Emma removed both her hand and the temporary binding, and quickly took a seat at the bar.
Her legs would not support her for long, but she wasn't about to let anybody know that.
"Good to have you back."

Sensing that the potential danger had passed, Question entered the bar and sat down on a stool. "Coffee, please."

Zach's eyes flickered for a moment and then she fell to her knees.
"Oooh, my head," she put her hands to her temples and massaged them gently. "It hurts... and my wings... oh God, my wings."
She looked over her shoulder and saw the replacement wings Scribbler had provided for her. Her eyes widened with shock and fear.
"I've lost them," she said quietly. "I've lost my wings."

Emma could feel the emotion pouring off Zach, and knelt beside her. While she was not entirely sure what was going on, she could guess.
Her head swam for a moment, the effect of having moved too fast.

I will never let you fall... Lightning wandered inside, pondering what she should be for Halloween this year. Something good... something surprising. But what? She took a seat at the bar next to Question. "May I please have a cup of tea?" she asked the bartender.
"So, Question, what're you planning on being for Halloween?" ...I'll stand up with you forever.

Zach felt Emma next to her but didn't immediately acknowledge her. Her mind was nearly blank with the exception of a two sentences. Two facts kept repeating themselves in her mind.
I've lost my wings. I'm going to die.

Question shrugged. He hadn't really been a person to dress up for Halloween. As Richard Cordell, he had once dressed as Luigi. However, he didn't have any plans for dressing up this year. "Dunno."

"Not immediately, I should hope."
She realized that she had heard the thought, and that could only mean one thing; that it was strong enough, urgent enough to be heard without her willing it.
"Oh dear."

I will never let you fall... Lightning sighed. She had been looking forward to dressing up for Halloween, but if she was the only one thinking so... Were all of the other Domers too old for Halloween? It couldn't be that bad. "You're serious?" said Lightning, more like a statement than a question. "How could you possibly not dress up for Halloween? It's half the fun!" ...I'll stand up with you forever.

"Emma," Zach turned to face her and there was fear in her eyes. "I'm going to die. There's no coming back now. I lost my wings. I can't be reborn. I'm going to die."
Then Zach looked at the floor and laughed.
"Heh, I can't believe it," she said. "This is my last chance..."

Emma's eyes grew distant as she stared at Zach. Wizard's Sight flowed through her, and she blinked a few times to clear her vision. "Not necessarily."
She tapped her temple, trying to give Zach a bit of hope. "I can still See them."

((Honestly, I won't have a real costume unless my high-yield items in the marketplace sell soon))
"I wasn't aware that there was any fun to Halloween to begin with. The only time I can remember dressing up for Halloween was the year when zombies roamed the Earth. I dressed as Luigi and had a proton pack on my back, which ended up detonating and frying me alive." He sipped his coffee, ignoring the drama between Emma and Zach.

"Are... what're you talking about?"
Having never done any formal magic training, or learned special vision abilities, Zach had no clue how Emma was able to see something that wasn't there.

"The Sight. It's...oh bugger, very hard to define...but...seeing things as they are, I suppose. Not as they appear to be. The soul of your wings, the essence is still there."
Not a very good explanation, but the best she could come up with while she was running on a spark of magic and even less physical strength. The spell had taken everything she had gained back right back out of her.

"What?" Zach's expression changed from fear and depression to one of hope. She understood the concept of the soul. "You're serious? Ha, this is fantastic!"
She lifted Emma up off her seat and nearly crushed her in a hug.
"Wow, that's such a relief," Zach said and let Emma back down. "Thanks for that, Emma... I can't tell you how much hearing that means to me."
