Jin is hiding behind a tree on the edge of a small clearing at the back of the Kaze Dojo's territory. Well, there's not really anything to hide from. He's actually using the tree as a shield. His armor is still in Lina's chamber at the Rai Dojo, otherwise he might not worry about the tree. Barechested and with nothing to guard his manhood, though, he decided that it might be best to take precautions. What he's guarding himself from is the air bomb that's floating in the air in the middle of the clearing. Jin takes a deep breath, focuses on the bomb's center, and mentally pulls a pin.

Jin's aim is a little off. Instead of getting the center, he gets spot on his side of the bomb. The thing shoots off like a bullet and takes out an old, dying tree. The tree explodes outward with enough force to lodge splinters in Jin's shield. Wincing a little, Jin peeks his head around to stare at the unintended target. Yep, that's a dead tree. His eyes wander to the front of his tree and the tiny projectiles sticking out of its surface. Eww... He's glad the trees can't fight back. This one might be pissed at him.

Another air bomb forms in his hand. Carefully, he sends it to the middle of the clearing. Then he hurriedly places himself back in his safe spot. He feels the bomb out for a little longer this time. He really considers the spot at which he detonates the bomb. Then, he goes for it. There's a nice "boom", and a rush of air, but nothing else seems to be taken out. Emboldened, Jin tries it again. He forms the bomb and sends it out. Once it's in place, Jin steps to the side of his shield. If something goes wrong, he can at least attempt to toss himself to the side. He sighs, concentrates, then detonates. Once again, there's a pretty good "boom". And Jin notices that it's an even "boom". The gust of air is almost enough to knock him over even at a distance, too. The core doesn't go streaking off to take out an unintended target. Jin grins to himself. He's getting the hang of this. Time to take it to the next step.

The dragon man slips back into his hiding place and forms two bombs. He's gonna see how he does with multiples.

After a few moments of studying her newfound genjutsu, Iri reverts to her usual form. It feels so weird to go without wings and knee-length hair. She's glad when her body is back to normal. Although, she does retain the kimono. This outfit is a little more comfortable than the previous one.

It's right about then that a spy sends Iri an interesting report. Lina is approaching. And she has someone with her. Iri assumes this is the newcomer she had earlier gone after. Two in one day? That's unusual. And that doesn't even count the presence of her family. Well, never a dull moment at the academy. Iri exits the room, but stays next to the open door. She wants to greet Lina, but Dalcon is unpredictable right now. Odds are, Iri won't leave him alone any time soon. When she's not there, Jin or perhaps her sisters will be. As long as the other two Gale girls are here, Iri will see that they're put to work. And so Iri waits in the hall where she can still keep a close eye on the comatose boy.

"I uh...Ohhhhhhhhh, how silly of me to not have thought of that. I guess I better get used to it then, huh?"

Saito smiled to hide his embarassment.

Lina chuckled while projecting a semi-visible barrier to deflect some of the wind for him. "Assuming you plan to train at this dojo it wouldn't be a bad idea to either do that or learn something to make it easier for you"

Lina's eyes glanced into the wind seeing a reminder of her past for just a moment but shook it off, deciding not to give herself a barrier she pulled up her goggles in standby mode and kept walking along. Sending out a pulse of Rai to figure out just where the real Iri was she started to pick up the pace once she found out. She half considered just dragging Saito along to make sure he'd keep up, but instead increased the power of the barrier she was projecting to compensate for increasing wind speed.

Ookamimaru nodded at the air spy when he got his new instructions. This shall not be easy, and he was glad that the real Iri wasn’t here because this would cost him some time.
First of all, he thought of what he was able to do already.
He could steer wind impregnated with his energy in a radius of two meter around him. The tornado he was going to make should be smaller than 4 meter diameter, but large enough to envelop himself and have some moving space. To do that he would need quite a bit of energy, since there is still lots of energy loss when he practices.
He started releasing energy in the air again, while trying to keep it close to him so that it wouldn’t be blown away immediately. When having enough energy out, he started molding it in the air and made some test swipes, to see what a movement he had to make to get the wind to go round him. He then made a 360 degree twist around himself while keeping his arms to one side and held his hands as if he wanted to push the wind around him. That happened, but only a short time. The wind turned about him some seconds after the twist, but then dissipated when it got out of his reach at the top of the tornado, and died down. He tried this technique several times, sometimes turning several tours instead of one, and the wind turned with him, but kept dying down after a few seconds. He frowned. He couldn’t imagine Iri turning rounds around herself to keep the tornado going. There must he something else he overlooked…
This should be about the manner of twist of the tornado. How does it originate? How does it maintain itself in nature? There must be things about the flow of a tornado that he didn’t understand yet.
In the exercise when he had made a small tornado in his hand, he had let a constant flow of energy release out of his hands. This means the tornado started from the ground, spiraled upwards and eventually got lost in the air around them. When making a tornado on the ground, he couldn’t let energy escape form the ground to feed the tornado, so the wind must be the one to feed it.
This is where he saw the metaphorical light. When the wind escaped the tornado at the top, he mustn’t let it get lost, but he must bring it back down in or outside the tornado, and feed it to the base, so that there is a constant flow of energy and nothing gets lost.
The time he had been thinking about this he had kept practicing on making one, and he was getting tired. He estimated he might have some energy left for one or two tries on the tornado, and then he would have to stop.

