Haucon pulled up short when he heard Leila say in a whimper "Can't we wait for them..." He swung back and scooped her up in his arms, he felt foolish enough already, he doubted he could make it worse. He held her bridal style and rubbed her nose with his briefly. "Oh geez. I'm sorry, love." he whispered. "I'm a little tense, I forgot you're hurt." he said sheepishly. "How are you? Does is hurt much?" he added anxiously. "I wish I could help..." he said trailing off. They were much closer to the others now.

"Not..hurt..." she panted, "just...tired..." Leila looked up at him with an embarrassed smile, wrapping her arms around his neck. "And you've helped enough already. I just need a nap..." She closed her eyes and rested her head against his shoulder, close enough to sleep already...

(GAh!!! Sorry! I had to work... sweatdrop )

Smiling, she looked at the three of them, her deep blue eyes glowing with happiness. "Thank-you very much! And my name is Kihaku." Tugging slightly on the end of a peice of hair, she looked at the boy who was holding the cat. "What's your name?"

Dream smiled, but did not respond with his name. He would, of course, just that he was not being talked to at the monet. Hopefully Liam would act friendly enough to her; he was not yet sure how he would act among others, but he expected that he would do fine, even if he stayed a bit quiet.

Liam was preoccupied with the cat, and when the Kihaku addressed him his head shot up. He looked at Dream before saying anything, and saw the look on his face pushing him to tell her. He turned back to the girl, "My name is Liam," he said quietly in a polit emanner.

Haucon nodded to Leila. "I'll talk to the others..." he whispered but just as he said it he realized that her weight had changed, shifting to be slightly heavier. He glanced down at her and realized that if she wasn't already asleep, she was so close it didn't matter. He chuckled to himself and continued to carry her toward the others.

He arrived and nodded to Dream in greeting, turning and trying to do the same to Liam. It felt awkward, but not terribly. Maybe it's not what I think...he thought to himself glancing down at the probably slumbering form in his arms. "Hi. Name's Haucon." he said turning to the newest member of the group. "I'd shake hands with you, but they're both a wee bit preoccupied." he said with a smile.

Dream laughed. "Yeah, just a bit. We'll probably have to find somewhere for the night soon." He looked at the new girl again, his eyes as pure blue as hers, in a lighter shade. "And I'm Dream. Pleasure to meet you, Kihaku."

Kihaku grinned again, before nodding when they introduced themselves. "I'm pleased to meet you guys! Hopefully I won't get in the way too much..." she said, tugging on her hair again.

Leila could hear everything around her but couldn't summon up enough energy to open her eyes or even respond. She heard a new voice, recognizing it as female but knowing nothing else. She could also hear the slight purring of a cat, and it caused her to relax even more unril she was fast asleep.

Haucon felt Leila's weight shift again, and he finally understood the term "dead weight". She was surprisingly heavy asleep for someone so small and delicate it their waking state. He gently shifted her so she was more upright and so her weight was resting more on his hips than just his arms. If I wouldn't crush my wings, I'd let her sleep piggy-back style. he thought momentarily, but pushed the thought away again.

He glanced side-long at Liam, and kicked himself inside. Why did he question her when she was so tired? Why couldn't he have let her relax and waited? Ah well, no taking it back now, he'd have to deal with it. He tried to think back to why he felt so jealous earlier. Leila hadn't done anything wrong, she'd just been too nice, too outgoing. But wasn't that what made him love her? He thought, choosing to use that word, because by now he was sure that's what this was, even if he couldn't bring himself to say it aloud.

Sighing quietly to himself, he turned to the more immediate issue. His arms were getting a little tired, but he didn't want to set Leila down. He looked at Dream and raised an eyebrow, indicating that wherever they were going they should get there soon. A quick glance skyward assured him that Violet and other demons weren't nearby too.

Dream caught Haucon's glance and nodded. He was right, they should probably leave soon for somewhere. Leila had already fallen asleap, and it wouldn't be long before everyone else got tired too. He had no idea where he could find somewhere, though, and from what he knew about the others here, they wouldn't know either... except perhaps Leila, who was already asleap. Then again... perhaps Kihaku knew of somewhere. She was the only human in this group (at least, he thought she was human, you can never be sure), so she might know the area a bit. Sure, she was lost, but maybe she saw somewhere along the way.

