CrazyRob Queen of the Blue Twins Hey Rob! I see I missed Eiyma and Chibi Hiei again..... boooo for bad timing. Night getting any better, you mentioned it was a bit crazy tonight? *waves* Yeah, things are settling down a bit, but I sort of expect it to pick up again later. How are you and kingy and the kids? Good. Oldest turned 18 finally. Wasn't sure I'd be able to resist killing him before it happened. confused

I'm at work, but I'll check it out around like 6am or so. whee Do the comments have to be on YouTube? *doesn't have a YouTube account* What do you mean by "flogging?" There's a few definitions of it... redface

CrazyRob Does that mean he's out of the house now? No, but on the up side, he finally got his grades in the A-B range so I guess we're making progress. Now if I could get him to shut up occassionally the attitude would become bearable. xp

Since grades and flogging were mentioned...
A hispanic man in South Florida was charged with child abuse after giving his 8 year old son a spanking with a belt because the kid came home with rather deplorable grades. The kid had red marks and a couple bruises on his buttox and thigh areas.
What say you to this?
Me - I wouldn't discipline my child in such a way for grades unless his grades were in direct correlation to his behavior towards school(such as getting into trouble, slacking off, etc.). I say the butt is made to be a place for discipline and a belt, hand, or paddle(with holes in it, muahahaha). It's soft and squishy for a reason.

Rob, go read the Ask the Admins thread in Gaia Community Discussion.
There are now over 90 people employed by GaiaOnline. Average salary in San Jose is 40k-50k annual. That's not even taking into account having to pay for a CEO, or all the developers which definitely get more than that - especially in an area where plenty of .coms would be happy to have people like ours. At last count there are over 300 servers, which must be maintained as well as bandwidth costs for 100k users. That's not even including the cost of r & d for future features.
Now. How are the admins money hungry? neutral
I'd MUCH rather pay the admins for Gaia items than wade through 100 ads for other sites and services.

I totally agreee, but with all those fires near Simi Valley don't be suprised if Gaia gets interrupted occasionally.

I say the butt is made to be a place for discipline and a belt, hand, or paddle(with holes in it, muahahaha). It's soft and squishy for a reason. A good controlled spanking with a belt never hurt anyone occassionally. I sure got my share as a child, every one warranted and every one remembered as a great deterant for the next stupid thing I considered doing. I personally don't use a belt on my children because I'm afraid of my temper. If I get mad enough at my children to use a belt on them I'm pretty pissed off and slightly out of control myself so I yell ALOT, walk away, regroup and come back later for a real discussion and punishment dispensing. King does the paddling if needed and usually they lose activities and get extra homework or something. Losing the internet is amazingly effective on my kids. But I have to say with the exception of being a bit mouthy sometimes and this last incident with my oldest (that I don't discuss) I have only had to use spanking maybe 4 or 5 times on any child - I really am lucky to have amazingly good kids. Frustrating but good.
