User ImageMaji sighed, looking out to the land. They might have to fight, there was no hiding that dirty matter. He had been looked up to as a leader here, the lions depended on him to keep them safe and provide. Those that had come to him for permission to stay- would be granted that. Those that had come in of their own device... lioness, lion, and cub alike would be told to leave... or driven away. "They have no right here, Obi." He said carefully. "They come into these lands like parasites, taking what precious resources we have and thinning the herds of prey, clearing the rivers of the fish, and producing more and more cubs... they must be driven out. I've even heard rumor of a firekin male in these lands..."

He paused, an ear turning as the sound of two voices approached. His lips curled back into a snarl as the silver lion moved between his adopted son and the two approaching. "Who goes there? And what buisness do you have?"

Obi's ears flattened against his head as Maji spoke to him about these outsiders. No right to be here indeed... If Maji wanted it, Obi would fight for him no matter.
As he opened his mouth to say something obi called out to someone else. Quickly he looked over his shoulder to see who was there.

Tumai was more than a little shocked to hear Maji snarling, as he had never seen Maji get upset about anything before. He didn't let his shock show though, as he didn't want Aleu to be worried, so he continued to move forward with a smile on his face until he reached Maji. "It's only me, Tumai." He noticed the other lion behind Maji soon after spotting Maji. He hadn't met him before, so he gave a smile and a nod of acknowledgement, before turning back to Maji.

The beige lion had always been in awe of Maji, ever since he had first met him. That feeling had never really worn off, as even now, he found it difficult to not simply stare at the great Mistweaver, mouth agape. "I want to introduce you to someone." Saying that, he motioned for Aleu to come forward. His eyes gleamed with sudden pride and confidence. He was so sure that Maji would approve of her.

*Aleu was now very unsure of what was going on. Why did she feel such tension from the male that had spoken to Tumai? Was he upset about something too? With a soft sigh the lioness stood beside Tumai, her mate and eyed softly to the cave. She wouldn’t speak unless spoken to… that is what she had learned when with the Firekin. She should never speak to someone of upper class unless asked to other wise. Whatever was to come, Aleu felt off... as if she was no wanted; the tone is what pushed her to think so- she did not want to become a bother.*

“Tumai, maybe I should just go, I do not think this is a good time...?”

*With a lack of backbone the lioness eyed up at the large male and then back to the ground. What would she even say? She had forgotten all about joining a pride. She had never really been in a pride, other then being a slave within the Firekin lands… and in her point of view that was not really being in a pride, but kept without any regard to her feelings. With a soft smile Aleu did her best to keep together, she wanted more then anything to be with Tumai... she just had to be- he saved her. Her deep blue eyes moved from the ground to the cave as she awaited the next move. Whatever happen the lioness would be strong- she had to be.*

User ImageThe silver lion listened quietly as the male spoke, he reconized the young lion from an earlier time... he, at least, had had the decency to come to him and ask permission into his lands. A lioness was now being asked in with him. Maji considered quietly for a moment. It would likely mean cubs in the future. The lion looked mutely over the lands, frowning slightly. Already so many... too many had come in of their own accord without permission to use these lands as a breeding grounds. He didn't like it- but for the good of the pride they would have to be driven away... the rains hadn't fallen since they began coming. Perhaps the storm king was cross...

Clearing his throat he looked forward to the female as she moved forward, "Don't behave in such a fashion..." It was too simular to Itil, who now Maji wished he'd never accepted into the pride...such behavior was below a lion. "Stand straight, look me in the eye, stranger..." His voice was soft but had a tone of authority in it, not at all angry, he had a way of masking his emotions, "Speak your name and your purpose here..."

Obi nodded to the male lion, but opted not to speak. Quickly he corrected his own posture, sitting as straight as it would look proper. The smile had worn off of his face just before the visitors had arrived. It was replaced with a stern look.