Again, Ookamimaru poured some additional energy into the air to compensate the lost. He stood quietly with closed eyes when doing that, caring that he didn’t loose too much energy in the process. He then opened his eyes with a determined look and jolted in the air, making a 360° turn, arms wide.
He twisted the air around him so that it spiraled upwards, and then tried to send it downwards via the inside, so that the tornado would eventually feed itself.
The cone was as big as him, but the air wasn’t flowing very quickly. The structure of the tornado was ok though. The air slowly screwed upwards, bended in at the top, and went straight down to the bottom, before going up again.
Ookamimaru kept focusing on the energy to try and make it go faster. He swayed with his arms into the stream of air to try and accelerate the thing, and it went slightly faster, but still not sufficient enough to be called a true tornado. It might be because he was still overlooking something, or because the lack of energy he had still left.
He decided he would use the energy he had saved for a second tornado on this one. After that he would have to call the training to an end. He placed his hands in the stream of air that was going downwards, and he poured new energy in it with his new technique he had used to make his small tornado. A powerful stream of air was added to the tornado, and it started to spin faster, and grow bigger. He tried to make the tornado more compact because it was growing so bit that it was going out of his reach. He succeeded in doing that but still lost part of his energy. He pulled the sides of the cone closer to him, and because the amount of energy somewhat stayed the same, the tornado automatically started to spin faster, and eventually stagnated to a balanced, somewhat tall but true tornado.
It was now 2 feet broad at the base, and a little taller than Ookamimaru was. He was glad he had chosen to put the downward stream of air on the inside, because if he hadn’t done that, it would have most likely lifted him up and launched him into the air. Right now he even felt more stable on the ground.
By the end of the practice, he was panting, withholding himself from sticking out his tongue. Sweat pearled on his face and ran down from his chest.
He looked up at the orb that spoke Iris voice and smiled.
He wouldn’t be able to complete the second part of the practice though. He was exhausted. He looked down again and grabbed his shaking knees, while the tornado dissipated.

Lina grumbled a bit but kept going to where she sensed Iri, testing the limits of her barrier technique's range as she kept Saito somewhat protected from the winds.

As she approached Iri she tilted her head, her expression fading back to it's businesslike seemingly emotionless state. "Dalcon shown any signs of anything? Or has Reeve shown his face around here?"

((OOC: Silly me was watching the main dojo thread all week, I'm not used to this whole multi-thread thingy redface sweatdrop ))

Saito was about to answer something but his mouth simply stayed ajar as he inspected the barrier around him. He had never seen anything like it before and he was thoroughly fascinated.

Iri gives Saito a warm smile and nods in an informal greeting. Then she looks back to Lina. The Fury is still in the basement of the dojo, guarding Dalcon's door and keeping an eye on the kid.

"No changes. I like the surpressers, by the way. Jin told me a little bit about them. And, before I left, Reeve was on the dojo grounds. I don't know where he is now. To be honest, on the subject of Dalcon, I don't know what else to do from here."

Lina spoke calmly."Typical, I go through all this research just to get those two in a room together so they might talk things out and Reeve leaves before seeing him" she chuckled a bit about the subject... or maybe because of Saito's reactions to her barrier finally catching up to her.

She tilted her head back and forth to pop out some kinks. "I'd really rather we not just let Dalcon go back to Neko after all this, but I can't help you with what we should do with him... Or rather if I'm to be honest you don't want to know what I'd suggest we do with him." Lina's eyes had darkened, all traces of emotion leaving her voice as she spoke the last of the sentence in hushed tones. For that moment it would be obvious how Lina seemingly shot Reeve so easily and then it was gone and Lina was back to just seemingly blank emotionally.

After a while, Saito remembered other things were around him than just this barrier and he turned his head looking for Lina. In between two of their sentences, he asked:

"So uh, this thing... how long does it last?"

He pointed at it as if what he was referring to wasn't obvious enough.

"Oh yeah, it'll last till I get tired of holding it up" would be heard from Lina's barrier in a scratchy fake voice that seemed to replace the low crackle as the fox-girl tried to figure out why she was so close to seeing Saito through her barrier technique.
PostPosted: Tue Dec 07, 2010 7:16 pm

Saito's face showed a very confused expression as the barrier "spoke" to him. He then turned to Lina.

"Well that's nifty!"

She chuckled lightly. "Thanks... yeah now it only I had someone to explain why it was working" Lina said aloud with her own voice.

The Fury's eyes snap together as she hears Lina's hushed comment. The violet eyes don't quite glow, but there's definitely a spark. Iri knows exactly what Lina implicated. Iri doesn't appreciate it, though. The only thing that holds back a scathing remark is Iri's head. Of course Lina would mention that sort of solution. Iri likes Lina, even thinks of her as a friend, but she keeps forgetting that the strange woman thinks very differently from the Fury. Lina is much more like a nin in that she will stick to the most efficient and least costly solution to a problem. Iri, however, can't help but let her emotional attachments prevail. She won't say anything about it, yet, but she won't even consider Lina's insinuated suggestion.

"For now, I'll just keep close to Dalcon and wait on Reeve. I can instruct my students from afar. And Psyche and Jin can take care of any problems that I can't as an air clone. When Dalcon wakes up and he has a chance to talk to his father, I'll just figure out what to do from there. Thank you, though."

Iri looks to Saito and nods again.

"Who's this? The one that you went into the woods after?"

Her eyes remained calm, still reading Iri's changing emotions as the various expressions ran across the fury's face. "Very well, I'll follow with your opinion on the matter" Lina said, slightly relieved, or at least doing a decent job of faking it. Lina's mind ran through all the options that were available, but decided Iri's was likely the best outside the gray and dark sides of the moral compass.

"Yeah, that's him... my... " she mentally grumbled at using the temporary name, spitting the word "..Brother... met him first and over-estimated him thinking he was hiding similar to our unusual newcomers."
