Glancing sidelong at Spike for a moment, Faith shrugged and walked (after grabbing one more bite of her eggs, and winking at Connor in thanks for making them) through the swinging kitchen door and down the hallway.

When she got to the den, finding Buffy pacing, she quirked her head to the side slightly, and quietly shut the door behind her.

"Ok, I'm here. What's the sitch, B?"

(If that was me, sorry, I posted that last post when I had just woke up. o.o; )

Buffy stopped and sat in one of the 2 leather armchairs, crossed her right leg over her left, and flipped her hand toward the other chair. "Sit down a sec."
She thought back, trying to remember if she'd brought up the trip to Faith, but just couldn't recall.
"I have tickets to pick up that last Slayer in Prague. For tonight. I was gonna take Angel and Xander with, and I've got an extra ticket. The plan was to leave Will in charge with Dawn... but just between you and me.. Will's gone wonky. All dark-rooted, if you know what I'm saying. And Dawn..." She rolled her eyes heavenward. "Well, forget Dawn. She's been seriously filled to the brim with attitude. So... I'm gonna need you to keep an eye on things here."
She raised her eyebrow at Faith, then added, "I'm asking, not telling. Don't worry. It's just that with Giles gone and Willow on the edge.. and what the hell is going on with her and Oz? Did you notice that?"
Buffy shook her head and sighed.
"I don't know... I'd leave Xander... but you had to have seen how he's been since... Well, he needs to get away. He is not adjusting. Not since Anya..."
She stopped talking and waited for Faith's response.

Kennedy glanced up to a familiar voice. It was one of the girls from the mansion. One of the slayers. She extended her hand, motioning her to have a seat. Her cup had been empty for a while now. The up skirts of the cup had dried up stains from who knows how long ago. Kennedy stared at her again, trying to remember a name. Nothing.

“Hey, I’m sorry, what was your name again?” She tried to sound, well, as normal as her voice could get. Hopefully, it worked. She hoped this slayer did not detect her somber vibes mixed with tears. She did say no more tears.

“It’s just with everything going on around here, I feel kinda looped out and names are being a bit fuzzy.”

She tried to smile. It was more of a crack drawn to her skin. She knew it. She felt it. Did her new companion?

Phoenix smiled warily at the girl whose face was tearstreaked and kinda swollen.
"Yeah, I'm new - but we met in L.A. at Angel's hotel.. you and Willow had that - uh - that argument thing.... I'm Phoenix?"
She took a seat opposite the gorgeous brunette and reached across the table to grasp Kennedy's hand.
"Whatever it is, it's not worth it. I learned that a long time ago. Nothing on this planet is worth your tears. Nothing." She squeezed once, then reached out for the drinks menu.
"Yeah, it's early.. but we're gettin' wasted."
She signaled the waitress and ordered rounds of rum shots and beer chasers.
"And don't stop the flow, babe."

Willow shrugged when Spike didn't answer her.
"Hey, Fred.. have you gotten a chance to look around? I've got an awesome collection downstairs, all kinds of Wiccan goodies, you should come see. C'mon!" She started out of the kitchen, hoping Fred would follow her.

Kennedy's eyes glanced at the waitress, then at Phoenix.

"No, it's okay. I mean, I'm okay. You don't have to...I'm just at a rut right now, but I'll be fine."

Fine. She had trouble believing that word. Kennedy straightened her posture a bit. She had forgotten what it was like to feel this way. It's hard to let go. Phoenix just wanted to help. Kennedy figured her face probably could not hide her feelings, not well enough anyway.
She wiped anyway any left over tears that she might have ignored.

"Besides, my wallet is my enemy right now. Otherwise, there'd be more than a cup on this table. Phoenix, you said? That's an interesting name."

Kennedy was trying, but it stung. Got to forget about that right now, she thought. Kennedy finally looked up at Phoenix.

Oz got up from his bed and went to the door. Thigns were happening around here and he wanted to be in the fight. Whatever that monster wanted, Oz had to find out. It had Willow in the middle doing who knows what. He made his way downstairs. The kitchen. Everyone seemed to enjoy congregating there. Didn't take long before he saw Willow standing at the doorway. She looked like she was waiting for someone. was she already in good terms with Kennedy? Doesn't matter. Oz would not bring that up to her. That is Willow's job.

"Hey! Willow, can we talk for a moment?" The paused drifted a bit as he realized what Willow must have thought.

"....about that monster! Nothing else. I just want to know what happened with that monster." His arms sprung up, waving his hands in defense.

CONNOR FROWNED WHEN FAITH AND BUFFY LEFT THE ROOM, QUICKLY FOLLOWED BY WILLOW.
"OK...UH..I'LL JUST CLEAN UP. WANNA HELP OUT HERE XANDER? I GOTTA GO TO WORK." HE GESTURED TO XANDER WITH A PLATE IN HIS HAND.

