Gengar shot Ninetales a dirty look. "I don't think I'm of a better class than you all," he retorted, "I know that I am!" The fox laughed-- her voice seemed to echo and carry throughout the air. "Darling, you have no idea who you're dealing with. Don't you dare tell me that you are superior to any other Pokemon, when a simple bear can hurt you so badly. If anything, you are inferior." Gengar stared at his partner. "How dare you speak to me that way! You're no better yourself, you multi-tailed freak!"
No sooner had that sentence left the ghost's mouth was it that Ninetales trapped him in a Fire Spin that spiraled upwards to the heavens; she added fuel with a Flamethrower attack, causing the flames to lick at the air. It blazed magnificently with a red-orange hue for a few moments, before it contracted in size, completely encicrcling Gengar's body. By the time that the flames extinguished, Ninetales smirked, looking to her partner who lie on the ground unconscious. Then, she looked to her adversaries.
"Now that that annoyance is out of my way... It's time for me to fight you two."

As much as he hated to admit it, he did feel better. It was a huge weight coming off of his shoulders. He leaned back, hating that puffy, swollen-faced feeling after crying. "How did you do that?" he asked, closing his eyes for a moment, and trying to regain his usual cool demeanor. "I just told you that I don't cry, and yet, all you did was hug me..." he trailed off, realizing that Mike and a Breloom were standing right beside them. He chuckled, getting to his feet and brushing off his pants, holding a hand out for Kasiya. No one's ever been able to do that to me before. She manages to break down my defenses, just like that, almost everytime, he thought, completely ignorant of Portabello's ability to read minds. Is this what happens when you love someone like that? It's like a Brick Break to a Light Screen...

Kasiya just smiled, accepting his hand and getting to her feet. Her side was aching like crazy now, the forceful twinge of pain it sent through her midsection was almost debilitating. And that's my body kicking my own a** for not taking it easy and letting it heal, she thought, wiping the dirt from her knees. At least she knew how Koga's Muk felt after Casimir tore into it with his claws and razor-sharp horn. "How's it going, Mike?" she asked casually. "Did you manage to beat Koga too?" It was fairly obvious that she was trying to pretend like nothing happened, although the pained look on her friend's face told her he wouldn't forget that easily. "Matching Soul Badges. How cool is that?"

You humans and your inability to act always confuses me. Portabello said to Keegan, rolling his eyes. Well, Master wasn't much different, he had difficulties of his own courting that charming Gym Leader from your town. After his little enigmatic speech to the red headed boy, the Breloom sat down. I trust I am not to reveal your thoughts on Mistress Kasiya to her, am I right?
Mike snapped back from his little hypothetical nightmare of Nitro being taken away by the sound of his friend's troubled voice. "Uh, yeah! Yup, that's right." He said with a slight stammer. "We both do rock don't we?" After a cough, the boy regained his usual cheery exterior, giving a thumbs up to all three of his friends. He looked around, finally breaking the silence. "So Kasiya, Keegan," Mike began. "I was wondering...would either of you like to go with me to Hoenn? I heard Kilik's dad was an expert in fossil Pokemon and kinda wanted to see if I could snag an Omanyte." He looked hopefully at the two trainers. "Would you like to join me?"

((Hey hey my computer bombed out, taking everything with it. Ahaha. stare )) Keegan half-smiled at the Breloom. A mind-reader, eh? he chuckled, folding his arms over his chest. Fear not, noble Breloom, he thought-spoke to the fighter. I won't put myself through as much torment as your 'Master' did. And yes, it was as obvious as the mushroom cap atop your head how he felt about Flannery. I also know that I can't stop you from telling anyone, but I would prefer it if you kept this a secret for me, all right? He didn't think it was unreasonable to ask of Portabello, although he couldn't help but wonder how things would have turned out if he'd actually captured that Shroomish in the Petalburg Woods that day instead of that cheeky little Taillow.
He looked to Mike, realizing that his old friend was actually speaking. It seemed a little odd to him, though, that he'd be asking for him to accompany him on a fossil expedition. For a moment he did consider requesting a side trip to Lilycove in order to infiltrate the Naokumi residence and take back Helios by force, but he shoved the idea aside and nodded. "Sure, I'm game," he said finally. "Could be interesting."

