"Rats," Erika said, her face showing displeasure for the first time since they'd entered the gym. "Return, Tangela. You did very well," she said, recalling it with a flash of red. "Okay." She sighed, and held her next Pokeball. "I choose you, Victreebel!" She released the flycatcher Pokemon, and it shrieked loudly, whipping its long vine around.
"Alright Seto," Kasiya cheered, feeling confident now. "Jump in and hit it with your Fury Swipes!"
Seto gave a growl, and jumped at the Victreebel, claws extended. It raked them across the fleshy body of the grass type a few times before jumping back, just in time to get a face full of Sludge Bomb. Erika gave a grin as Seto yowled, trying to wipe the sludge from its face.

"Ooh," Keegan said, impressed by the power of the Sludge Bomb attack. It was obviously a poison type move, and he suddenly wondered if Loki would make good use of such a great move. Perhaps he'd goad Kasiya into some shopping later on, and maybe do some TM hunting, if he could afford it.

"Please don't be poisoned," Kasiya begged, but it was hard to tell. Seto shook the last of the sludge from its face and bared its fangs, hissing and snarling like an angry wildcat.
"He didn't like that," Erika said with a chuckle. "Again Victreebel! Sludge Bomb!"
"Shadow Ball!" Kasiya countered. Seto fired off the black orb once more, missing Victreebel by only a few inches, but taking the Sludge Bomb full on. The Persian slumped, his shoulders trembling.
"Return, Seto," Kasiya said, smiling as she recalled him. "You were great, as always." She studied the two Pokeballs in her hand, thinking that Fang had been in a lot of action lately, and Hiro hadn't. She smiled, and threw the Pokeball, revealing her mighty Arcanine. Hiro howled loudly, his great bushy tail waving back and forth in anticipation.

Erika's face fell a bit, but she quickly forced it from her mind. "Toxic!" she ordered, hoping to get the jump on things.
"Take Down!" Kasiya cried. Hiro gave a loud bark, and raced into the fray at a dazzling speed, striking Victreebel and knocking it over. It quickly rebounded, spraying a highly toxic liquid over the Arcanine. "Hey, that was Extremespeed, wasn't it?" Kasiya gasped, gritting her teeth as the Toxic hit her Arcanine. He seemed visibly sickened, as the poison set in immediately.
"Wrap attack!" Erika yelled, and Victreebel's long vine snapped out, completely wrapping Hiro's large body.
"Flame Wheel!" Kasiya cried out. Hiro's body was engulfed by flames, vines and all. He ran forward, streaking like a comet and slammed Victreebel into the ground. It lay there for a moment or two, twitching.

Whitney giggled as she watched Koffing become infatuated. "Young Pokemon in love," she commented, "it's so cute. It's too bad that I can't use that on you, cutie!" She threw another wink at Kilik.
Nina cracked her neck in annoyance. "What is WRONG with her?!" she asked to nobody in particular, her eye twitching a little, due to annoyance.
"All right Miltank," Whitney said, "show that Koffing what you're made of! Give it a Mega Kick attack!!" The Miltank mooed, and back up several feet. A moment later, it ran toward the Koffing and was preparing to kick it like a soccer ball.

"Victreebel!" Erika gasped, her hands covering her mouth in shock. "Are you alright?" she cried. There wasn't any response from the fainted grass Pokemon, and she reluctantly held up its Pokeball and recalled it. "We're not finished yet," she said with a smile, knowing Arcanine's poison would spread quickly. "I call on you, Vileplume!" The Flower Pokemon appeared before them, a large red flower gracing the top of its head.
Kasiya smiled at it, though. She remembered back a while ago, when it was still an Oddish. "He's certainly grown up, hasn't he?" Kasiya called.
"Yes, he has," Erika replied, pleased that Kasiya remembered him. "Now lets get to it. You want this badge? Earn it," she said, sounding more forceful than before. "Go Vileplume! Acid!"
"You bet I do," she said, and raised her arm, pointing at Vileplume. "Hiro! Extremespeed!"
Hiro gave a growl, and dashed forward with an amazing burst of speed, right through the acid and into Vileplume. He winced a little under the slowly strengthening poison, but refused to show weakness now.

Kilik scratched the back of his head. "Koffing! Dodge it!" Nothing. Koffing was sent spiraling into the back wall. He fell to the ground again, in a puff of dust. The ball began to roll over to Miltank again, mumbling to itself. Kilik looked at Whitney. "That's a horrible thing to do! Mess with his feelings! Only to be shot down when he tries to say he loves Miltank!"
"Kof Koffing!!" it laughed, looking up at the cow. It blew smoke out of its body, the clouds taking the form of hearts.

Whitney shrugged, grinning. "It's not like the Koffing understands," she commented. Nina gave Whitney a death gaze from the sidelines, but was ignored.
"Miltank," Whitney said, "finish that Koffing off. Use Stomp!" A nod came from the Cow Pokemon, and it lifted its hoof directly above Koffing, about to step on him.
"Koffing!" Nina called, worried. Mihoshi expressed her concern with a chirp.

