Connor put his hand to his face with a groan. "Am I the only person with any sort of street smarts, around here?" Rhetorical question.
He stood back up, screwing the lid back on the canteen. "They're ceremonial. They're blank sot hat when he dies, nobody can identify him. They get cut off if he earns a respectable position, moves up from attack dog to manager."
How could Connor explain this so Kaegan would understand? "If you compared it to Denzien culture.. He retains omega status until he can prove himself competant and smart enough to lead his own cartel. When he.. Becomes an alpha. You just screwed up his whole way of thinking. He's probably more confused than an earthworm when it rains."
He lifted up a hand in a lazy wave, beginning to walk back to his home. "Good luck trying to explain everything to him when he gets back."

He grunted. "The DuPloys are dead. He needs to understand that, and so do you. You can't cling to a government that's lost it's leaders. It's like following a god who died."
He grunted. "And don't try to tell me s**t, Connor. You don't have the right."

Connor turned around. Losing his patience was rare, but he was getting pretty damn close with Kaegan.
"Following a dead god? You might want to think about what you say before you say it. You still teach people about Sim. Your culture is barely hanging on. I think the DuPloy has as much right as you to try and retain his own identity. Even is he is a two-faced retarded p***y."

Kaegan's eye twitched, and for about two seconds, he deliberated on his next move before pulling his fist back and hurling it with all his might into Connor's face.
"SHUT your mouth about something you know NOTHING about, you ignorant ********!"

Connor sidestepped to the right, bringing his own right hand to Kaegan's wrist. Not grabbing the wrist, but lightly guiding it so it didn't hit him. While doing this, his left hand grabbed Kaegan's neck, and as all this happened within the blink of an eye, Connor was able to use Kaegan's momentum against him.
Connor's left knee bent, and Kaegan was pushed face-first into the ground. An akeido move for self defense.. One of the first thing they teach trainees in the military.
The move could easily be broken out of, but the mere fact that Connor could succeed in doing it would give him power, if any of the other Denziens saw it. His left hand squeezed against the pressurepoints in the back of Kaegan's neck.
"Don't think for a second that I don't know what I'm talking about. It's you who doesn't know what you're teaching," He growled.

Kaegan panted, spitting out dirt. His hand snaked across the ground to grab onto Connor's ankle, pulling down hard to put Connor onto his back, hissing as Connor's hand tore away from the back of his neck. "Don't touch me, f*****t." He pushed himself onto his knees before straddling Connor over his stomach, holding onto his neck with his left hand, squeezing, and raising his right, his fist curled tightly.

Connor's blue eyes glared at Kaegan. He bent his knees, his heels to his buttocks, placed his elbows hard on the ground and thrust upward with his hips, slightly to the right. Weirdly named "oompah", a jiu-jitsu move taught for switching who was ontop. Isiah would've liked it, if they ever had gotten as far as that.
Even if Connor was ontop, Kaegan was still choking him, and Connor's hilarious weakness was offense; he always left himself open when he attacked. So while his lungs only vaguely began to burn for air, he decided upon choking Kaegan, as well, hoping that his training would allow Kaegan to pass out before he did.
That didn't change that Kaegan's hands were free now, and Connor's were not. Glaring mistake.

Kaegan grunted as he landed on his back, tightening his grip around Connor's neck before sending blow after blow into Connor's face, his knuckles hardened by years of combat, his face reddening from the lack of airflow.

Connor was in obvious pain, his face already bruising and his lungs beginning to get a little more demanding about air.
Connor let one hand stay on Kaegan's neck, trying to squeeze it to death, while taking the other hand and trying to catch Kaegan's free fist. Connor's nose and forehead were already bleeding. It wasted energy he needed oxygen for. This was going to turn out badly.
He wondered if he could still hold out. Maybe if he was lucky, Kaegan and he would pass out at the same time.

Kaegan grunted, grabbing onto the hand that was choking him and attempting to yank it away- he only needed one breath before he finished Connor. His hand tightened around the romani's neck, his thumb piercing painfully into the jugular.

Connor''s sight began to turn red, the blood coming over his eyes and his broken nose. He blinked, but couldn''t handle his eyes screaming at him. It didn''t matter, Connor didn''t need to see to try and finish Kaegan off.
His throat throbbed, and Connor tried to ignore it. He mimicked what Kaegan was doing to him with his own hand, even though his grip was beginning to loosen very slightly from all the effort of.. Everything.
Connor, eyes closed, still knew where he was aiming when he brought his free hand up. His head was getting light, so after this, he''d probably end up letting go of Kaegan and/or passing out. He wasn''t sure which would happen first. He hoped he''d pass out with a deathgrip on Kaegan, but.. That didn''t matter right now.
Connor''s free fist slammed into Kaegan''s collarbone, hoping to break it and score one for the team.

Kaegan's feet pulled up uselessly, struggling with his last few moments of breath before being struck in the collarbone- his face contorted in pain, giving up on forcing Connor to release him. He pulled his fist to the side to send the corner of his knuckles into the side of Connor's temple in an attempt to knock him over on his side and to knock him out, simultaneously.

Connor was struggling. He kept trying to make sure Kaegan didn't get any breath, but the familiar spinning feeling from asphyxiation was settling in. Since his eyes were still closed, Kaegan probably didn't notice that the bloody mass of Romani has passed out miliseconds before Kaegan's fist hit his temple.
Connor was effectively thrown to the side, his hand still on Kaegan's throat, but loose enough to allow for Kaegan to breathe easily.

Kaegan panted, drawing in desperately needed breath, taking Connor's hand and tossing it off of his neck. He stayed on the ground, catching his breath, ignoring the gathered circle of young denziens who had paused to watch the escapade.
Eventually someone came over and helped him up, but nobody came for Connor, save Isiah.
Isiah was alerted after the fight's end of the happenings- he had been asleep throughout the entire endeavor. He forced himself through the crowd before leaning next to the unconcious Connor, picking up up to cradle his head against his chest. "What the hell did you do, Kaegan!?"
Kaegan's mouth was open as though he had a response but for a moment, nothing came. "Self defense," He muttered, hoarsely. "I had no choice."
"The ******** you didn't!" Isiah pulled off his undershirt to soak up the blood that was streaming down Connor's face from a variety of sources. "How could you?!"
Kaegan grunted, attempting to answer, but Isiah had allready lifted Connor and begun to carry him back to his hovel. Isiah lay Connor down gingerly on the cot, taking Connor's canteen and putting water unto the undershirt to clean dried blood from his face. "Connor.. wake up.."

Connor came to from the water, gasping for breath. He gasped, then he choked, then he coughed and panted, rolling the opposite way, falling to the ground off Isiah and the bed. By some miracle, he managed to catch himself just enough so he didn't mess up his broken nose any more and turn on his back again. He couldn't think of anything to say. He didn't know where he was, or who had woken him up. His right hand went to his eyes, trying to wipe off the rest of the blood ontop of them, still gasping for air.
Tsurai, on the other hand, had already run out and done his anxiety attack. Slowly making his way back. It would take a while; he was exausted from crying so much, and needed water.
