Shane plops his head back into the chair just as the floor beneath them starts to descend down a long stainless steel elevator shaft. The pain he feels is nearly blinding him. He can still feel his lower extremities, thank God, but even trying to wiggle his great toe hurts like hell.
Right when the lift finally stops, an emergency crew comes running up to the limo carrying a spine board, stretcher, and other extraction tools. Shane reaches into his breast pocket and pulls out a card, offering it to Lily.
"Go see this man. He will help you get your visions under control. Be sure to mind your thoughts around him though. He is telepathic as well as clairvoyant, but there is no one better here then him."
He is extracted and strapped to the board, then secured to the stretcher in turn. He cranes his eyes toward Daisy. "Ms. Sun, find me later. I'll tell you everything. In the meantime, please find my sister and tell her I'm okay. Her name is Gidget, she'll be in the R&D lab covered in machine grease. Please tell her before someone here does."
Shane Morris is rolled off to the surgery ward of the infirmary. He stairs up at the florescent lights as they fly past him. The emergency personnel are all talking their medical jargon. An IV stick here, twelve lead there. A few minutes later a mask is being placed over his face, and he is being asked to count backwards from one hundred.
By the time he reaches 94, he is dead to the world around him.

A young man approaches the Smiths with a broad and genuine smile on his face. "You ladies must be the Smiths. I'm Jason Ryan, head of lodging in Valhalla. Am I to understand that you will both be needing sleeping quarters until the Cortez threat is over?"

Lily clutched the card in her hand, wanting to smack Shane for telling her business out like that. Not only did Dasiy Sun have something else to add to her story, it was about Lily. Hopefully the news about her visions wouldn't be all that great to the reporter, or so she hoped. It wasn't that strange to hear of someone who has visions.
She sighed, watching as they rolled Shane off into the Surgery ward.. Winching at the thought he had to under go surgery. She shook it off and bowed her head in a silent fair well to the reporter. She was ready to be rid of her, and was sick of her snooping nose. So Lily had to get away from her as soon as possible, not ready to meet the man that Shane was now forcing her to see she walked down the hall and around a few corners, letting her feet do the walking as she lost herself in Valhalla.
After a good fifteen minutes of walking, she finally stopped and slid down the wall. Closing her eyes for what seemed like a few moments. The darkness that flooded her eyelids was more then welcoming. And unknowing to Lily she drifted to sleep in less then 30 seconds of her sitting down. It had been well over 24 hours now since she last slept, so her body had shut down as soon as Lily was slowed down enough for it too.
As she slept, she dreamed...
***
Lily was in a darken room, the only thing that was visible was three lights coming from the left, right and straight ahead of her. The lights seemed to be coming from under three doors, one red, one blue, and one white.
The girl began to make the terrifying trip through the dark to the doors, being afraid of the dark didn't help matters any. So, Lily made her way to the red door, unknowing why she choose the one with the Red light first. She creaked it open, taking a peek inside.
Inside the door was faces, horrible, twisted, disgruntled faces. The faces where not connected to anything but the wall, it was as if they had been peeled off and plastered like someone would wild game they collect. Only it wasn't the heads, just the faces. In the corner she heard a snicker, something she had heard before. Then a voice. "Hurry along little lass.." it said with a laugh.. Then followed by another voice she'd heard before. "Go home and Lock your door.." As quickly as she could she shut that door and took three steps back. Well, she knew what was behind the red door... Two more to go.
Lily walked over to the Blue door, opening it she saw that it opened to a field of wild flower and tall weeds. The wind met her as soon as the door opened, caressing her face with the sweet scents of Spring.
Lured into the atmosphere, she took a step out the door, keeping it open. Then, just as Alabaster deceived her, the field began to shift and shake. The ground below her quaking beneath her feet, it split and opened and up out of the ground exploded flames. She screamed, seeing the shackles erupting from what seemed to come out of no where, coming straight for her.
Without even thinking, she dashed back through the door and slammed it shut. Gasping for breath as she looked over to the final door... She was too afraid to walk across the room to open it. So far the first two doors had been bad... Surely there would be a light at the end of this tunnel..
***
The only thing that gave way to Lilys status was the soft breathing that erupted every so oftan as she slept, she was obvious to anything around her, sound, light, nothing seemed to phase her deep state of sleep.

