...I graduated today. Whoopee... I was actually excited for it, and had fun joking around during the ceremony, but when it came time for the tea, I realized how alone I was. Everyone else had their family there, and I had no one. No family... No friends. I've been crying ever since.

But I don't want it to happen. I'd much rather the weather reach a ceiling temperature of, oh, say 79 degrees. That way people like me can't b***h about it being in the 80s. Yeah, 79 with a slight breeze. Perfect.

On a side note, I got an email from Chalda today. She's doing well, but she's again without internet access. I'm sure she wishes you all well.

You should tell her to email me, Soleq.
Also, I'm taking the ACT on the 10th of June so I can drop out of school (long story). So I'll likely be in San Francisco the week following that. More details to come...

*Hugs* I am sorry that you did not have anyone there. I would like to extend my congratulations though, and I don't think I am the only one. And remember that you are the one who has the degree, you earned it, and it is meant to help you better yourself in life.

I honestly don't even know what to say about gas anymore. I don't. I can't trust anyone or thing. The oil companies are ******** us over but they're profits could be so much higher. Congress, well that's a laugh. I love how Congress is irrate. Bush, no comment. I don't trust the media because the media is a bag of s**t.

All I know. All I know is that in Southern California in the little town I live in at the little gas station right near my house. It said 3.07$ two days ago. Today? 3.20$ I hear political corruption in Iraq makes prices go up but honestly there are other factors like China.

I think the thing that pisses me off the most is that we can get a stupid immigration thing fired up like the ones we've been having and especially the one on Monday, but we can't get one for oil. No, I'm sorry that's not what pisses me off the most. The thing that pisses me off the most is that while we suffer the most and while the oil companies should be making worst profits, they're making the most profits ever. And not only do they not say "Hey, sorry." They say, "Hey, we should be making more profits." Man, they have a humongous PR problem. Honestly.

Butters: From what I've read, the average profit that 'Big Oil' gets per gallon is $0.10 When you figure how many gallons of gas are consumed a day, that figures out to be a bunch of cash... But I've heard that the Government's average tax on gas is $0.50 per gallon.

Who's -really- making out good here?... Obviously not us crying

I'm actually for (for the moment) the government upping the gas tax. Astronomically if necessary. No one will pay $6 for a gallon of gas. So not only will that decrease the amount we're buying, but it will also lower dependency on gasoline, and that can only go one of two ways. So what if the government is making more money? They turn around and put most of it back into the country, and it's not like there's a shortage of wealth for those who can afford gas and a car and insurance anyway.

From a utilitarian viewpoint, I whole heartedly agree with Thomas (or TNA, but the sexual reference somewhat detracts from his intellect). However, living in California (and therefore required to commute at least 30 miles to work), that would significantly harm me and my family. I do believe that driving is a privilege, and as such, I should be required to pay for the ability in some form. But, until alternative fuels become more readily available in my area, I would hesitate to promote any increase in the gas tax. Somewhat Republican of me, but that's where I stand.

Perhaps instead of upping the government gas tax (where god knows the increase funds would actually go), perhaps somehow, oh, I don't know, TAX THE ******** OIL COMPANIES?

And make it so that they have to buy the Xtra Large Jacuzzi for their Mansions instead of the X-TREME X-TRA GARGANTUAN! sized one?

... Communist!

Even if we did tax, say, an extra billion dollars out of them in a year... that's going to fund HALF of a DAY of how much we've been spending since Sept 30th of last year! (Source:US Debt Clock) What we -need- to do is make the Government smaller. There is no reason why we need a Babysitter, and getting rid of all those damn useless sections of the government ("No Mr. Bush, we -can't- get rid of the Judiciary Branch...") so that we can save money. From what I've learned, the only part of the Government that earns us money on a regular basis is the Treasury, since they sell 'special' quarters for like $20. Plus, we should stop with the whole 'HOMGZ0R0WAK! Drug will destroy teh wurld!' thing. The FDA just came out with a Report saying that Marijuana has -NO- medical value (shows how honest they are), while they let by all those other medications that screwed people up; Like Vioxx *can't remember all of them*. Want to know why people use drugs, Mr. Bush? THEY WORK!. Why the hell else would they do them? It'd be a great form of revenue for the Government...

... I kinda went off on a rant, didn't I? Yeah, I just don't see why the Government can't use common sense... *le sigh*

Communist to me is not an insult. It's a perfect system, in theory. It's only human nature that ******** things up.

Anyway, downsizing government wouldn't necessarily solve our problems. Our largest areas of spending actually do go to places that are useful. Sure, I have a problem with how much money goes into the DOD, especially those damned failed projects that end up costing a ton of money for no real gain. However, we still need to be supporting education and various social services plans.

Somehow we need to get the message across that everyone's accountable. I'm sick of hearing that there's been yet another tax break for the extremely wealthy. I'm sick of hearing about tax cuts for big business. It's about time that someone says "hey, guess what? If you don't pay your taxes, I'm going to shoot you."

I'm constantly trying to explain that to people, but they don't get it.

Personally, I'm rather annoyed at how high taxes are in my state. This is my first job... so I'm not really sure if it's the norm to take almost 20% of my check out in taxes, but I'm guessing it's a little bit much.

It doesn't really matter if you try to tax a large company, expecially with a Business Man as President. They'll be like other ones and change is so that they are 'Based' in the Bahamas or something so they don't have to pay taxes.

Wouldn't surprise me. The government probably allocates funds worst than the oil company. I have nothing to back that up, but oh well.
