DC doesn't require "Ultimatizing" due to the fact that unlike Marvel, heroes can grow old and retire, or be reset to be younger. I believe this is nothing but a Wizard "What if" ploy to get people to buy magazines.
And that Flash costume is the ugliest thing I've ever seen.

Why don't you like the Flash costume? He looks far better if you ask me! It may be my rational scientist type but I am of those who's opinion is that heroes should lose the spandex tights and dorky accesories. Plus, isn't the full covered mask the only way he won't eat a full plate of mosquitos every time he moves at super speed? All I do is ride at 100kmh on a highway and my windshield's covered with bug juice!
I think they stayed true to the original Flash's costume spirit and rationalized it a little, nothing wrong there if you ask me, Same thing for Batman and Superman.
I only hate the way they did Martian Manhunter... confused

The Flash's aura protects him from the ill effects of wind, rain, and bugs. The sheer amount of friction created from the air being pushed by his aura makes it so hot, I guess the bugs would burn up. The aura protects him from the friction heat.
And, it's just offensive to my eyes in terms of design and style. It's ugly like the suits riders in the Tour de France wear are ugly.

I fail to see how the Ultimate universe is a failure, by the way, when Ultimate Spider-Man is probably their best selling book. That's a TOTAL failure. :/

Bruce Banner I fail to see how the Ultimate universe is a failure, by the way, when Ultimate Spider-Man is probably their best selling book. That's a TOTAL failure. :/ I think Raven meant it's a failure in the sense that either: 1. It's failed to do justice to the 616 universe(which i'd agree with). 2. It's failed to bring in new fans as was intended, but rather has mostly brought back old fans(which i'd also agree with).

I would say that it has failed in it's supposed intent as described by Marvel. The Ultimate Universe was meant as a universal reboot, a chance to create a new mythology based on Marvel's most imminent characters. Instead it has mostly been a stale rehash of 616. Most characters look and act the exact same way, and few origins have been actually changed. Case in point: Ultimate Daredevil was completely bungled. They basically dumped him into the universe in a gimme mini series of him meeting Elektra in college, almost exactly how they met in 616. The only siginficant change I can think of was Elektra's father being downgraded to a Queens business owner. A laundromat I think. Which of course is firebombed after Elektra threatens a student who raped her friend. And Wolverine has a goatee.

Frankie_Raye Do they one of those 25 page previews lying around? heh I wish. xd Wonder if they'll explain why Quasar's in the crowd. And given the danger he still is to Earth or any other planet, i'm not gonna buy "I had to risk it." sentimentality in this case.

Half of those characters were inserted into that picture simply because they were Avengers once upon a time, with no regard to anything else.