Get up son. I don't remember you being so weak.. Blitz, or Jim Morrison, as was his real name, stirred a moment, driven by ghosts of his pasts, to stand, to fight. "Dad? Dad I..I'm sorry.." Sorry for what? Sorry you never said goodbye? Sorry you never could finish what you started? Blitz held his hands to his face, crying now, his dead father patting his back. It's alright son. It's alright to cry. But it's not alright to give up. These things happen. This world..It's in need of heroes. Blitz's father, a faded wraith of a man, pointed out to the blackness, toward a light. I've got to go son. I've got to return to your mother and brother. But you.. Blitz's father hugs him, kisses his forehead, ruffling his hair with his old rough hands, just like Jim remembers. You've got a world to save. --- Blitz coughs, kicking his feet suddenly, smoke rising from his lips as he violently hitches back and forth, suddenly gasping for air. Alive, not dead, Blitz clambers to his feet, feeling for his face, smelling the singed tips of his fingers and hair. Blitz wildly blinks, feeling weaker then usual, but still alive.. Smelling the air, the old scent of death, the call of Leviathan Cortez. Blitz rubs at his neck, looking onward. In the distance he can see Annie and Lev, two powers of tremendous proportion... With that, Blitz slowly begins to trudge forward, a limp in his injured step. If this day was to end with heroes, then by God he would be one of them.

Just as acid began to raise up like two giant snakes behind Leviathan, the man raised his hand, she was prepared for lightening, she wasn't quite prepared for what happened next. One second she was on her feet, the next she was knocked on the ground. She winced slightly in pain as she slowly pushed herself up from the ground.
So the man had another ability too. As she stood she realized, that it was precisely not what Leviathan Cortez had expected. He wasn't holding back, so that no doubt meant the damage to her was supposed to be a lot more than a few bruises. Under her breath she muttered, "Apparently this 'goop' of yours acts differently on each person who consumes it. Your offense got stronger, my defense did." She shrugged, and at that was when she let the acid columns twirling behind him fall on the man.
Her eyes were narrowed at him as she planned for her next defensive strategy if her attack failed, which considering Leviathan Cortez hadn't blinked an eye at the presence of acid rain, meant that there was a chance a hundred gallons of pure acid pouring on him, might not make much of a difference. 'Think, Annie... he controls electricity, so his powers are electric based...' Biting her lip she decided on her next move as she considered the extent of her own powers.

Rikki Tikki Travi A young man approaches the Smiths with a broad and genuine smile on his face. "You ladies must be the Smiths. I'm Jason Ryan, head of lodging in Valhalla. Am I to understand that you will both be needing sleeping quarters until the Cortez threat is over?"Mrs. Smith answers, "It's pleasure to meet you Jason. Yes, as well as my husband. He will be back in 3 days and if Cortez is still a threat then he may end up being the next target. Especially if he goes straight home from the airport. Also I'm not sure how he will take the driveway in the current state it is now." "Well he seemed to take the whole 'daughter got hit by a meteor and now looks completely different' " "True but he at least knew where it somewhat came from. Our driveway looks like it has been attacked. I'm sure he'd be very worried about us being alive than what you have become or perhaps in the process of becoming." Trinity quirked an eyebrow, that sounded like she knew something else about this that they have not yet told her. "What do you mean by that?" "I was referring to your training." "Oh." that pretty much ended that mystery for her. Mrs. Smith knew something else but felt her father would better explain it. "Yes, sorry Jason I guess we got off subject. As you were saying about our sleeping quarters?"

Jason clears his throat and looks down at his clipboard, "Well, under normal circumstances Trinity would be given the option of remaining at home. However, as things are now, it would probably be best for everyone if you two stayed here. When your husband comes home we can set him up as well. We have a few options available. We can either set you ladies up together in a two room suite, or you can both stay in separate quarters similar to motel rooms. Mr. Soichi asked that Trinity be housed close to him while they are still training, but we have both sorts of rooms in the same wing as he is in."

Daisy Sun felt exhausted as the emergency crew came to take care of Shane Morris. She quietly listened as he spoke to Lily about visions, which Daisy quietly noted in her head. Soon though her mental note taking was disturbed as he ordered her to go find his sister and tell her that Shane was okay. How in the world did that man consider himself okay?
Sighing she took his command and followed the signs to the R&D department lab. Opening the door she looked in amazement at the huge assortment of technology and parts spewed about. Letting the door close behind her she entered the rest of the way and called out, "Hello? Is there a Gidget here?"