Kasiya watched Keegan and Portabello for a moment. "Watch what you think around him, he can read minds," she giggled, patting the loveable Breloom on the cap.
"Fossils?" Kasiya asked, putting a finger to her lips thoughtfully. "Yea, I want to go too! Fossils are an interesting subject! And Omanyte are so cute," she added. "I've read about them, and I also know for a fact that they do fossil regeneration on Cinnabar Island. I'm sure they'd be able to regenerate any fossils we bring to them into living Pokemon."

Portabello feigned innocence as Kasiya gave him a pat. Oh yes, watch out for me, I'll rob you of your dreams. He snarled, making a semi frightening face at Keegan, or at least he attempted to. The sudden breach of the quiet Breloom's character was enough to make Mike chuckle. Yes, I'm evil, grrr. Looking back too Keegan, Portabello gave the boy a reassuring nod, speaking only to him. Worry not, I am good at secrets.
"Alright!" Mike cheered, glad his friends were on board. "If you guys want fossils there are three more for you to choose from, because...Omanyte's mine!" He glared expectingly at the other two, mostly for a laugh. "There is Kabuto, and Anorith, then Lileep." He listen the off with his fingers, recounting three after he finished talking. "Kilik lives in the little town of Verdanturf, a place me and Keegan have both been to I'm sure." He snatched a Pokeball from his strap, releasing Nitro. "Alright buddy, looks like we're flying to Hoenn once again today!" Nitro let out a happy snort, lowering his body so his trainer could climb on.
"So, who's riding with me?" The boy asked, crossing his arms.

Having thanked Portabello for his understanding, Keegan made a face at the mention of Verdanturf Town. "Ah, yes, Verdanturf. I once had to take a Wynaut egg all the way there from Lavaridge." He paused, remembering the scenery he'd witnessed while in the small town. "Let's see... lush green grass, fresh air, clear blue skies. Quite wretched when you're so used to the sulfuric aroma of a nearby volcano," he chuckled, certain Mike would agree. "Looks like I'll be riding with you, friend," he said, shrugging. "I lack both the proper badge and a Pokemon capable of carrying me anywhere." He watched Nitro for a moment, and grinned. "Say Nitro, gotten any better at those landings?" he asked coyly, recalling a rather spectacularly bad landing the duo had made in Lavender Town just before the festival.

"There could be more than one Omanyte fossil!" Kasiya retorted indignantly. She took her PokeDex out of her pocket, deciding to look up the other two. She knew both Omanyte and Kabuto already, but she wasn't quite sure about Lileep and Anorith. She frowned at the sight of Lileep. It was rather creepy-looking, all those tentacles and glaring eyes. She skipped ahead to Anorith, letting out a surprised cry. "It's so cute!" she practically screamed, hugging the PokeDex to her chest. "I want one!" As she looked at it though, she could swear the eight wings on either side of it looked rather familiar. Moving to the next entry, she let out another happy cry. "Anorith evolves into Armaldo!" she gushed, hopping up and down and being sure to show both Mike and Keegan the Pokemon she'd fought before. "I can have an adorable Armaldo of my very own!" She giggled insanely for a moment or two longer before putting the device away. "I can fly with Fang now," she said, nodding. "Although, I don't think he can go for very long distances. We'll have to make several stops along the way to get him healed up at Pokemon Centers."
With that, she released the larger-than ever Crobat, who seemed to have grown since the battle with Koga, if it was at all possible. Fang let out a happy screech, nudging his trainer with his head. "We're going to Hoenn," she told him fondly. "But don't worry, it won't be non-stop."

"Yuck." Mike stuck out his tongue at the mention of Verdanturf's atmosphere, mostly out of fun though, a change of scenery was never bad. Kasiya's antics always made him smile, and her adorable Pokemon fits were no exception. He laughed at Keegan's question, reassuring him there was nothing to be afraid of, most of the time. Helping his friend up, Mike brought up his map and surveyed the Johto area. "Let's stop in Goldenrod, it's the perfect mid-way point where we can stop." He looked back at Fang, who had most certainly grown. "Let's make this interesting..." He said under his breath, recalling Portabello.
"Hey Kassie!" He cried out behind him, tapping Nitro on the head. "Race you to Johto! Hold on Keegan!" The boy kicked his Pokemon's sides, and instantly Mike and Keegan were in the air. Nitro smirked as he saw his friend's shrink in the distance.

