He turned his head over his shoulder to look at his father as he explained, dyed strands of hair falling over one of his eyes as he watched and listened to his father. Oh so it wasn't enough just to do it but he had to use his imagination too. Got it. Thus a little nod from him, before looking back to the table and the paper. Okay, let's try again.

Thus he closed his eyes, because it was always easier to get a picture in his head when they were closed. A nice clean image in his head before he opened them again and looked to the paper once more, again setting his finger down and pulling it along the tear his father had made.

And watched with so much joy as the fibers drew themselves back together, getting an excited noise from him in the accomplishment. Though he had only managed to make the paper half mend before that glow flicked a moment and went out, Malikhai giving an 'ow' before pulling his finger back and instinctively popping it into his mouth to soothe pain. "Mhit mit me..." Said with his finger sitll in his mouth. Ah his first magic backlash. Though he didn't know that.

"I want to learn from the funny guy who doesn't do splashy stuff. Like you Daddy. Can I please?" He tugged on his father's braid again. "Mr. Malik says I can learn to control my magic and so do you and the funny guy will help me do and teach me really neat stuff. Plus I promise to be really careful and not hurt anybody. Daddy please?" Big purple eyes and pouting lip. Lethal combination that worked every time.

"that's alright. you overextended yourself."

Giving his son a hug.

"but you did really good. got half of it on your first try. It might feel funny, but that's becuase your body isn't used to it yet. once it gets usued to you using magic, it'll go away. but for now you have to be careful and you're going to get backlash."

Well that was a big word wasn't it? Yes but he knew what it meant, meant he was bodily tired. And thusly he leaned back against his father, snuggling into him some as he pulled his finger from his mouth and wiped it on his vest. Giving a big smile. He always happy when daddy was proud of him. "Then I can do stuffs liek you and mommy."

"We'll talk to Malik about it. Shall we then?" That look given to Piper and at her nod, he let her pass and he followed, both heading downstairs and to the kitchen where Malik and his son was. Malik was rather laid back today wasn't he? Hadn't even gotten dressed yet. "So, my son is eager for my answer on leaning magic." Turning said child upside down in his hold just for the fun of it and for whatever reason he liked it.

She rubbed at the back of her neck, pulling at her collar a moment as she retook her seat at the table, turning her look on her son and husband with a smile. She knew those looks. Someone was proud of someone else and that someone was basking in that.

A look over at Sevilin, and a slight grin.

"Ah that. Yes your son wants to learn from my gnomish conjeror, and my son from my tier'dal illusionist. I told him I'd have them start as soon as both teachers had time to prepare some preliminary lessons and with your say so. I'm sure you heard about your son's episode today as well. no harm done."

and a nod over to his wife.

"things have been fine. we got a visit from Warren and Eliot. apparently for some reason Warren thought it needed to check up on our children. He claims there's no particular reason, but seeing as he's basically the avatar of the earth father, I suspect there's more to it than that. Might want to keep your eyes open for anything unusual."

He giggled and squealed quite happily as he frantically grabbed for the little things that fell out of his pockets. A rock. Another dead bug. A string he found lying around and a piece of a cookie. "Daddy!" His braid was hanging upside down and he waved to Malikhai from his position, shoving his shirt back up as it revealed his tummy.

"Nothing unusual comes within a mile of me if I can prevent it." Though his attention diverted to his son a moment as the contents of the boys pockets decided to take leave of his person. Sevilin was going to have to start checking those things. Though he didn't right the boy just yet and he turned his attention back to Malik.

He wanted to say no, only because he was cautious. But the pouty lip, big eyes thing of early was burned into his head. "I suppose it's okay...long as nothing too stressing is going to be included. And we have to get a rein on his magic first before he can do any of it." There he said yes...he'd kick himself for it later...

Piper raised an eyebrow at pocket junk. Oh gods...she was making a joke about them keeping stuff in thier pockets...and it was true. Hm...maybe she'd just keep pockets out of Malikhai's clothes from now on. And she did have Malik a smile, even if she was feeling a little crudy. It would do her no good to dwell on it and try to fight a battle that she was never going to win anyway. So then a look to Malikhai who was quite comfortable, but giggling at his friend.

"Part of the teaching method is first mastering your own power. Malikhai's power is probably stronger than your son over time...but your son has a far, far quicker and easier access to it. But we'll get it done. my primary concern is you knowing what your son wants to learn to do. Conjuration is the creation and control of elemental servants, creating food and water, summoning armor and weapons, which are usually used to equip thier pets."