If Trinity's power goes awry or if she were attacked her sensei would be able to aid her quickly. "I don't mind either way but I would prefer the two room suite idea. What do you think Trinity? It's up to you.". Mrs. Smith smiled knowing her daughter would do well in either scenario. Though she would admit that she would have preferred her daughter would leave the nest until at least after high school. Another thought crossed her mind, do they educate their meta-human subjects? Would Trinity be able to obtain a degree and continue on to college? She put her train of thought on hold for now as she awaits her daughter's decision. To anyone Trinity's age the answer would be so blatantly obvious "move out!" move away from naggy parents that treat you like a 5 year old and not listen to you. It didn't get like that for her family. Her mom has been the friend she'd go to for advice and felt she didn't have to hide from her. Trinity smiled back at her mom and was about to say two room suite. A thought crossed her mind what if something attacks and her parents were killed because of it. Her eyes lower, "Mom... as much as I want to go with your preference. I'm afraid it will put you at risk. I'm afraid the motel option is the better option..." she looks up to her mom knowing that this would sadden her a little. "I'm trying to look out for you as you have for me." Her mother smiled and nodded at her daughter's reasoning. "Very well then. Just promise me that we can at least catch up at dinner." Trinity nodded enthusiastically, "You got it!"

From behind a large pile of scrap metal and tools pops out a very dirty face wearing a set of welding goggles over her eyes. She cuts off the torch and lifts her goggles, revealing that she had to have been wearing them for a while considering how clean the area around her eyes are.
She smiles, her teeth a stark white in comparison to her dirty skin. She calls out in her usual fashion, "That's me. Hey I recognize you. You're Daisy Sun, the reporter. Shane must have finally contacted you to give you the scoop huh? Ah, that must mean he's back now!"
She takes off her gloves and climbs over the mountain she'd made for herself. She walks up to Daisy and looks up at her. "So where is that big dork? Did he send you here to interview me? Oh wow that'd be so cool! Want to see what I can do?" Her eyes are bright and inquisitive, she is smiling at Daisy the entire time she is gushing about being a celebrity.

Daisy Sun pinched the bridge of her nose upon seeing the girl, she was not exactly what she expected of Shane's sister. The reporter didn't know what she was expecting, but she wasn't expecting a dirty little girl. Sighing, the reporter replied coldly, "Quite frankly, Gidget, there are much more important news right now than whatever no doubt remarkable trick you are able to do."
Crossing her arms she said, "Your brother didn't contact me, I ran into him at the hospital when I was there for personal matters. Anyhow, he is back but he is unable to come down here at this moment, so he told me to come down here and tell you that he is okay."
She glanced away, still pinching the bridge of her nose. Though, she hadn't said a single untruth, she hated not being frank and completely open about things. But, it wasn't like she could tell this kid her beloved brother was injured and in surgery right now?

The smile from Gidget's face fades away slowly. He is okay. That was what he told her when he hurt his back the first time. It was a code. It was their personal code. If he were really okay he would have come down himself, or he would have asked Daisy to say "Everything's peachy."
Gidget's eyes start to water up a bit. She mutters, "That dummy...he got himself hurt again."
She takes out a small handkerchief and wipes her eyes before putting it back in her pocket. She huffs and looks back up at Daisy. "I'll go see him later. Could you please tell me what happened? Ah, y'know what, it doesn't matter." From what Mrs. Smith had said, the hospital was attacked by either Cortez or one of his goons. She bites her bottom lip, knowing now what it is she has to do in order to be able to be of any real use.
"Mrs. Sun, can I ask you for a small favor? I need a second set of hand for what I'm about to do."

Jason nods in approval. He reaches into his pocket and produces two card keys. "Very good then. Here are your keys. Also, I am guessing that you are still in school, right Trinity? Well if you are interested, since we're located directly under the University, we can have you attend some of the high school level classes. You see, we have people of all ages staying within these walls. They still have to get an education so they can one day leave and rejoin society. Why, we just had a little send off for a pyrokinetic who has been with us since he was eight. He's leaving for Yale to take his BAR exam tomorrow."

