that way, it would be considered something special if it only happened once.
"I guess so, but then the man would dress up too?"
Though she found there wasn't much for a gu yto dress up as.

"Yes," Haradhel laughed. "He does as well, he wears some very fine clothes. Usually robes of some sort, though anything really nice would do. After all, it's a special day for him as well!"
Somehow she didn't see anything strange about discussing such things with such a young child.

Elnara rubbed her shoulders, trying to rid them of their stiffness and soreness, and after a few minutes she felt quite a bit better.
"All right," she murmured, standing, "I think I'm ready again." She lifted her eyes to look at Lore. "And you?"

"I'm ready," Lore murmured.
He nodded, taking a hold of her hand to let her know he was fine. Besides he reasoned, there wasn't much he had done, except ride, so he hadn't expended himself the way she had.

She tried to picture her Daddy in robes, it didn't work so well and black robes wouldn't look so good. Though she didn't know what sort of nice clothes he would wear then.
"Hmm.... that would be hard to imagine, but okay! What else do they do?"

Elnara squeezed Lore's hand, smiling, then stepped back a bit to give herself more room and changed once more into a roc. She pressed herself close to the ground once more so that Lore could climb up onto her back again.
Another fifty miles, she told herself, and she could rest again.

Haradhel looked thoughtful as she continued her work with the broom handle.
"Well ... there's a ceremony, where the people who are getting married make vows to each other," she said softly. "They make promises to each other to love each other for their whole lives ... to take care of each other, help each other ..."

"Hmmm.... okay.... that makes sense," Lin looked thoughtful.
Well that should be a given, but she supposed because it was a 'ceremony' they had to do that. It made sense in a way, even if she didn't fully understand the concept.
"That's good! Do they do anything after that?"

Lore mounted onto her once more, careful of her now feathers, just as he would be careful with her own hair. Once he got him self settled in a way that he was sure there would be no sharp joints (like knees or elbows) digging into her, did he give the okay.
"I'm ready."

Elnara spread her wings and launched towards the sky once more. As tired as her limbs were, the thought that they were nearly there gave her added strength and energy, and she soared across the desert sky towards the spot of green that could be seen as little more than a speck in the distance.

"Well," Haradhel smiled, "there's always a meal, a banquet or a feast if there are a lot of people, and quite often there is music and dancing as well. A big celebration, anyways, however it's done. That's pretty much it, and then the bride and groom begin their life together ... for the rest of their lives."
She finished a small staff, about the same length as from her elbow to her wrist, and held it out to Lin. "How's this?"
