I see, the woman nodded, studying the man's face. Is there something wrong with my son? Keiko folded her arms across her chest and shifted slightly. Is he acting out of line?

Marcus shook his head. "Not at all. We were just talking, and he told me past...er, stories. I don't think there's anything wrong, just normal...um, excuse the strange phrase, magical puberty," he finished, grinning emabarassedly.

Mmhmm, she replied, raising an eyebrow. What exactly has my son told you? The woman smoothed out the front of her dress, paying attention to it as if she was making sure everything was in place. Perhaps I don't understand what exactly I'm here for.

Markus sighed. "Kimura has told me he has the affinity for blowing things up? And destroying things in other ways? And this often leads to getting caught by the police? Am I correct here?"

The woman laughed softly, yet rather nervously at the same time. Oh dear, she began quietly. Perhaps my son is quite destructive; however, I'm not sure why he would share something like that with a stranger. Keiko looked to Markus and smiled warmly. And so what would you say on the matter?

Markus smiled back, relieved that the woman was taking this so well. "Well, from what I believe I've seen, I think Kimura may have powers of flame in him. Fire is bright and energetic, warm and inviting. However, if allowed out of control, it has a penchant for the ability to destroy things without meaning to, and the heat used to warm can turn into a scalding temperature that burns those things around it." Markus trailed off, hoping he had been able to get his point across.

This, I am fully aware of, the woman sighed. He must take after his father. I never use fire for anything. My son is perhaps a little too quick to use it, however. He's such a troublemaker. Keiko shook her head and bowed. Forgive me. Has he troubled you?

"Oh no, not at all. Kimura's got a very kind heart, I just don't think he quite knows what to do with himself. I've actually had quite a bit of experience with instructing teenagers on their powers. If you think it's a good idea, I'd be able to help Kimura in the afternoons," Markus offered, smiling.

That sounds like a lovely idea... however, I cannot pay you. Keiko blushed slightly and looked down. I've no money. I'm looking for a job currently, though. The woman fidgeted slightly, shifting her weight from one foot to the other.

Markus laughed lightly and waved his hand. "Please don't worry about that. I really don't want to be paid for this, anyway. It'll be my pleasure to do this. Shall we start tomorrow?" he inquired, smiling brightly.

You may start whenever you wish, she laughed. You're doing me the favor... However, I wouldn't expect too much from someone like Kimura, especially not anytime soon. Keiko paused for a moment, slightly tilting her head to the side before her eyes widened. Excuse me for a moment, the woman said before disappearing. Within a few seconds, she reappeared with Kimura, her hand gripping tightly to his forearm. So, Keiko went on nervously. When shall I bring him by? Unless... well, unless you have other plans for him? She wasn't sure what exactly she was suggesting, but Kimura didn't look very happy about being held the way he was. The boy just rolled his eyes and looked down to the floor.

"Don't worry, I have a lot of patience," laughed Markus. Confused, he then watched the woman suddenly disappear, then reappear with Kimura. "Um, 2 P.M. tomorrow would be good...er, I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean by "other plans." Markus shifted uncomfortably, sensing the woman had come to some secret conclusion.

Oh, nothing in particular. I wasn't quite sure what I meant by that, Keiko laughed softly. Could you point us in the direction of a... hotel or inn?

Markus laughed embarrassedly. "I wish I could, but I've only arrived here today, so I haven't seen any hotels yet. I wish I could help more on that situation, but if you talk to the landlady here, she might be able to work out a deal until you get a job," he offered.