*Aleu quickly stopped what she was doing and stood up right, facing the light coated male now. Her eyes seemed to roll over him, as if to study him. He so lovely, but... he seemed so upset. With a soft tone Aleu nodded and spoke, her words strong, yet very light.*

“My name is Aleu, and I am here because I would like to join your pride. I know… I know many must come to you like this… looking for land to use, but- I am assure you I am here for no such thing. I have just come from the Firekin lands… and I have seen what they do to others that are not born of pure blood I was a slave in that land, that Pride... I left- in hopes of finding a new life, you see… and I found Tumai along the way. He, he made my life meaningful again, and told me I could start over here, and I could make a life of my own. So here I stand…”

*Aleu stopped for a moment to retrace her thoughts before speaking again.*

“I have been a rouge all of my life, up until that point, and mind you I didn’t join that pride just for the hell of it… I joined to save my best friend, she was taken in as a salve... but now she is free along with her son- I got to them just in time and now they are happy within the pride lands… they have made a new life there.”

*Aleu nodded, before speaking again.*

“And I would like to start a new life here, if you will have me. I may not be so strong, but I can and will help out in any way possible. I would like to give back to this Pride; I would like to help… I am not here to use up your land or take away your game… yes, someday I would like cubs, but I would raze them to love this land, to want to protect this land... not to use it and leave. More then anything I want to be apart of something. I just need this chance.”

*The lioness felt so mush better, after saying all of that; it was like worry was lifted up off of her. Even if he rejected her she would still love her mate and she would still respect this male before her. She could see his wisdom within his eyes, and the grace he showed her when he spoke. She was done and would take anything this male said to her with a smile.*

“That is why I am here, and I thank you for your time.”

Tumai remained silent as Maji addressed Aleu. Something certainly seemed to be bothering him, but Tumai had no idea yet what it could be, so he simply allowed his gaze to move freely between the large Mistweaver he had come to respect, and the rogue he had come to love.

At first he was worried that Aleu would falter, perhaps due to the strange atmosphere that had been apparent as they entered the cave. He couldn't have been more wrong though, as she stated her purpose and lay out her whole life for Maji. They hadn't spoke in much detail about Aleu's life before the Firekins, so some of what she said was new to Tumai as well. All the time he kept looking from Aleu to Maji, and occasionally Obi, looking for any signs of a positive, or even a negative reaction.

When she had finished, he nuzzled her breifly but firmly, as if trying to reassure her, although he didn't think she would need any. Now all he wanted to hear was Maji's response, which hopefully would be a good one.

User ImageMaji was silent long beyond the young lioness' explanation, looking hard into her eyes and over her features, then to the ground. He drew in a large breath and walked back to where he had been before, looking out to the valley, "This place is a sacred one... the lions that once lived here possessed a superior knowledge beyond that of any of the outside prides, they were blessed with able paws and minds, able to write, read, create, and weave...the blood has grown thin, only a few bloods remain to this pride... and in that respect we appear weak." He took another long pause, his expression unreadable.

"Recently... lions from the outside have come into our lands and used it as a breeding grounds. They've deluded our resources, thinned the fish in the river and have driven the herds away. The rivers are growing dry, the food is scarce, and we grow weak." He frowned a bit, "There are a few things I must ask of you if you are to join us here.... I have trusted your mate and I will take his word as your own oath." He turned to them both, sitting himself down as regally as he could manage, "I am not the king here, many look to me because I alone have grown here my entire life, I remember the days of plenty.... I believe the storm king is angry at these lands for being tainted so... becoming no more than a breeding ground for non-believers and those not of the blood...."

He looked between them, "The first thing I must ask is that you do not create more young lives until the rains have returned. It would be unfair to us, to you, and to the cubs to be born in such a troubled time... there's little for them to eat, there's danger along the boarder, and we've already lost one cub to a cub-napper..." He sounded very serious about this, "I beg of you... this is very important. I believe this is the cause of the storm god's rage."

"Second... I ask that you help keep these lands pure. Any that are not in the pride must be driven away- cub or adult... male or female. We don't have enough to feed ourselves as it is, we cannot afford to have any more in these land and those that have trespassed have upset the rains..."

"Last... you must pull your weight. We need you to help hunt- and far from these borders to allow the herds to feel safe once more. They've been over-hunted by the invaders and have grown fearful, they may leave if they feel unsafe. It's hard work- but it will keep you strong. We have a patrol now, and the purpose it to keep our cubs and lands safe from enemies and invaders."

He sighed at last, "If you can agree to this, you have my permission to make these lands the start of your new life..."

