((Tinker Gnomes were an element of steampunk./ Except that their stuff malfunctioned a lot. and they seemed to think that anything that worked well when done simply, worked better when made over-complicated. And with bells, whistles, and explodey parts.))

((Tinker gnomes also apply excedingly l;long names to everything. Actually, they're not so much "names" as we know them, as they are exacting descriptions. A tinker gnome is always increasing the length of his or her own name by the accomplishments they acquire in their life. Even the most trivial accomplishments . . . which they will naturally describe to be far more impressive than they are.))