Kasiya watched Hiro closely for a second, seeing he was weakened. "The poison," she grumbled, suddenly wanting the match to be over. "Hiro! Use your Flamethrower!" she yelled, clenching her hands into fists. Hiro reared back and blasted a jet of fire towards the Vileplume. It hit its mark, and the flower Pokemon staggered around for a moment before it sat down, looking pretty woozy. Kasiya couldn't understand how it was still standing after a direct attack like that.
"Okay Vileplume!" Erika called. "Use the Sunny Day/Synthesis combo!"
Vileplume gave a nod, and rubbed the side of its head. Bright rays of sun filtered through the windows, making everything feel warm and bright. It stood up, absorbing the sun's rays, and restored its energy fully. Meanwhile, Hiro's HP took another hit due to the effects of Toxic.
"Wow," Kasiya gasped, impressed by the combination the duo had just pulled off. "Come on, Hiro! You can do it!" she called. "Flamethrower again!"

Hiro staggered a bit, but he found the strength to aim the Flamethrower, scoring another direct hit. He then fell to his belly, breathing heavily and looking pained. Kasiya ran out to him, not seeing what happened to Vileplume. "My Hiro," she said, cuddling him. "Are you okay?"
He looked up at her and whined a bit. "Arc." She ruffled the fur on the top of his head.
"I'm very proud of you," she said, as she felt a gentle tap on her shoulder. She looked up, and saw Erika standing beside her.
"Congratulations," she said, all smiles. "You've earned a Rainbow Badge." In her hand was a rainbow coloured badge, glinting in the sunlight. "I knew it was risky, but Sunny Day added to the effects of fire attacks as well as aiding Synthesis," she admitted sheepishly. "You were great. Please take this as well." She also handed Kasiya a small case, enclosed within was the shiny green disc that contained TM19, Giga Drain, as well as her prize money.
"Thank you," Kasiya said, standing up. She recalled Hiro into his Pokeball, and stared at her new badge.
I've done it, she thought, her heart pounding. I'm halfway there!

Keegan stood up, clapping as the Vileplume fell, defeated. He couldn't help but smiling after it was all said and done. She really was a great trainer. "Way to go!" he called, as she received her prizes. Now he could only wonder what would come next.

Kasiya smiled at Keegan, and she turned to exit the gym.
"Hang on a second," Erika said suddenly, disappearing into a back room for a second, and reappearing a moment later. "There's something else I want for you to have," she said as she walked up to Kasiya. "I want you to have this as a sign of our friendship. Don't be shy," she added, as Kasiya stared in amazement. It was a Pokemon Egg! Safely stored in a glass container, with a padded base to keep it safe. Adorned on the top was a Pokeball, designed for the baby Pokemon within.
"Thank you," Kasiya said, feeling tears well up in her eyes. "I will treasure it." She looked the egg over for a moment. The shell was a pale green colour with darker green spots. "What is it?" she asked curiously.
"You'll have to wait and see," Erika replied with a giggle, and leaned over to whisper in her ear. "The baby in there will know Counter," she added. "Now go on, the next gym awaits! Head south to Fuchsia City."
"We will. Thank you again!" Kasiya called, waving once more as she exited the gym and stepped into the bright sunlight. "I can't believe she gave me an egg," Kasiya said, still in shock, as she set the container on the ground and unlocked her bike.
((Okay I know I said I didn't want it in egg form, but I lied. ninja ))

Sabrina walked through the Goldenrod Department Store, still browsing about, not really looking for anything in particular. She made her way upstairs, with a few things on her mind, the most prominent being that Nina was with Kilik. Sabrina's first encounter with Kilik was much less than a plesant one, and currently Sabrina was rather mad at herself for allowing Nina to go with him. What was wrong with me? she thought. He could really hurt her, and if he does, then it'd be all my fault! I'd never forgive myself if that happened! Sabrina slightly shook her head a couple times, trying to ward off those thoughts. No. Everything will be fine. Nina isn't stupid; I'm sure that Kilik must have changed for the better if she was even willing to be within eyesight of him. Sabrina nodded. Yes. That's it. Everything's fine. The gym leader calmed down a little bit, and reached the next floor, browsing around and looking at the available TMs. Not finding what she was looking for, she made her way to the top floor, and then used the elevator to reach the rooftop. The sun was shining but it wasn't hot out, and there were unfoldable chairs strewn about. Nobody else was around, so Sabrina unfolded one of the chairs and stretched out on it, relaxing. She closed her eyes and folded her arms, and rested her hands underneath the back of her head.
A few moments later, Kasiya's face came into Sabrina's head, as did Erika's, Vileplume's, and Growly's.
"So," Sabrina said, "it seems like she'll be seeing me soon..."

Mitsu laughed. "I have to travel with you sometime, and see how annoying he is. Oh and please if it's not too much trouble." Mitsu said with a smile. If it's an egg it probably has some egg moves. She silently wished it knew Dragonbreath.