*With a soft smile the lioness bowed her head in respect and nodded softly, as if to thank him and promise him both at the same that, that she would do her best to keep her word. Aleu wanted nothing more then to be apart of Tumai’s life, she could wait for offspring until the right time came. The brown lioness moved her sight back up and with soft words she spoke.*

“Thank you, Maji... Thank you."

*With that Aleu, full of glee jumped at Tumai with wide paws, and pounced upon him at him playfully. She was all to overwhelmed right now, all sated and content… all at the same time. Aleu had never been better. She was going to be able to start her life over here, with someone she loved, and on top of that she was loved too in return. Today was indeed a day to recall. Aleu’s deep eyes closed as she purred, acting as she were a cub herself again.*

Obi's ears lowered with every word that Maji spoke. He did not like the fact that outsiders were coming in without permission and stealing food and breeding uncontrollably.
Every word, though it was not for him, he listened to and took note. For the most part, he tried to make his keep here. He owed Maji his very life and wished to do every thing to repay him.

As soon as Maji had finished speaking and the other lioness turned toward her friend, Obi looked up to his father, but still opted not to speak.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 30, 2006 6:06 am

Tumai listened carefully to every single word that Maji spoke. He was already aware of others coming from the outside, but he had never thought to question their reasons for being here. He knew better now of course, because of what Maji was saying. Since he was born and raised at the bottom of the Ngorongoro Crater for half his life, he was used to not drinking and eating as much as a normal lion would, but his body had adapted to that. He knew he would always be able to cope, even if the rains didn't come for a very long time. So it would be his job to make sure that Aleu never went hungry or thirsty.

All that Maji said, Tumai would hold as law. All he wanted right now was for Aleu to be happy, and if that meant waiting before they made a family of their own, nd driving out strangers, then so be it. Aleu came first, and then the will of Maji, it was as simple as that.

"Thank you so much Maji, we'll not let you down." Soon after he said that, he was playfully tackled by Aleu, causing him to stumble at first before he regained his balance and reared up on to his back legs to wrap his two front legs around Aleu, grinning happily. "You have the most beautiful smile." He purred. "I never want to see it leave your face."

*With a soft purr the bleu eyed lioness grinned and nuzzled her neck along Tumai’s mane. Her heart-beat was fast, indicting the overwhelming emotions that she felt at this time. Aleu had never felt so pleased with herself, or her life, up until this point. She was going to start over here, and live happy and long, with Tumai. Maji, Aleu was thankful for him and his approval. She would keep to her word and not birth cubs until after the rains. She would do her part here, just as she promised. With a soft gaze Aleu moved herself back and stood before Tumai and the two other males, and with a soft bow smiled and spoke.*

"Thank you again."

*Pulling her neck back up Aleu turned to her mate, and with a tired gaze smiled, stilling purring softly. She felt like a kitten; swaying her tai from side to side the lioness moved her Tumai and licked at his maw, before moving away from him again, standing tall. She puffed out her chest a bit and yawned. Aleu was tired, and felt so very happy. What better feelings to have at a time like this? She would rest well tonight, that was a given. Today, over all was a good day, a day to remember. Once they steeled into his den, Aleu would tell Tumai everything, everything about herself, and her life- she would hide nothing from him, and inside she hoped that he would do the same. She wanted to be with this male, this feeling was meant to last.*

User ImageThe silver lion shook out his mane to draw the attention back to him. A bit sorry that he was spoiling a sentimental moment, but it was important they knew. "I do not make these commands lightly." He said in a strong, firm voice, almost growling, "If even one... just one of your promises is broken... the both of you will be driven from these lands. I do not make them for myeslf, I make them for the lions of this pride, the land itself, and for the great storm king who has been angered so.... you have heard my commands, made your promise, and heard my warning." He nodded towards the exit, "Now leave... I must meet with the officials of this pride."

He turned slowly to Obi, "Obi, my son, would you be so kind as to bring Enki, Ramses, and Kela here? There is much for us to discuss..."

Obi immediately looked at his father as he shook him mane. It was odd how such a simple movement could attract such powerful attention... Of curse Maji did have a really big fluffy mane so some of it was understandable.

"Yes sir." Obi nodded after Maji spoke to him.

Without wasting anymore time he was off, past the two other lions to retrieve the ones Maji had wished to see.