XANDER GRABBED THE PLATE BEFORE THE KID DROPPED IT.
"HEY SPIKE...DRUSILLA WAS IN THE LIVINGROOM LAST TIME I SAW HER...SHOULDN'T YOU GO FIND HER? STOP THE CRAZY? JOIN THE CRAZY? BE THE CRAZY? EITHER WAY, WOULD YOU BE SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN IN MY FACE?"HE STILL COULDN'T REALLY STAND LOOKING AT SPIKE, NO MATTER WHAT GOOD THINGS HE'D DONE.
HE PUT AWAY SOME DISHES INTO THE DISHWASHER, AND THEN TURNED TO LOOK AT CONNOR.
"YOU GOT A JOB?"

Willow put her hand on Oz's cheek.
"You can talk to me about whatever you want. You know that."
She smiled and walked toward the steps leading to the common room. If Fred followed, that was good. If not, well, that was fine too. She kinda looked like drool was soon to come out of her mouth anyway. As soon as Spike walked into the kitchen, Fred kinda went into a trance.
"What's up, Oz? Why are you all.. jumpy-like?"
She headed down into the common room and behind the bar, taking out some of her supplies, and remembering that she'd forgotten to restock.. all Amy's fault.
Willow shook her head and waited for Oz.

Phoenix reached into her back pocket and pulled out her Mastercard.
"Never leave home without it, babes."
She grinned from ear to ear.
"Food's on daddy, baby. Order whatever you want."
The waitress brought out a round and Phoenix threw one back, the followed it with a chug of beer.
"Ugh, gross." She shuddered.
"Your turn, babes. And Kennedy's a pretty hot name too. Never heard it as a first name. Your parents big fans of the president or some s**t?" She laughed quietly. Hopefully she could break the girl out of her funk. Cuz she needed to get back home, see if her parents had called. If something didn't change soon, she needed to get home. All this s**t was just too weird. Buffy was leaving.. and Phoenix was either going with her, or going home...
She glanced up at Kennedy between lowered lashes...
Or she'd stay right here. She might swing that.

"Like they say, 'liqour before beer in the clear; beer before liqour makes you sicker'."

Kennedy grabbed a shot, raised the glass and then gulped the alcohol. She then took a swig of beer. She found herself making the same face as Phoenix.

"Ugh!"

The taste was not the purpose of her drinking to begin with. She needed a to feel good, to feel alive again. Kennedy had to find a way to either forget with what happened or to deal. She smiled. A real smile. Phoenix's eyes had a warmth in them. Was she being friendly or flirting? Did it really matter? Kennedy tried to believe that it was a friendly concern. Still, her eyes...

"Name? Who knows. I'm just glad it's not a generic name that fits society. You know, like Sarah, Jennifer, or Tiffany. I've grown fond of it. I like unique!"

Her soft hand slowly caressed his cheek as if it were meant to be there. Maybe he was just hoping, looking too into this. But wait! Was she friendly or flirty? Still, Willow seemed to be alright, which is a good sign. Oz expected her to be a little on the jumpy side, too. Instead, he found a calm friendly Willow willing to help out. Good old Willow. Oz sighed.

“I want to talk to you about that monster thing last night,” Oz began to say as he approached her.

“What exactly happened? I mean, that thing was ready to eat Kennedy or something. And then you get the strange mark and go all wonky and say he’s gonna heal her, which he did. I mean, I guess I am trying to figure out why. Wasn’t he attacking her in the first place? But you have that mark now. Does that mean it’s gonna attack you now?”

Oz stared into her eyes. His concern was sincere and he had reasons for it to be. It was Willow. Yes, she's a powerful witch, but she is still vulnerable. Oz just had trouble seeing when. Willow stared back at him. Although it was only for a moment or so, Oz felt his heart pound louder as it felt like hours.

Kennedy covered her mouth with the back of her hand as her eyes squinted from the taste. She finally focused at Phoenix again.

“I hate to do this, but I think I will pick you up on the ‘food’s on daddy’ deal.” Kennedy knew that drinking without having food in the tummy was a very bad idea.

“Waitress, burgers and fries, please!” She smiled back at her new friend. “It pays to have an awesome metabolism.”

Who knew, who knew that Kennedy would smile so soon. Maybe she was just being friendly or maybe she was forcing it on to hide the pain. Kennedy wasn’t sure, but being with someone at a moment like this is better than being alone. For now, Phoenix was doing her a favor.

Phoenix cracked up. This was much better than weepy Kennedy. She was much cuter when she was happy and irreverent looking. Nice.
She held up her glass for a toast, saying, "To freedom from significant others and the oppression of being hed down and not allowed to be... FREE."
Phoenix would never get involved in a serious relationship again.. but flirtation was fun. And if it put a grin on a pretty girl's face, then hell... awesome.
