Well put Yuri. Man was given the power of choice and the power of a massive brain. With that he begins to contemplate things and choose what he thinks is right or exists. He creates many things, like his own existance. Why was I made? Who made me? Why do I live? He then created religion to quiet his own feras of what lay beyond the grave. In other words, logically thinking, mans insecurities created god, not the other way around. But we still want god to exist in a way because many of us still carry the old fear of nothingness.

Ashram_VII TheMessiah but God didnt give it to us, in your book satan did ^_~ *spits out the words that you put in his mouth* Sorry, I'm allergic to bullshit. biggrin From God's hand grew 2 trees. from his left grew the tree of life, with the power of immortality. from his right grew the tree of wisdom, with the power of free will. these tree are the incarnate of God's will. when adam and eve were made he told them not to eat from either of the trees. God left, and a little snake came by and tricked Eve into eating it. she did and she gave it to Adam. and he ate it. thus the first sin was cast down. and God banished them from Eden forever. *ahem* dont talk bullshit to a man who knows more about the religion then most of those who follow it

Yuri_shoujo I think the only guideline is "If it do no harm to others or thyself, then you are free to do it" and what goes around comes around wink to ask anything more would be ridiculous, and a just god would know this. Can't argue much with that. (I can point at the Ten Commandments, which are very close to your one guideline, with the exception of a few others *such as "You shall have no other gods before me"*) The only question I would ask is: How would you know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that any of your actions would or would not hurt others or yourself in the present or the future? Since we cannot see the future, how can we know the long term consequences of our actions?

Yuri_shoujo Satan... pfff.... simply a solution for man to have something to blame his wrong doings on when there's no one else to turn to. Actulay whenever some end up with really good fortune such as winning the super bowl or getting the nobel peace prize you always hear them say "and I thank god" like he had some part but i have yet to hear a national football team blame the devil for their loss, as i see it god is just hogging the credit and the devil isnt getting any, pretty sad if you ask me. *Still commming up with the sybridXlang progeny*

the point is you cant, and never will. so worrying about such things wont get you anywhere.
aside from other details. in religion i keep one rule and one rule only. ALWAYS keep and open mind to a new thing. and do your best to not have your opinion swayed. beyond that, make the most of your life. live in the here and now, not 40 yrs ahead. although im not saying never think of the future

On the subject of religion, I have a few thigns to say. As has been stated before I don't believe or like highly upon organized religion, but I believe in faith and spirituality. Problem with it is that instead of being used as a positive moral guideline, people seem to take it too literally and will enforce their "truth" on other people, which I find highly innapropriate along with the "reasons" driving them to do so.
But as much as I think believing in and praying to God is silly, if it helps you get hrough hard times, like a death of a loved one or a critical illness, or even just gets you through day to day life, all teh power to ya. See like Asrham is Christian and I don't "hold it against him" so to speak, since he seems to be a very thoughtful and open-minded individual, and has a healthy sense of humor, so I take it he uses his faith to better himself and his relations with other people, which I think is a very good thing.
So while something like Christianity has brought out the worst in some people and has caused a lot of problems, it can be a good thing if it isn't misused.

What I mean by good Ashram as what seems least damaging at the time... perhaps you will be wrong, but if in your heart and mind you believed you were doing good, you weren't being evil. I know this, you know this, I think god knows this. and Ima-guy- I was thinking more along the lines of in their own mind when they're thinking "Why did I kill this person, the devil must of had me." That and I believe he's a device used by religion to scare you into 'needing' their help. Religion itself is useless, each person needs to believe things on their own, not be brainwashed.

He did not give the fruit to her and he did not force her to eat it. God made free will available, a gift, so to speak. (why is debatable...) Mankind took it for themselves, making it their curse. (since the consequence of eating the fruit was that they would die)