"they also learn your powerful and basic elemental attacks. fire and ice..some arcane, like spectral chains to immobilize enemies."

Aella walked into the training room, seeing Zell and Mik chatting. She came and stood infront of them, so they would know she was there. Her staff at one side, her hadn on her hip. SHe didn't look happy, but she didn't look angry, either.

"You guys want to tell me what's going on?"

Bode cried for a while until she notice Onyx in front of her. She stopped and stared at him with large, wet eyes. She didn't say anything, because she was still a kid and didn't initiate that kind of thing. She simply stared at him, hardley even blinking.

"you shouldn't have had to see that. And it's not something I want you to ever have to see again. Is there anything I can do to make it better? And you wouldn't happen to know where you can find candied apples, would you?"

"Let's not point fingers over who's better than who, shall we?" Last thing he wanted his son involved in right now was a 'I'm better than you' contest with another toddler...or anyone else he came across and wanted to brag to and they took him up on it. Down here it didn't matter if you were a child or not after all.

But he gave a nod, at least the boy had picked the nifty useful class of magic, and not some frivilous flashy thing that was only good to distract or maim with intense concentrated power. "And how many hours a day do you plan to put them through these little classes?" Righting his son in his hold then...couldn't dangle him upside down too long no matter how much he giggle about it, he'd loose his breakfast.

"It's not a who's better than who. it's an accident's happen warning. Your son has episodes, but does little more than throw things or shatter glass. I'm more concerned about Zykariel shoing Malikhai again, and Malikhai's rebuttle being a fireball."

A small grin.

"Probably two or three hours at first. nothing overly strenous, let them learn control first before they start in on anyithng rough or requiring longer time periods."

"Yes well that would be a concern now wouldn't it?" One would shove, the ohther fling magic then the first one would fling more magic back and Malik was rather right, it was an acccidents happen warning. Though he knew a little shoving wasn't something to be worried about, the worry part came in when that shoving was combined with magic.

A look to nowhere in particular as he ran numbers through his head. Of course that amount of time was nothing to him. He could recall, even if he didn't like to, holding similar hours when he was a child. "And watch the bribing...can't have them weaseling breaks or what not from whomever."These two were well known to get what they wanted.

And he piped up of course. "I wouldn't throw a fireball at Zykariel, that's just mean daddy. He's not fireproof." Yes they hadn't even had to learn the 'fire hot' lesson the hard way. Malikhai had already known before he was born. It was one of those essential knowledge things.

Piper raised an eyebrow and looked at Malik with that look that she often had when she thought he said something stupid and or condisered wrong. "Two or three hours? You expect toddlers to more or less train for two or three hours straight, not be fussy about it, pay attention, not cry about not wanting to do it for so long, and be pleasant the rest of the day after?"
PostPosted: Wed Nov 08, 2006 1:59 pm

"Oh come now Piper. two or three hours isn't long at all between two friends learning new and exciting things. not to mention being that they are learning two different styles, I imagine they'll probably spend time after that comparing notes."

A small grin.

"Not all of us were trained strictly by mother and father's command in magic they felt appropriate. in Neriak..we trained for much longer times. and from it, spawned rivalries, alliances, and friendly competitions as well. or at least as friendly as it got."

A shrug.

"We'll get to work as it needs to. and as for breaks..let them try. the gnome will love it, and give Zykariel his 'break' by making him a tinkering assistant. my illusionist will probably just mezmerize him for some time and call that his break."

a chuckle. yes he was exagerating..or he'd better been.

"Things should work out well, I'm sure."

"Don't you 'come now Piper' me in that smooth tone of yours." Shaking her head lightly as he poked about how magic had been learned. Okay so yes, she had learned her magic almost strictly from her parents, but that didn't mean anything. "Three year olds don't compare notes...they excitedly babble over top of each other about things." No, she wasn't so sure it was going to fly...she could barely get the boy to sit down and do his regular learning. "So then, two or three hours of 'magic play' in thier eyes, and then sit down and do an hour or three of his regular studies? I see conflict between that and whining." And also that look of 'she better not do any such thing to my son, or there will be trouble.

Of course Sevilin wasn't going to be any help to Piper's argument. Hell, he didn't get indulged in more formal intellectual educations, he barely got to be able to get that reading and writing allowence for himself. His years were indeed spent in combat and magic training...and of course those runes on the side.

"Tinkering..." He rolled that around in his head a bit. Hell he saw no problem with it...Zykariel did have a tendency to either build something out of what was around him at the time, or take something apart, whatever he felt was best at the time. "Seems reasonable to me."
