Katie, that is a lot of people in one class. You couldn't have possibly known everyone could you?? I there are about 85 in my class, give or take a few, and everyone knows everyone. That can be good and it can be bad too. Its good because at like a class reunion you can see the changes in everyone a lot easier than you can in a group of 500. It is also bad simply because everyone knows what everyone else does. People in my class also avoid except my few friends. They do it because no of them would dare be caught hanging out with "the fat girl" but I don't mind either.

""kiss the ground you walked on because you were 'pretty' or 'popular' "" - 90% of my grade is that way.

Okay, I am done being mad at my class, how is everyone?? There haven't been very many people around the last couple of days, but I assume that everyone is busy!

No Gerp, I only knew about 200 people by face recognition and 50 by name. And yes it was a lot of people. There were 1564 students in my school, my last year, and it was BIG, not as big as some other schools I visited on band trips, but it was BIG.

And I think people are busy with school and getting to know their school friends again. So it will be slow for a time. Other then that I'm dandy.

Sorry for interrupting the conversation, but I just wanted to stick by and tell everyone that I'm back from the vacation now. I've been in Egypt for about two-three weeks now and it was amazing! Seeing how I love history and hope to build a career around it, it was fantastic to finally get to see the pyramids and visit the Cairo Museum. I even saw the mummy of Ramesses II! biggrin

I would if I went to Egypt. Haha, maybe I should go to Egypt now.

Sorry I dissapeared, I'm trying to get used to going to my dad's (which has no internet except the library) every other weekend.

I don't know how big my school is, but here in Utah we call it a 5A school which means it's one of the biggest in the district. I don't know near to everybody in my class. I still say my class because I'm the class of 2009 but I'm at Southern Utah University. That's actually why I disapeared. I spent Monday packing, Tuesday I drove the 4 hours to the university and spent the afternoon settling in, then yesterday they had me attend this 8 hour orientation since I'm a new freshman, and when I got to my dorm I found that the internet was down for my entire apartment complex. It sucks. I'm on the library comp right now just unwinding because I'm still doing welcome week but I don't think I can listen to another 3 hour speach any time soon. Although I have to do it now. Just shoot me now. Katie, Ashley, how do you do it? How do you survive this college life? I feel like every muscle in my body is screaming in pain. I got here Tuesday, and it's Thursday.

Honestly sometimes you just have to sit and bear it, or let your A.D.D. kick in and let your mind wander, for the speeches. xd I have heard the two hour welcome to this class in college speech so many times, I know when to tune them out and when they are actually at a part I should listen. Just keep up with the syllabus if they give you those. The school policy is a snooze time, skip that up, and after how the teacher grades the class. Kind of listen to this. Once and awhile you get the odd teacher out who grades differently. Then what the class is about and what you'll be doing, heads up this is the important stuff. Oh and if they make you have a class partner for anything, I don't care how cute the guy is sitting behind you, pick the person who is there because they have chosen to go back to school. They rarely blow off school work, and projects, and sometimes they are pretty world wise. If your partner isn't pulling their weight inform the teacher. An employer, when told someone is slacking will not hold you responsible for their work. Make sure you make it clear what you were doing and what they were doing. If the teacher still wants you to do it all, take it to the deans, or councilors. NEVER let your grade suffer because of someone else.

Also Monster will be your BEST friend, and pain reliever. If you have to choose between sleep and partying, take the sleep. Set up a study area and schedules. Study area is study area, nothing else should go on there. So when you sit down you and your body and brain know it is time you do the sponge act. And sleep time is sleep time, two hour study time is two hour study time(Three hours at most, after that you start losing the ability to remember), and fun time is fun time. Your body will get used to it. Also don't cram. Get a big poster board or white board and make notes. What test is when, how many chapters, what you have to read, and when things are due. Start studying for tests as soon as possible. Two chapters a week is good when studying for a test. Three weeks before mid-terms or finals start studying. Also, eat healthy. If you can't afford good food, buy a health supplement. You'll be healthier and feel better. I've meet people who got scurvy because they didn't know ramen didn't have vitamin C. Ramen is empty calories and isn't healthy. It's that way with cheap foods. Last but not least, stay safe.

If you have a night class, get there early enough to get a parking space close to the building and is well lit, or if you are in a dorm and walking, stay on the cement in well lit areas. Never take short cuts that are dark, if someone comes at you asking for help or something else, tell them where the campus security is and that they will help them. Carry mace. They sell little keyring bottles. Buy a keyring whistle and always let someone know where you are going and when you left and what time you should be back. Not just for classes but for going out to. If no one is around, write down on a note where someone can find it, the information. Call if you are going to be late and tell them or the answering machine why. I don't live in a bad area, and I don't want to scare you, but there are all kinds on my campus, and situation have, can and do happen. If anything were to happen this information is a huge help, and there is a better chance of someone finding you.