Kasiya had only just climbed onto Fang's back when Mike issued his challenge. Kasiya had seen both Pokemon fly, and she'd traveled with the then-clumsy Crobat before. Fang was by no means a slow flier. Still holding onto her bandanna, she tied it firmly to her wrist, hoping not to lose it in the flight.
"You hear that Fang?" the girl asked, patting her Crobat's head affectionately. "They want a race. And look at that huge head start they have. Too bad it's not enough." She shook her head, giving a great, fake sigh. "Fly, Fang," she whispered in his ear. "And if it gets to be too much for you, let me know, and we'll land right away, okay?"
Fang let out a happy squeak, and he pushed off with his feet, tucking them under him. His four wings treaded the air currents silently, giving, at the very least, no audible warning to the Charizard and two boys ahead of her. With each beat of his glimmering green wings, they gained more and more speed and momentum; the small orange dot that was Nitro, Mike and Keegan growing larger rather fast. In practically no time at all, the amazingly speedy Crobat surpassed them. Kasiya waved at her friends, and blew a kiss in their general direction as Fang continued to widen the gap between them.

"I'll hold you guys to that," Keegan said, already holding on for dear life. He'd never flown on a Pokemon before, just the manmade contraptions known as helicopters and planes. Hearing Mike's demand for a race, the redhead held on tighter, bracing himself as Nitro's powerful wings took them into the air. "You don't want to..." Keegan trailed off, already knowing how this was going to end. He knew how fast Crobat were, and Fang was no exception. Daring to look around, Keegan marveled at the view from above. While differing greatly from Hoenn, the Kanto landscape was still a breathtaking sight.
Out of the corner of his peripheral vision, he could make out a blur of green. Yes, it was Fang, and Keegan waved back as the Crobat passed them effortlessly. Keegan could only chuckle. "Pwned."

Both Mike and Nitro wore astonished expressions as the green bullet darted past them. "Did he just...agh!" The boy's face contorted into one of rage, the teeth on his Charizard bared with equal annoyance. "They will not show us up, shut it Keegan!" He blared, ordering his Pokemon to go faster.
The flame on his tail burst into a raging inferno, the wind sucking smoke from it as they sped through the sky. No way was that oddball Pokemon showing him, a powerful Charizard, up like that. He let out mighty roar, flapping his large wings with every ounce of energy he had. He felt the air press against his back, a good tail wind. Nice. It took a great deal of effort, but Nitro caught up, his many long distance flights giving him alot of prowess with his wings. He trailed mere feet behind Fang, snapping his jaws ferociously.

Akane walked back to the study with her cereal bowl in one hand and a glass of chocolate milk in the other. She never got to eat cereal like this when she was at home - her parents thought it was junk and waste of a good nutritous meal. Twinkers was following her carrying a small bowl of her own cereal (without any milk). Twinkers happily ate her sugary cereal on a chair next to Akane's, at least until she was all done. Akane was too engrossed in reading up on the various Pokemon that could be hers, crossreferencing their known locations in an Atlas and writing down the names and locations of those that interested her, to pay any attention to her small pink companion.
Twinkers quickly got bored and left Akane to her reading and decided to see what she could find to amuse herself in the mansion. Now where was that Skitty she was playing with yesteday?

Kasiya laughed at Nitro's enraged roar, turning to take a look at her friends as they tried to catch up. "You're doing great for a first real flight, Fang," Kasiya told her Crobat fondly. The Kanto landscape slowly morphed into the vaguely familiar Johto, and Kasiya recognized Cherrygrove City below them.
Fang was truly giving it his all, each wing pushing him and his trainer further and further. The strain was incredible, but it felt good at the same time. At one point, Kasiya felt him falter beneath her, and her heart jumped into her throat at the thought of plummeting from the sky. Fang managed to regain complete control though, his heart racing in his chest. "Don't hurt yourself," Kasiya said, patting his head gently. The green Crobat let out an indignant screech; he'd learned something from the battle with Koga's Crobat. It was high time he proved himself, even if that meant letting go of his more immature ways (sometimes, at least) and doing his best to focus at the tasks he was given. For now, he continued to lead Nitro, Mike and Keegan, the distance between the two fliers keeping relatively the same. Kasiya smiled to herself - when Fang built up more endurance, he'd be able to fly circles around just about anyone.
The Radio Tower loomed up in the distance, signaling that they were close to Goldenrod. Somehow Kasiya knew that Fang would need an extended rest after this, and she secretly wished that Whitney was currently at the gym so that she could take the gym leader up on that offer of a battle from before.