He turned back to Kihaku, smiling. "You won't get in the way. Don't worry." He paused a moment, wondering how he should word his question. "Say, you don't know of anyplace around here we all might be able to stay for the night, do you? I mean like a hotel, some empty house, anything at all?"

Haucon smiled at Dream and the newcomer. "There's always my apartment..." he said quietly. "I've been stuck here for the last month or so, so I got a place to stay. It's not big, but I'm pretty sure we'll all fit..." he said looking around and counting in his head. He shifted Leila's weight so it'd be easier to carry. "It's not far either I don't think." he said, trying to calculate how far from the beach they'd come. "Maybe three blocks up." he said jerking his head in the direction, "And two blocks left...If you are all game. We can dig up some food there too." he added as his stomach growled in protest. ((hope this is ok? I can change it if it isn't))"C'mon." he said and started walking toward the edge of the alley. As he reached the edge he realized how strange it'd look to a human to see a young man carrying a young woman, who for all intents and purposes was inappropriately clad. He concentrated for a moment, and after some muttering in Fairish, he felt the illusion fall in place around him and Leila. They'd look like Haucon carrying a large bag of groceries to anyone human.

((Yup. It's perfect.))

Dream nodded. The illusion had worked perfectly. If he hadn't known that he had made it, he would have sworn that Haucon had just gone shopping, and had absolutely no relations with Leila. But that wasn't as important as the fact that Haucon had a place to stay. "Perfect." He smiled. "I'm sure it's fine." He began to walk in his direction, and waited for the others.

Haucon led the way toward his apartment. He was right, it really wasn't very far, and within five blocks he turned up the stoop, and after shifting Leila once more, dug in his pocket for his key. Once the door was open to the building he led the others in and up two flights of stairs. He stopped at a door labeled 3C, and after turning the key again, he placed his palm flat on the door, muttered something in Fairish, and gave a small push. A tremor radiated out from his hand, like a ripple across a still pond, and the door shivered then slid open. Haucon laughed and shook his head. "It's all so dramatic here!" he said leading the way into the apartment. "Where I come from the buildings are used to magic, and don't fight it so much!" he explained. "But anyway...This is it." he said disappearing through a door.

The apartment was indeed very small. To the right from the door there was a counter built out from the wall, forming a partitioned kitchen area. In the kitchen there was a small stove, a refrigerator, a sink, and a few cupboards. Through the kitchen was a small bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet. The apartment was generally small and clean (while not tidy). After entering through the door directly in one's vision was the door to Haucon's bedroom. Haucon's room was tiny with dark blue walls. The bed took up most of the floor space. Various articles of clothing littered the floor, and a few empty cans of spray paint lay in the corner gathering dust. On the wall closest Haucon's bedroom was a large poster of the subway route, and beside it a hand drawn map, paralleling the train route. This poster was covered in a strange geometric script. A large window led to a fire-escape and was to the left from the main door. The view overlooked the back alley of the building.

Haucon took Leila straight through to his bed, which was simply a double mattress on the floor, and after tucking her in, kissed her forehead gently. He felt the urge to stay and watch her sleep but he was playing host and had other things to do. He grabbed a mass of blankets and pillows from his closet and after hitting the light in his room, he reappeared in the small living room closing the door softly behind him. "Sorry it's not exactly neat." he said apologetically to Dream, Liam, and Kihaku, stooping to pick up a dirty dish from the floor. "Er...Kihaku was it? You're welcome to share my room with Leila. There's only one bed, but it's double. Sorry. I figured Dream, Liam and I would sleep here in the living room." he explained dumping the blankets on the floor. "But if you guys want food first, there's a great take-out place just a block away, or we can try to make stuff out of whatever's in the fridge..."

( crying crying Sorry again! I keep having to work when tis my turn... sweatdrop )

Kihaku looked around the room with interest, curiosity getting the best of her as she began to walk around. Smiling softly, she walked over to the window and pushed it up, before moving out onto the fire-escape. Looking up past the buildings that surrounded them, her smile widened as she caught site of the moon. Grinning, she turned to look at Haucon. "I"ll sleep out here."