I hope this helped. If you feel over loaded, drop a class, having an extra year is better then stressing out and getting ill. Talk to a council if you need to, there is no shame in looking for help. Same for tutors. No shame in needing help. Make friends if you can with your teachers. Ask if they have seen what you are currently studying in the field and how the situation went. If they ask what the relevance would be, state that a book is a book, but real world experience is better. Not everything goes by the book. Oh and ask questions. You are paying them for their time, and if they play high and mighty remind them that without you and the others, they would be unemployed or still in the field and if they preferred the field, why are they there?

If you need help with a problem, I'll be glad to offer advice. You may not like it but I'll tell you like it is.

Thanks Katie. I've been so stressed out because I'm the sixth of 8 children and I'm the first to go through college and unless my sister gets up the courage to try I'll be the last. I'm in a small town and I have to ride my bike. I also signed up for ROTC so I think Pain is something my body is going to have to get used to, but I'm doing it all so I can get stronger. I was climbing a rock wall today and for about an hour my hands were shaking so hard that it hurt to type. I just went out and got a flasher for my bike so I could be seen easier and I have all my roommates cell numbers programmed into my phone. I'm taking 15 credits this semester, and next I plan to go the full 18. I know it might be suicidal, but I think I can handle it.

Thanks for the tips though Katie. They really helped. What did you mean by monster? Is that those energy drinks because I don't believe in those. I have these vitamin c packets I can take that will keep me going long enough to get rest. It's those emergence-c things and they work really well. Their also packed full of vitamin c. I'll have to pass on the ramen thing to the boys upstairs. I heard all they are living on is coco puffs, eggs, and ramen. Though one of them made us pancakes this morning so that can't be totally true. I just found out my dad is taking me off my meal plan so I have to beg my roommate for a ride to the grocery store so I can go get more food since what I got last night is not enough to last without a meal plan.

Wow. That is a lot. Your body will get used to the exercise in a month or so. Monster is a brand of energy drink, and I agree they are bad for you, I prefer the vitamin water like you. And yes diffidently tell them about that even if they just brag about it and not do it, it spreads the wisdom. I hope you get a ride. I have a 7 elven and a A&P grocery store around the corner. Along with a strip mall full of take out. I love egg rolls. mrgreen

Hey everyone!! I just wanted everyone to know that I am now officially A SENIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL. I am really excited about this. This morning was our first day of school and we had our senior parade. I live in a very small town and there is about 300 people in my school. We paraded around our town for about 15 minutes. Honking horns, yelling... And then we got to school and we stormed the 3 halls in our school and threw conffetti and screamed at the top of our lungs. I think I STILL have conffetti in my hair because one of my classmates dumped like handfulls of it on my head XD. We also wore our senior shirts which say "Our boys are hot, our girls are fine... .... we are the class of 2009".

Does anyone have anything that they do like that for their senior year or is our school just weird like that? And do/did you guys get senior shirts??

The Seniors didn't do anything special like a parade or anything...I don't think, but we did get class shirts. I think it said something like "Big burly
guys, cute little chicks we're the class of 2006" or something of that sort.
(I wasn't the biggest supporter of my school.)

We had about 400 people in my graduating class and roughly 2011 students or so in the school...We were over populated by about 1011 students when I was there. We got students from...6 or 7 elementries in the area each year, and when I was there we were the only Highschool in the area.

Hehe, take a deep breath and calm down. It really settles down after the first week or two, then you get into the routine. It gets so much better after then. You make friends and just start to have fun. Keep in mind that I am in a Community College at the moment, it is quite small and not so uptight or anything. I still live at home and all that as well. Though this semester I am taking like 19 credit hours (That is the most they will allow me to take.) so that should be a nice big helping of stress there, so I guess I will be trying to convince you next semester not to take so many credit hours. (I have to take so many since next semester I have to go to the main campus of my college and it is 45 minutes away so I have to cram all the classes I need to take there into a day or two so this semester I am taking all I can here. I also have to do my student teaching next semester as well. x_x). Next year I get to go through what you are going though though. So you will have to tell me how to get through it next year when I am so stressed out. <3

Alright cool. Yeah I was taking some classes at the community college near my home. The most they would let me take was 9 credits because it was concurrent enrollment. As far as the credits go, my dad will probably force me into 18 credits. 18 is the most they will let us take and this semester I'm taking 15. I have to take at least 12 to stay on campus housing.

Here are a few of the long waited pictures from Germany. I don't want to overload you with pics on here but here are 4 to prove that I actually went to Germany!! I post more later on deviantart!

User Image - Here is a shot from the plane. I always got the window seat right on the wing.
User Image - This is the Köln Dom (a famous church). We climbed to the top of it. (500+ stairs)
User Image - This is an old castle that looks cool. There are a lot of them in Germany.
User Image - This is the entrance to the Concentration Camp at Dachau. This camp was used for medical experiments on humans.

Sorry the pictures are so big, photobucket wasn't working properly for me.