The Smiths took their key cards. Trinity's read 333. Her mother's read 324.
Trinity nodded as he asked about school. They were glad to hear about the schooling. Although it wasn't the first thing on her mind at the moment. "Wait a minute...was here since he was eight and now heading toward Yale? I thought this facility was meant for those that were affected by the meteor showers this year. Does this mean that previous meteor showers have been affecting people? If so many people were affected how did you manage to keep it under wraps for so long?"
Trying to calm Trinity's curiosity down a bit, "Trinity, although these are really good questions, Mr. Ryan may not be the man to ask such questions."

Lev looked up, almost passively, then disappeared in a surging wave of acid, seemingly immersed from head to toe. Then the acid would seem to begin to whirlwind, Lev suddenly straining, arms to his sides, the huge streams of acid slinging around him in two condescending rings, falling one over the other, Leviathan putting his hands into it, watching his own flesh fry and his fingers bubble and begin to turn bone white. It seemed the man was beyond pain, and his power over the gravitational forces around him was far more then simply immense. With a flick of his hand the water splashed in a crescendo to the concrete below his feet, melting a large portion of the top layer of the ground away with a sizzle. Lev grinned, beginning to step forward, only to have a pillar explode up and on top of him from behind. Debris and dust fired into the air, Blitz slowly walking forward, his hands together from his clap. "That'll teach you.." The pillar then shuddered, turned a cracked fissure red, then imploded, Leviathan steaming with anger, tearing his arms through the pure stone, madness on his demonic face. "Little man.." Lev whipped his hand backwards, sending Blitz spinning like a table top through the air, landing at least 12 feet away on his a**. Leviathan ran a cool hand through his hair, pulling a cigarette out. "You stand in my way, only to sacrifice your life..And for what?" Lev began clapping his hands, "Bravo though, bravo...Your quite the entertainment." Then Lev dropped his smile, and play time was officially over, his cigarette lighting, then burning all the way to the stub in a matter of seconds. --- Suddenly rising a good six feet off the ground, his clothes shuddering and his muscles taut, his flesh stretching, his veins popping up and pumping, synergy igniting and setting off miniature explosions around his palms and feet. Enormous bolts of lightning began to fall and lick the ground around in a quickly closing circle, the very heat from the heavy lightning causing the air currents to rise, tornado clouds beginning to form.. Lev was about to reveal his true power, and by God, someone needed to stop him.

Ryan chuckles a bit before answering. "It's alright Mrs. Smith, I know a few things about Valhalla. To answer your first question Trinity, yes. Meteors have been falling onto this planet for ages. Legends and tales of gods, demons, great beasts, and monsters are all tied to meteor exposure. Well, most of them anyway. Mr. Soichi and his sister, Freya, are exceptions to this notion. They gained their powers through supernatural means. So while most things can be explained by science, there is still much outside of the realm of our understanding."
"To answer your other question, Valhalla was built at the same time this university was. At first it was just made as a secretive method of studying meta-humans, but it eventually grew into what you see it today. A research and aid facility for people like yourself who are human's with a gift. We are funded by the government, established during World War Two, and this location is beyond top secret. We've kept it under wraps well enough, but with this most recent meteor shower...meta-humans are going to be thrown into the limelight."
He takes a deep breath and exhales, "I'm sure Shane Morris could tell you more. His family has been a central part of this facility since it's creation. Is there anything else I can do for either of you?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Teshoumaru faced off against the shapeshifting stranger. No blows had yet been exchanged, which is the way he prefers it. He pays very little mind to the exchange happening around him involving Annie, Cortez, and Blitz. That is until Cortez started to charge himself up. Teshoumaru spins around in the demon's direction. He begins to weigh his options.
Shadow spiral is out of the question, he isn't on the ground. Thrown weapons are no good due to the wind currents. He wont be able to get close enough for a melee strike. He only has one option left.
Knowing now that the girl Shane asked him to protect is safely far away now, he gives all of his attention to Leviathan. Needing to draw ki from the creature within him, his teeth and eyes take on a more lupine appearance. He slams both of his hands onto the ground with what little shadow there was available with the light show on display.
His shadow bends and twists, sliding up behind and over him. It flies at terminal velocity toward Leviathan. Seeming to have a life of their own, when it is struck by the lightning it divides itself. As shadows come within five feet of Leviathan they warp themselves into pikes, all aimed at his torso. Teshoumaru prays this will be enough to at least damage him. He has used up a good portion of his ki doing shadow travel, and this attack has almost everything he has left put into it.
