"Doton: Gou no Doro (Earth Release: Mud Moat). This jutsu converts the area immediately surrounding the performer of it into a a deep murky moat full of mud, and due to the nature of the mud, water walking no jutsu cannot be used. That is pretty disgusting, will be useful for the Chuunin Exams. Very useful, indeed." Jubei mumbled to himself as he studied the scroll, his eyes scanning and analyzing the technique, studying and memorizing as he read. Not only this, but another mud-based technique he had his eye on. It would be a lot easier to use if he made a lot of mud, or so he believed. He thought it seemed logical. Jubei slapped his hands together and began going through the hand signs, getting them down until he had it memorized. Then he began molding his chakra inside his own body, converting his stamina into chakra. When he was sure he had the right amount of chakra, he performed the necessary hand seals and performed the jutsu, Doton: Gou no Doro (Earth Release: Mud Moat, and turned the surrounding area into a lot of mud. At least, as much as he could manage at his level. About six feet in radius, twelve in diameter. Six feet deep, enough for Jubei to drown himself in.

It was pretty cool.

Next on the jutsu list to learn was Geigeki No Doro (Mud Interceptor), a nifty jutsu if he couldn't counter any thrown projectiles in any other matter. Or if he wanted to get someone really dirty. Now that he had an ample supply of mud, it would be very easy to perform it. Jubei took a moment to study the jutsu from the scroll and performed the hand seals, converted his stamina into chakra, and had one of his raiton bushins throw a rock at him. It would have hit him had he not learned this technique, which he performed. Nasty mud slammed into the thrown rock and knocked it to the ground, successfully intercepting the thrown rock as the the jutsu was intended to.

"Doton: Iwa Tounyuu no Jutsu (Earth Release: Rock Throw Technique). A small rock, the size of a fist, can be lifted and thrown using chakra. That seems like a nifty little skill to have, for distractions or caving in a skull. Might be useful in the exams." Jubei muttered as he studied the basic technique, although he really didn't have to study it, truth be told. It was an academy-level doton jutsu; there wasn't much to it. Just applying some chakra, performing the necessary hand seals, and then creating it. Simple, but deadly if used in the right hands. Very deadly. So Jubei was going to learn it, because he liked the thought of being deadly, and he wanted to master every facet of the earth element. The closer he was to mastering it, the closer he was to mastering the metal his clan was famous for. Jubei envisioned the jutsu, which was not as hard as it might have seemed, and quickly performed the very few hand seals that were required for performing this jutsu. Without warning, a single, fist-sized rock lifted itself from the earth and flew towards the mud moat, only to hit the ground a few feet after clearing the mud moat. Jubei had expected a lot more distance, but he figured that this was better than nothing. Jubei shrugged and went back to his doton scroll.

He found another technique, something that would be a lot more useful than most of the jutsu he had learned today. "Doton: Doroku Gaeshi (Earth Release: Rock Shield). The user lifts up a giant piece of earth and uses it as a shield. For every rank, the shield grows 5 feet by 5 feet, and thickens by 3 inches. Good, I doubt I'll be fighting that many Raiton users at the exams. This will be perfect for me, especially if I fight any Suiton users. Now, to learn the jutsu..." Jubei studied the jutsu quickly, reading over the description for a bit before he went over the hand seals. It was a simple jutsu, another academy-level jutsu for his ever-growing repertoire, but it would be useful. Very useful, and could be a potential weapon if used under the right circumstances. Jubei quickly went through his routine, performing the hand seals and all of that garbage, and lifted a large piece of stone from the ground that was not mud. At the academy level it was only a five by five shield, that was three inches wide. Now that he was a Genin, though, it was a ten by ten that was six feet wide. That made the shield a little tough to wield without difficulty, but he would manage.

Hiniko got into a stance ready for doging should she fail the first time. hER CHAKRA READY. "YUP" she answered.

Hiniko bounced on her feet a little bit in anticipation. Just in time she brought up a ball of mud, it wasn't thick enough to deflect it though, so in the nick of time she had to do a bend backwards to doge it.

Regaining her balance she got ready for the next one. He threw it at her, and she was able to stop this one, but barely, the next time she would get it right though, perfect.

Hiniko simply smirked trying not to hurt her concentration. When he threw a kuni faster this time, she was able to block it by putting up more mud.

"Alright..this time throw more than one okay?" she asked.

Hiniko had to work quikly this time, even faster than before. She was just barely able to get the mood up in time to stop it. She sighed panting. This was tiring, and a bit pressuring. she knew if she screwed up she was definatly going to get hurt.
